XunAmarox Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Most ENB mods I've tried have nights and dungeons so dark that for me it's completely unplayable, and worse... with most of them night eye doesn't even work. I don't want to hear any suggestions about torches or wearable lanterns or any nonsense like that, I just want ENB recommendations that have nights and dungeons with lighting levels similar to the vanilla game. I've tried using the Enhanced ENB Nighteye mod to add it to existing ENB mods but it makes my game CTD whenever loading a save... I think there's something wrong with the esp or something. Anyways, that's not really an option either. My favorite series of ENB presets so far has been the Grim and Somber ones but the dungeons and nights are too dark for my tastes and night eye doesn't work either but I'd prefer to avoid having to use a night eye effect just to navigate through the game for normal play. The only other two I've really liked were Natural Lighting and Atmospherics and Cinematic Lighting ENB - CLENB but those two just don't look nearly as good as something like one of the Grim and Somber ENB's. Anyways, if you could recommend some that'd be great.
PsychoMachina Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 PerformanceXP is close to vanilla and there are no fps hits. SoftNut is another one with not too dark dungeons. Requires enb243. Softnut v2.0.7z Both looks great with ELFX, imo.
XunAmarox Posted December 26, 2014 Author Posted December 26, 2014 Ah, I don't care how an intensive a mod is. My PC is pretty much a beast... i7 4930k, GTX Titan Black, 32GB RAM, 1TB Samsung Evo SSD @ 1GB/s, so yeah lol... it can run anything easily.
27X Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 If your pc is truly a beast then running K with nighteye/pred should be no issue
Tivoko Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 I think 27x was referring to Kountervibe ENB, it's one of the more demanding ones out there. Here's a shot from the mod's page, but I can take one of normal gameplay and post it in a few. Here's my normal gameplay shots: Hopefully those examples are good enough to give you an idea of whether or not it fits your needs.
CovertDemon Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Why not I Can't Believe It's Not An ENB?
s666 Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Pudding ENB but the modder have again closed the post :/
afa Posted December 26, 2014 Posted December 26, 2014 Performance or taxing on system of an ENB isn't the primary concern here. It is a matter of visibility for indoor, nights, and dungeon without the need of an extra light source be it torch, lantern, mage/candlelight or what have you. Generally speaking I would say avoid any ENB that advertise itself to have "realistic" night or indoor lighting. Avoid ELFX and RLO, Climates of Tamriel is borderline. My PC is no where near powerful, so here is a few that I have tried in the past. Seasons of Skyrim, occasionally it can still get kind of dark but ok for the most part. Play around with the brightness settings, it recommends turning it all down, I turned it back up a few notches. Shift ENB, the one that I am currently using, it is pretty performance friendly, but won't turn your game into an art piece HRK ENB TWO, one of the brightest ENB I have tried, you might actually want to use some lighting mods to it counterbalance the dungeons, I had to stop using it because my video card simply can't handle it.
dragotx Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Huh, that was odd I switched to Kountervibe from Realvision (Thanks for the pics, that's what made me decide to give it a shot), and my VRAM usage went down by about 600mb. I really didn't expect to be able to run that ENB, I've been sitting right at 3gb total VRAM usage and expected it to be worse. It's not as bright as Realvision, but I haven't really played with it much yet.
Rayblue Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Alternately, editing the following Ambientlight* settings under [ENVIRONMENT] -- especially the Night and Interior entries -- by adding up a few notches should make nights more visible. AmbientLightingIntensitySunrise=1.235 AmbientLightingIntensityDay=1.71 AmbientLightingIntensitySunset=1.235 AmbientLightingIntensityNight=0.76 AmbientLightingIntensityInteriorDay=0.76 AmbientLightingIntensityInteriorNight=0.76 AmbientLightingCurveSunrise=0.75 AmbientLightingCurveDay=0.5 AmbientLightingCurveSunset=0.75 AmbientLightingCurveNight=1.0 AmbientLightingCurveInteriorDay=1.0 AmbientLightingCurveInteriorNight=1.0 AmbientLightingDesaturationSunrise=0.375 AmbientLightingDesaturationDay=0.5 AmbientLightingDesaturationSunset=0.375 AmbientLightingDesaturationNight=0.25 AmbientLightingDesaturationInteriorDay=1.0 AmbientLightingDesaturationInteriorNight=1.0
Iskiab Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I had the exact same issue as the OP, almost all ENBs were too dark to the point of being unplayable. I tried a bunch and am currently using OrganicENB and am happy with it. Shift + Enter in game also brings up ENB settings so you can fine tune the brightness in game. The interior is also dependent on the lighting mods you use (if any). I'd go with the recommended mods that go along whatever ENB you use.
