I Like Nexus Because...

The Nexus serves the sole purpose as a Mod Resource for me.Like stated before in this thread as long as you use it ONLY to DL mods you usually

won't have any problems.I've been a member since 2007 and have posted only 32 times and most of that was when I first came there, now I only DL mods and maybe post feedback and bug reports if the modder ask for it.

I only like Nexus because it has mods for

Fallout 3/New Vegas

Dragon Age Origins / 2

The Elder Scroll: Skyrim

also the other reason I like nexus is because the mod/admin (whatever) are very reliable on being such a dick when it comes to a thing called "Abusing Power" as you are not allowed to give out very harsh opinions.

I like Nexus because I get a great workout for my eyeballs as I roll them at people who kiss Dark0ne's ass and bow down in worship at every announcement he makes.

As someone who actually does do said exercises, as well many other odd ones, I endorse this post. Seems like most people forget that eyes need exercise!

I like the layout. The ease of finding mods and whatnot.

Though admittedly more under the old system than the new one, but it's still very nice. I have to admit they are leagues better than the other mod sites they replaced fully over the course of oblivion.

Their mod team can stuff it though.

And see if you all still like Nexus. :@

Allow me to wander off topic for long enough to recommend Ghostery for Firefox. Extreme Tracker is one of the things it blocks. Also look at better privacy and request policy while you're at it.

That said: Nexus is useful. I think it needs a coherent moderation policy and some of its moderators need a swift boot up the jaxi, but the site is useful.

On the other hand, I don't join in the discussions except for a the occasional bug report, and I don't intend to post my mods there. "works for me", I guess.

I like Nexus because it's a convenient, user-friendly modding resource. It has its shortcomings, of course, but IMO they don't come close to outweighing its usefulness. Speak softly, don't mention that you have a big stick, and all should be well. ;)

I like Nexus because I can download hundreds of highly rated and recommended mods that STILL manage to over-write files they have no right to over-write.

I love the Nexus because I can download a mod based in the ICWaterfront that STILL manages to break Divine Elegance in the Market District.

I like the Nexus because everytime I download a mod, I have to go through the Meshes and Textures folders file-by-file before I even consider installing it. Most of the time, I don't.

There are great files there. But random searches and installs are a very, very bad idea.

They just got three new sites! And one of them, the Mount & Blade Nexus, has finally got me to try out this series. So I got Warband. Holy shit is this game amazing, it is quickly making its way up to my favorite games of all time. If not for the nexus, I might never of tried it out.

I like nexus because of the banned thread. :D You have to admit some of the banns where pretty funny.

I like nexus because of the mod seletion, like a lot of people. Especially for Fallout and Skyrim (because seriously there's really no other place ATM that I know of anyway for (non adult) mods on a semi-massive scale.

But then again since it's basically a monopoly, it's a moot point anyway.

only problem is now I have something I wanna upload and I'm B& (and I don't dare upload it to my alt in fear that someone might make the connection, even after two years.)

I like Nexus only because of 90% mods i get from there for Elder Scrolls games. I don't care about their admins. I saw many people get banned for silly stuff. But i don't care i find mod i like i download it, give endorsment write a good comment and let go. I don't get into any conversations or anything.

Let me start by saying that many bans could have been handled better by the mods.

But I like that most bans there gives me something fun to read about!

I think my post count there is around 0, but it's great for getting mods and reading silly posts and comments!

...because its not the Steam Workshop.

I've never actively disliked Nexus - but if i had this would have brought me serenading to their frontpage. I don't like the idea of Steam or Beth themselves (as much as i love them) getting total control of mod distribution. And if Nexus was ever to tank with nothing to replace it, I believe FO4 and TESVI will make it so mods are -only- avalable through the Workshop. I fear there is a good chance of that anyway.

Right now I feel that the Nexus has enough heft, with the other sites like TESAlliance, to push the devs into allowing us to save our mods as .esp files. Someday i fear there will just be an upload button to the Workshop.

Why do i fear this? Mainly because you can bet your arse that there would be heavy restrictions on what couldnbe uploaded, and the adult modding scene could very well die. If we can't share our mods anywhere but their service, places like our LL die. Guess we'll see if Adult mods get taken down in ghe meantime.

TLDR; I feel the Workshop is a dangerous precedent, and only sites with the Nexus size and traffic will keep independant from the Workshop alive.

I like the Nexus because:

1. It's quick and easy to label and upload my mods.

2. It's quick and easy to upload images.

3. I don't have to have my own account on a 3rd party data sharing/storage site.

4. I can simply check mod pages for updates without having to scroll through pages of text to find it.

5. I can check my mod pages' comments sections to read postings and see what is being said or if anything needs to be fixed.

6. People who have requests can simply drop me a message and I can talk to them about what they want and if I know how to do it or not.

7. I have a small group of regulars who download and endorse my work that almost always leave friendly and constructive comment replies.

8. It's pretty straightforward when trying to contact modders about their work.

9. It's easy to share images with other modders on their pages.

10. There's several great people there that I've tested for/worked with despite the trolls that like to sleep under there bridges while waiting for goats to walk by.

As far as the Nexus Forums are concerned...I rarely use them and thus won't comment on them (I like the combo of Nexus for uploading and surfing mods and this site here for the forums).

There are good people on the Nexus, and there are good people here. As long as that remains true; I'll be sticking around both sites.

Posting comments on the nexus IS the same as posting on their forum - your comments ARE listed on the forum.

So I've played Oblivion on my PC for about three - four months. In that time I've downloaded (rough estimate) 100gigs of mods from the Nexus. Great! A lot of mods have broken my game (I've re-installed three time now) and even more need to be cleaned (How can you NOT run TES4Edit before releasing a mod?)

The worst is this: Its a close-knit, anally-obsessed community that does NOT take well to suggestions, requests, or criticisms from outsiders and newbs. There are people there who WILL threaten you if you critique a popular - yet broken (*cough* crowded roads advanced *cough*) mod.

Having said THAT - I just recently (um, today...) found a few people and modders at the Nexus who are willing to back the new guy. After I made the threats I received there public, I got a surprising amount of support.

Still, having a massive collection of servers and unlimited downloads does not neccesarily make for a friendly environment.

BUT I love the ease of use, the frequent updates, the modding resources, and the fast download speeds.

DON'T talk to anyone.

DON'T criticize ANYTHING.

DON'T use the forums.
