I made mention of this awhile back and had asked at what limit did others also have problems.

 

Right around 9 accessories it seems the game has problems for me and will simply CTD with no error messages. Not sure if it's a limit of the game engine or something to do with the type of accessories. By type I means some are just 'paint' while others have a mesh. I just know as I was 'around' 9 the CTD would occur and I would have to be careful and count them as I pick and choose which. Some have issues themselves in visibility depending on other types/locations of accessories. The tail I use for 'wolves' beside other things is extremely susceptible to this. It's listed as a 'hand' accessory but will become invisible when certain others are also equipped. Because it uses transparencies allowing the illusion like hair, this may be the cause as I know for a fact the eyelashes I have for accessories will affect the tail every time.

 

So on an average Sim I make the count is usually:

1: Fingernails

2: Toenails

3: Eyelashes (upper)

>below are possibilities:

4: Eyelashes (lower)

5: Glasses

6: Stockings/socks

7: Rings

8: Bracelets/watch

9: Tattoos

10: Necklaces (usually clash with CC heels - not used often)

11: Bras and or Panties as outfit options when using the Naked tops/bottoms

 

If I tried to use all of these at once my game would crash, plus I have many other accessories 'using' locations which have nothing to do with location. So use naval piercings, facial piercings, earrings, and many others things requires me to be judicious and selective. I wish I could go hog wild and some of my sims could benefit from 'more', but the game can't handle it.

 

I first noticed this when I was loading up a Genie with jewelry - eyelashes, toe/fingernails, 2 separate anklets, bracelets, rings, naval and nose/chin piercings, earrings and boom - back to desktop. Now with LadySmoks Veils added to options, it makes me 'cry' I can't use all my choices.

I'm curious if anyone else crashes upon reaching an accessory 'limit' in their game while in CAS.

Yes, I experimented with it, and posted several conclusions of my limited experience testing it. I only used the crabs feature in conjunction with the callgirl/whore feature (I infected all selected whores) to see how long/if my sim would eventually get them through community spreading; Inactive gets them from whore, spreads them to another inactive, and so on till an active sim I control contracts the crabs. (Uses the fleas icon and scratching animations from Pets EP) <--Not sure if players without Pets get this KW feature?

 

I discovered something which made no 'sense' and discontinued using the feature. In my experience, the crabs were not contagious in the conventional way, by being caught and passed on. Instead if not using a condom, the game would 'roll a number' to see if you got them. Because diseases/crabs show up as a moodlet (moodlets control much of the game mechanics and NRaas/intermediate/moodlets/? can change this EASILY) I was able to determine another Sim was clean before having my controlled Sim engage in coitus. Without a condom. Yes, he got crabs from thin air. Diseases/off - next.......

Do you happen to know the date of release for that build? I ask as I could contact a moderator and find out how long a mod must remain 'abandoned' without updates before/if they could be 'legally' posted here. Add to the fact the mod maker has not visited in 'amount of time' recently and we might get our wish to have that 'final build' available here once and for all.

If said mod was made available by the author/creator on some obscure site without any form of advertising, even existing as a download available to anyone with a link (where to find that link? hehe now you start to see) then this might be enough to remain 'legal'.

 

While simply being publicly available through "anyone/not the creator" posting it somewhere likely isn't enough to warrant or allow LL to post it out of respect to mod authors in general, I'm sure there has to be some ruling concerning this.

Crashing wasn't the problem, it was that at one point, detail was lost on all of the accessories. Wonder Woman.... Sword and shield on her back, tiara, lasso, bracelets. I added earrings. I didn't read the post in depth, but found my answer. It's the way the game stores the info as one image file for the sim. A bit of TMI, as each item gets smaller and smaller to fit on the standard sized image map. Similar to my first idea for the FemmeBot head, with the face and hair both shrunk down to fit one map... both lost a lot of detail.

So to confirm, you can use 'unlimited' number of accessories without a CTD? No one every replied concerning limits in their game and whether this was a universal constant, or a situation specific to one's own install.

 

I understand what you're saying about image quality, but I myself have never noticed a degradation of resolution as I equipped more and more accessories, only the CTD at a particular limit, with aberrations when mixing certain CC.

 

My success in quality (and failure in amount?) may be due to the use of that 'program' (S3HQ) I have running constantly which increases the in-game Sim texture/clothing object's resolution which attempts to make Sims have the same resolution/quality live as when in CAS. I also have some settings tweaked per that post from Steam I referenced to increase game performance I mentioned in Tech help. If anything, I'm more aware of 'low-res' textures used by mod makers when they go live and are seen side by side with higher quality CC. These low-res textures seem to be found on much older CC FYI.