Dubhorizon Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Like Rayblue said, just pick whatever ENB you want. Then Shift+tab in-game to bring up the ENB GUI. scroll it down till you fing the Environment tab, expand it and look for ambient lighting intensity. Increase them to your liking. While you're at it, you may also discover the addictive nature of customizing enbs to what you want to see.
yatol Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 I think 27x was referring to Kountervibe ENB, it's one of the more demanding ones out there. Here's a shot from the mod's page, but I can take one of normal gameplay and post it in a few. urban legend here's a fps comparaison of some enb that's without ao (this can make a huge fps difference, for something you hardly see) and dof (this can make a huge fps difference too, for making things around you crappy) it's just a copy paste of the enb files, no esp or mesh/textures that could affect the fps no enb, 59 fps (only have the fps on screen with screens taken with the enb shortcut) what i use, a kinematic mashup (most is kinematic) photoreal enb, 34.5 fps (with some copy paste, lost the enb menu, those are with enb 265) grim and somber azura, 32.5 fps aeon 34.9 fps (that one need more brightness) unbleak 28.7 serenity 32.5 season true hdr 34.5 kinematic 34.9 (more performance friendly than mine) k en pure light 29.5 bleak 35.9 don't know where i put kountervibe, but it's another version of k, fps is similar no enb 54 fps what i use, 26.7 photoreal enb 35.5 grim and somber azura 32 aeon 35.9 unbleak 39.8 serenity 33 season true hdr 36.4 kinematic 37.4 k enb pure light 35.9 bleak 40.4 no enb, don't know, if i load that save without enb i ctd what i use 15 fps (those copy paste killed my rain, but it's the fps that matter) photoreal 12.6 grim and somber azura 14.8 aeon 15.9 aeion with more brightness (still 15.7 of course) unbleak 17.4 serenity 12.4 season true hdr 16 kinematic 14.3 k enb pure light 12 bleak 15.2 whatever enb you pick, fps impact is about the same
27X Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 50% impact is a BFD and even 8 frames on a 60 frame cap is 12% difference, that's not "about" the same, esp considering you have a literal 50% [46/27frame difference between the efficiency levels. K Pure also uses up to 8K downsampling which probably not would even render at 5 fps on your set up. Kyo even states in his nexus and Dead End initial posts "if you disable DoF, Downsampling and Ambient Occlusion, you might as well use a color correction mod from the nexus, because that's what this ENB is entirely about." That you don't like the features doesn't obviate them. (or their frame cost) Disabling AO makes a huge visual difference in taverns, towns and homes, and also during dawn and sunset, same with subsurface At that rate you might as well just imaginator for "free"
yatol Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 K Pure also uses up to 8K downsampling which probably not would even render at 5 fps on your set up. oh really? you don't even know my config, or what textures i use... "if you disable DoF, Downsampling and Ambient Occlusion, you might as well use a color correction mod from the nexus, because that's what this ENB is entirely about." color correction don't have the weathers, shadows, water effects... Disabling AO makes a huge visual difference in taverns, towns and homes, and also during dawn and sunset, same with subsurface why don't you post some screens with/without ao to prove it then? and with the fps cost of that "huge" visual difference
magnetic221 Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Since I don't have a high end system I use Real Like enb Bright nights version from nexus: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/22056/? This is what a dungeon looks like at 50% ingame brightness And nights looks like this at 0% ingame brightness: edit: not using any climate/ lighting mods Hope it helps
zzz72w3r Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 Let's not derail the thread into a general ENB debate. OP posts a very specific issue that is very worthy of discussion. The problem with ENB using lighting mods is that what you can see is at the mercy of the lighting mod's authors. Although it makes some vanilla locations much more dramatic with their manual editing these mods do create serious practical problems with mods dealing with interior spaces. Those mods are often too dark to be playable with ENB+lighting mods. Thankfully the author of Serenity has switched back to vanilla lighting in the latest version. It's still going to be darker than vanilla but stuffs are visible at least. Check out the very informative reference shots. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/51343/?
EdinMG Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 AIR ENB, nights and interiors/dungeons are very bright, you can even set the brightness all the way down, like on level 5, for instance, and you still can see in the dark very well, I've used this ENB for a while but didn't liked too much and changed to PureVision(for Pure Weather and Realistic Lighting Overhaul), the best ENB that I've used so far !!! http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56020
