Xarathos' Armor Workshop - Mass Effect Cosplay for UUNP Bodyslide

Recommended Posts

Great conversions, I am loving the 7BO body with an athletic muscle map and you are converting some of the outfits that are right in my favorites range. Thank you! I found an armor I liked the look of and thought I would point it out to see if the urge to make a version of it and add physics. Its called Dungeon Explorer armor and is located on:

http://mod.dysintropi.me/mods/skyrim/

It is UNPB but sadly no physics and I havent had the time needed to learn much more than the basics of modding at this point. If you like it and feel compelled, great, if not then your time is still appreciated. Keep up the great work!

I'd do a search, I think someone at least converted that to 7B-Bombshell, everything should working with no issues except the tops. I'm using multiple loose item 7B-Bombshell converts with tops that our awesome buddy here Xarathos has converted :D Not everyone has my taste though, just figured I'd share something that could hold you over.

Well.

The new Bodyslide/Racemenu update combination kind of changes a few things.

I'm going to do some testing, but for the moment I'm kinda thinking the best thing to do is jump to a 7BO preset on the UnifiedUNP-HDT body (not HDT+, sorry, I don't want to mess with texture compatibility for that)... which, if I'm lucky, might iron out a few of my lingering quality troubles with the body I've been using, while also opening up the option of using the new body sliders for Racemenu.

Extra customization/flexibility is a win-win, after all, right? As is symmetry, which should fix another long time lingering annoyance.

EDIT: what follows below are the rantings of someone who barely comprehends the achievement before him. Take with a grain of salt before bed as appropriate.

What I can't decide from there is if I'm going to start making conversions primarily for the base UNP-Unified with slider support/etc (so the end users can shift to 7BO, Natural, whatever), or just keep on making stuff for the 7BO preset/shape specifically. Or which I'd prefer using in my game for that matter. I mean I checked the in game menu and the in system morphs are pretty impressive if you've got the tri files generated. I almost get the impression that if your armor is made with the appropriate tri morphs you could have a single in game mesh that shapes to match the character wearing it, which would be flipping amazing.

/flails around

Probably just use the included 7BO preset as my new conversion target tho. The differences between it and the existing 7BO body are really subtle, so it'll make the least difference - from a practical standpoint it's mostly weight painting. And converting for that in 3ds max means I can focus on making higher quality converts without having to worry about how they'll look when they get stretched later on...

It's a pro/con list. But the short version I guess is 'hey, bodyslide is finally viable for UNP body types, so now what?'

I'm gonna mess with it for awhile and do some more reading while I decide what'd be best but if anyone wants to weigh in feel free.

I played with it a bit, that's why I was trying to convert armors and failing miserably. I did a couple of changes to their 7BO preset to make it a little more to my taste, nothing to crazy. I will say I had a hell of a time getting the neck to line up though had to set low and high to 50% to avoid overlapping neck on max weight. Anything below Max I get a neck gap, real weird. Here's a couple of screens and I included the preset for bodyslide and the .nif's in case you want to check it out

wouldn't it be simple to just make a quick BS convert of any UUNP armors to 7BO? it seems to me (a nif noob) like doing the UUNP version and then creating a 7BO BS conversion, and releasing both, would be the best. although i'm not sure how long UUNP conversions take.

(the weighting though... HNNG!)

Link to comment

In theory, yeah. It's a tradeoff, though.

Converting to a single body type, in theory, means you can focus on making sure it looks as good as possible on that body. Which is part of why I do most of my converting in 3dsMax anyway. Converting to bodyslide gives you a more flexible result, but increases the likelihood that at least some of those bodyslide outputs are going to be lower in quality (odd stretching, whatever else).

Whether it actually works out that way, or matters, is gonna depend on who you ask.

But yeah, the 7BO output on the UnifiedUNP is just. Very, very nice. Weighting and everything else so far. I keep expecting to wake up, because looking at it move is like I'm dreaming. o.o

Well, after that speech I did some testing and experimenting and I learned a couple of important things; firstly, that I was totally right. If I want to maximize quality, using 3DS to make the conversion for the specific shape I'm gonna be using it for is the way to go.