 

Warnings of 'poly count' seemed to be a thing I don't see much of anymore - I guess it's another example of the better graphics cards being used today. Using a 40" LCD TV for a monitor limits the base game resolution I run at anyways - 1080P (1920x1080) and only when using my Oculus do I attempt to increase resolution as the images presented in each 'eye' benefit from that increase.

It happened to me, I had attributed it to some CC defect but after reading this I realize that it far exceeds that number of accessories, in fact all the Sim wore were accessories, earrings, necklace, handcuffs on hands and feet, the chest cleavage, stockings bdsm harnesses and garter belt ,,, No wonder he skipped the game. From now on I will be more careful with that, Thank you

The penis is black. Is that a common issue? (I'm using KW 4-05). Also my female sim has invisible feet during sex. Any ideas why or what I can do to fix that? I had both versions of the CmarNYC Penis installed. I hope removing the other's files fixes the black penis.
I'm trying to make sense of this:

How do you just turn off Nraas Woohooer woohooing features?
Do you under NRaas > Woohooer > General > set "Visibility: Sim Menu" to False? or under NRaas > Woohooer >  WooHoo > "Hide Woohoo Interaction" to True?

I have never had a sim that I felt needs 9 accessory pieces, so have never tried what you suggest.

 

Off the top of my head... 1 glasses, 2 earrings, 3 necklaces, 4 armbands, 5 bracelets, 6 gloves, 7 rings, 8 socks, 9 left garter, 10 right garter, 11 vampire/ werewolf teeth, 12 neck tatoo...

 

So, 12 categories that I can think of, and nothing EA did makes it to maximum, so I would image issues when you have 9 (75% capacity) accessories on one sim. Plus, you have the mapping issue, which I guess you may not notice on accessories of low detail to begin with.

It was early June. However, it will basically never be "legal" to post here. Keep in mind that this site is based in the US. US copyright law is fairly complicated, but can be summed up as:

 

Anything created before Mickey Mouse is out of copyright, and anything created after Mickey Mouse will never be out of copyright.

No. In the US copyright registration is just to make it easier to win copyright lawsuits--the copyright exists the moment the work is created. It's unlikely that there would ever be a lawsuit over a mod, but that doesn't mean the LL admins would want to take the chance.

 

I think it's not really a question of legality so much as "is the author still alive and likely to complain." Oniki is still alive and active (at least on Patreon), it's just KW that was abandoned.

I don't believe accessories equipped via game script causes an issue for me, only when I pick and choose. This is why I never equip KW panties, I usually just customize them when worn. I use every dirty trick I know to keep the game running and try not to rock the boat when it does.

Early June = Thank you. I appreciate your interpretation of copyright law, but it has nothing to do with the issue. Charging money for mods using any associated resources/code/etc. which is copyrighted is an issue. Using or making mods where no profit is concerned is fine. Copyright laws were made to protect the ability of the holder to profit from their claim. As long as one must purchase the original product then profit is made. If one followed what logic you were trying to present, then EVERY mod would be in violation - and that's a shitload of mods.

 

My interest points to LoversLab rules concerning the posting of actual mods (or linking them) when the original author is a member and has an existing post offering said mod. This is why I can share Mike24 pets which he removed, but it wouldn't be proper to simply repost them. If someone wanted to share newer KW versions through a PM, there's not a lot LL would do as it's not being made 'public' by the site. I hope this clarifies things pertaining to my request for the date of KW build 4.08 bugfix.

  I think LS is right about the invisible feet during sex animations because my sim is wearing something that is invisible for socks/shoes but in CAS still show her feet. It's probably that.

The only copyright of consequence here is that of EA, which holds the copyright for all the Sims games.  As part of their user agreement, you can create any mods or other CC you like, but you can't charge for them.  With that in mind, any content creator would have no standing for a claim of copyright violation, because they could not show any harm they suffered as a result of dissemination of their content, with one important proviso:  you must attribute the content to the correct creator (i.e. you can't claim it as your own).

 

However...

 

LL has their own user agreement, which may impose other limitations on what you can do on this site, and these do not have to have anything to do with copyright.  The rules are the rules.

 

I know many of you already know this because we've had this discussion before, but for those who don't, take heed.  Whatever rules LL makes, you're bound by them as regards to any posting on this site.  If you want to know what the rules are, there's a time-honored method for finding out:  Read them.

Don't know how much that matters for what I'm talking about. You may or may not have ever opened world cache package files, but sims are saved there, and I'd have to find the article again, but they are saved elsewhere by the game, as visual reference for those SIMO files in the saves. They have every piece that you added to a sim, squeezed onto one image map, and as you squeeze more on, it is accessories that are reduced in size to fit, and so become blurred.

This is how the game see Voyna Legion (my war demon) in one of her disguises. The top right corners are for accessories. The map will not become larger, so to fit more accessories, each accessory image is made smaller, and smaller. That causes them to become blurred. This is what I was referring to.