That said? Bodyslide does open up a few intriguing possibilities for me - making modified versions of the 'base' 7BO preset for specific outfits, for instance (tweaking the cleavage for outfits that might sensibly need it, and so on). And the new UNP Unified does open things up for others who aren't quite so obsessed with little fiddly details as I am to make conversions that way. The UNPUnified Base Shape is pretty much identical to the max weight CBBE, IE standard for BodySlide, which makes converting existing bodyslide outfits to it pretty simple.

I'm just ... well. Me, I'm going to be sticking with the shorter list of shapes that I like, but using the bodyslide outputs as a jumping off point. At least for the moment. And I'll show you why in a sec.

See I tried doing a bodyslide version of the UNP bikini converts I did earlier, and at min weight it looked sort of acceptable, and at max weight the straps were like unnaturally twisted in places and didn't look at all like they should - which is a known hazard of doing anything automatically, I've found. You do stuff by hand instead, and, well.

You end up with a result like this:

post-233165-0-07963200-1427330436_thumb.jpgpost-233165-0-34807200-1427330437_thumb.jpgpost-233165-0-19706200-1427330438_thumb.jpgpost-233165-0-86768100-1427330438_thumb.jpgpost-233165-0-71840600-1427330439_thumb.jpgpost-233165-0-71671800-1427330440_thumb.jpgpost-233165-0-92562100-1427330441_thumb.jpgpost-233165-0-72049400-1427330442_thumb.jpg

This is the new 3DS version I made to fit the UNPUnified 7BO preset. Just a few minor tweaks from my previous conversion, reweighted, and ready to go. And by GOD I mean just LOOK AT IT o.o

So yeah that's where I think I'm headed - a new base shape to the body that's a bit more accessible (everyone has access to UNP Unified now), with minor outfit specific variations when it seems appropriate.

And if I end up making any tweaks to the preset that I wanna run with, well I guess what happens happens.

Sound good?

EDIT: the above isn't QUITE ready for release, but the amount of work needed to get it there is gonna be pretty minimal NifSkope stuff, so if everyone's cool with the new direction I'll put it together as an updated/rerelease.

so then you will be using their stock 7BO as oppose to the 7BO from the Oppai thread then correct? I'll switch to w.e I need to to use your awesome conversions. lol

Correct, yeah. And damn, the vote of confidence is appreciated. ^^

For sure man, you do great work and your Tumblr keeps me entertained to no end lol. You do great work, and ever since trying to convert an armor I have a new found appreciation for the work you converters do! lol Thanks for sharing you stuff with us even though you really don't have to, I for one couldn't play skyrim without you wonderful mod authors

Uploaded my new convert of the bikini trouble set; hand converted in 3dsMax for the UUNP-7BO preset. Screenshots are above - I'll have to take some new ones to replace the showcase on the set (or if anyone else would like to contribute some and have them featured that'd be cool too xD). Anyway, not the point. Modified ESP is still included and needed because of my changes to the slot assignments. Bottoms use slot 52, the full outfit should hide slot 52 without unequipping it buuuuuuuuuuut that behavior might not always be consistent with that if SOS is being used. I have to do further testing.

Currently requires the original download for ground meshes/textures. I'm leaving the last conversion up for now but I'm reasonably sure this is the final version. Which is exciting, right?

A couple of shots from today just looking at the different transparency versions and whatnot.

Anyone cold please convert Castanic pirate to 7B oppai ? :P

And make it stand-alone? I really don't want to download the whole pack just for one armor :-/

I dont remember exactly where but I got this on LL on one of the conversion pages, its either 7BO or UNPBO but it works well either way, you need the original, hopefully this is what you are looking for...

this was a UNPBO conversion, while it will work it looks nothing like 7BO

First off thanks for all these conversions, good job :)

Two questions:

1.

Could you tell me how to open the ESP from "hmm what to wear"? Crashes my CK every time, probably because it's still marked as an ESM.

Asking because i have to add a virtual chest with all the items inside, so i can quick access everything on any savegame / profile.

2.

I already posted about this in the UNPBO / 7BO thread (link) - any idea why the BSLightingShaderProperties in the 7BO body meshes don't use standard values?

I don't see the point in that, all it does is a mismatch of the specular maps. Many 7BO conversions seem to be affected by this as well.

He actually fixed that a few pages back, he discovered the issue a few months ago here. Seems more of an oversight by the original author of the body and nobody noticed. It's weird because original 7B did not have the issue, but every version thats come out since seems to have the issue lol. This is purely speculation, but I think someone may of been dabbling in some homemade textures or playing around and forgot and released w.e body started it to public without setting it back to normal. If you lookup the latest bodyslide, and use the add-on here http://www.loverslab.com/topic/38362-project-unified-unp/if you make the body from here I don't think it has the issue. and Xarathos is using that version of 7B-O from now on he has stated a page or 2 back. Seems the original Oppai thread has gotten pretty dead. It's a shame, gorgeous bodies IMO plus the HDT Physics is a major plus.

Link to comment

Yep all these bodies will live forever in UUNP ;)

However if you're using actual 7BO outfits (or 7B Bombshell which IIRC is the base for 7BO legs/arms shape) and the 7BO body, it is definitely better to fix the meshes in nifskope manually.

I posted over in the UNPBO/7BO thread how it works, takes only a few seconds per mesh.

Main reason is that the UUNP body does have a practically identical shape, but things like weighting, UV maps etc. have their differences. Any modular outfits like "Hmm What to Wear" or "Piercing Collection" are not compatible because they use the base nude mesh underneath. You will also see differences in the UV mapping and weighting if you make some reference tests with "softporn" poses (like legs spread with bare pussy in the camera, which you probably never see even in SexLab-heavy gameplay).

Oh and on this occasion i'd like to thank Xarathos again for the fixed body meshes, because the neck seams on the original body are extremely visible (at least on my ENB and test rooms). Already noticed this during UUNP beta testing, luckily Cell could fix it before release.

So I was able to smooth out the Heeled Boots on the TembtraThief armor, just so they don't look so jagged but I only did the max weight Heeled Boots because that is the only weight I play at. Hopefully you don't mind. Figured I'd share, I didn't see any clipping doing numerous things and I did it in the Isabella Armor just to make sure :P If there is an issue with this, I will gladly take it down.

I'm having issues with the Katarina Armor Conversion and HDT havok object. Apparently the steel plates for the armor and the havok object use the same equip slot (slot 44 I believe). Is it possible to update the steel plates so that there isn't a conflict with the HDT havok object? (the xml I use requires the havok object to function)

Link to comment

It's possible, and easy to do yourself if need be: you need to pick a new slot and set it in both the Nif file's BSDismemberment partition (if applicable; not all nifs have them), and the esp file for the mod - both the armor and armoraddon entries need to have the updated slot. AA might have additional slots set because it's also used to hide things that would otherwise display.

It's not something I'm sure I can prioritize, since I don't use the Havok object myself.

Still alive, incidentally. My Skyrim kind of borked, though, so I've been playing a loooooooooot of Borderlands 2 because the idea of trying to rebuild my mod config is just

not pleasant.

But I know I need to get back into stuff, even if it's reconverting older works to the new body standard.

I'm just feeling bleh. Pandora is oddly refreshing, tbh. I think I've missed shooter gameplay more than I wanted to admit, and its got juuuuuuuuuust enough RPG elements to keep me engaged. I've been debating whether it'd be worth it to try extracting assets from it or not though.

K so

Currently what I'm opting to do, in lieu of clear direction, is this:

post-233165-0-06972900-1429995277_thumb.jpg

My original convert to 7BO was based on someone else's rip+convert from the Arkham City assets. Since I'm now shifting to a new body standard (7BOUUNP or whatever the heck we're calling it) I figured it was as good a time as any to revisit one of my earliest workshop projects... and do the relevant extracting myself. Hopefully this time without needing to replace the gloves or anything like that.

So far so okay. But yeah.

And since tumblr is exploding about this stuff I'll just go ahead and drop this word here: none of my converts will be moving anywhere that'd put them behind a paywall (plus trying to charge for converts would just be reaaaaaaaaaaally bad form). Maybe, at some point in the future, there might be original content of that nature somewhere, but it will probably not be on the Steam Workshop, and if there is to be any such 'premium' content from me it'll likely end up on a pay what you wish basis.

But none of that actually matters at this point because I have 7BO stuff to work on and we are business as usual, albeit slow.

UPDATE: post-233165-0-30039100-1429997894_thumb.jpg

Have to test it in game but the zero weight is pretty much done I think.

I'm not satisfied with the weighting yet. But made a few more adjustments to the shape.

Great to see you're still working at this stuff Xarathos! My continued gratitude for the hours you spend making my gaming time happier.

People like you are why I do what I do. SO, you're welcome, and please continue being awesome.
