Sorry about the links. I'm trying to aquire permission atm. If I don't I will only put up the playable character esp, and you will guys will need to download the original mod from the author first.

That is not how permission works. If someone releases a follower but not a save file for said character you can be almost certain that the author does not wish that their characters are played by other people. Creating a character is a very personal thing and the author's wishes should be respected, after all the ressources that were used making that character are available for anyone. It's not like there is any content that's not available to you.

I mean, how retarded is this. You ask for permission but you plan on releasing the playable character anyway?

Wait what? That is how it works? So in short i can't release a single esp file that the people will need the original mod and find it for themselves?

Well if that the way it works then shouldn't LL have lots of mods removed right now? jeez no offense grim i like you very much specially those mods u released for oblivion and the work uve done, but you sound like nexus.

Hmmmmm, what have i done O_O

Major problem tho, some followers that are ece and cme required is sooooooooooooo f*cking frustrating to work with. Im talking with people who knows how this really work hopefully i can comprehend.

Like I said, a playable character is a very, very personal thing. It's not about the race or the textures and meshes, it's about a character someone made for themselves and decided that it's okay if you have that character in your game as a follower but not as a playable character, otherwise they would've released the savefile alongside the follower. If you try to reverse engineer the follower into a playable character you actively ignore that most people don't like it when you play as their character.

Ask if they're okay with other people playing as their character. If they're okay with that, go ahead. If they don't want that then you shouldn't provide a file that allows others to do exactly what the author does not want.

What the ... There are enough mods for face copying and taking over npcs, so if you release a follower you might aswell expect that the authors knows that the resources provided will be used in a different way.

If it would be that easy there wouldn't be a need for this thread. It's all a matter of how far you are willing to go. Nobody can really stop you from doing what you want to do, that's true. However, there will most likely be consequences. In this case it might piss off some people enough to take down their followers or not sharing further updates of their followers. If your personal wish to play as this or that character outweighs the possible outcome that the majority of the users are blocked from further content... well, it's your choice.

Sorry but your post doesn't make any sense . Most authors are happy when they see their followers in screenshots and they can't know whether that's their follower being used as a follower or a playable character that just looks like their follower. Most people would just assume that's their follower and that's it.

No its not.....if it was personal then you wouldn't release the companion in the first place. After all anyone can convert a follower to playable if you know what you are doing. Besides I don't remember you becoming a modder recently let alone a moderator of this forum so you have no right to tell people who have been modders for the last 3-4 years what they can and cannot make when it comes to mods.

Stop derailing the thread or get out of the thread and leave Mailamea to do her modding work.

It is not about derailing. Did mailmea check the mod authors page especially on nexus ?? Some modders specifically states not to modify or reupload any of there asset. if that is the case. Then no uploads should be made until permission is obtained. Other then that if the author specifically states a modders resource then that should not be a problem.

There is no page for the Nexus.....

Brynhildr Companion now playable. Wait for release.

Took a super frustrating time consuming moment to make it. I still need help with ece companions that dont literally have anything except a single facegeom.nif and textures for the body head and face but no nifs for the head and hair.

Hmmm she/he doesnt didnt post the mod in nexus, she just hosts screen there. A very long time ago she/he shared the companion when i pmed he/she if its possible. Now a days her/his companion is now floating around.

And lastly i didnt modify any of his/her assets, you will have to find a way to get the original mod, since what i only did is made a different esp that reversed engineered the npc to be playable ROFL.

I am sorry for the authors of mods, but after all is just a mod, with permission or without permission the author runs the risk of anyone can modify his mod, because is not an oil painting that worth millions is just a mod. It's just my personal opinion.

Great work girl !!!

Neither do I need to be a modder nor do I need to be a moderator to voice my concern, thank you.

Exactly, I also PM'd the author of brynhildr on nexus, but he/she isn't exactly the skyrim enthusiast and rarely is online and still hasn't read my PM.

How can we help you ?

Really appreciate that you ask for permission first.

Now with that out of the way, I guess I can offer a bit of help. Basically, you have two options:

1. Turning the race the follower uses into a fully fledged playable race, which is no easy task fyi. If you don't know what you're doing you could easily break things left and right. For example, you would need to create a vampire race for said race otherwise anything related to being a vampire will not work. And enabling all the hair, make-up and brow options available to the default races.

2. Turning the follower into a preset of the ygnord race that comes with ECE. If the author used ECE, it's most likely they created the character using the ygnord race since you can mess with that race without interfering with the rest of the games' races. To do that, you would need to change the race the follower uses to the ygnord race and then make it available as a preset. But tbh I don't exactly know how ECE handles presets so I am not so sure that this would work right away.

Another option might be to enable the race the follower uses as playable, check the "is chargen preset" box on the character page, load the game, enter "showracemenu" and then saving the character without changing anything and then upload the CME save file. If the character was made with the ygnord race it should work if you select that race and load the CME save.

I have tried both of that and sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. There are companions/followers that when you turn into a preset you will need to make their respective head parts and skin parts again so they will show up, since almost all of the followers made with chargen or ece rely on their facegeom meaning playable version of them is f*cked and you would reconstruct most of it.

For example orchid 1.7 now relies on ECE when i made her a playable character it was fine but her eyes were more asian looking, but orchid 1.5 the screenshot i post in the main thread looks exactly like her since it was purely made in ck and no ece or chargen used.

I'm trying to make pajiman's nel character into a playable character but its the hardest thing ever. I contacted expired but no matter what it doesnt end up to look like nel. I tried loading the preset lot with racemenu + chargen but its so far off, the lips are different eyes are different.

So i downloaded the companion nel and turned it into a preset made the race playable reconstructed the head parts, result? reverted to the look i got when i load pajiman's preset.

Here is Pajiman character and companion - http://www.loverslab.com/topic/28755-please-make-her-to-standalone-follower/

If you turn the follower race into a playable one you need to make it compatible with ECE. Here's how, taken from the ECE description page:

Create a new ini file from the text in datameshesCharacterMakingExtender.
Type the following.

Example:
[Race]
EDID = YgNordRace, ygNordRaceVampire
SliderIni = commonTriRacesHumanRaces_Slider.ini
Preset = YgNordPreset1.slot

EDID has to fit exactly with (EditorID appropriate tribal Race-> open in TES5Edit or CK) name of Editor ID.

As far as Pajiman's character is concerned, I dunno. But I guess it's important in which order you install what since it comes with some loose head part files as well. Anyhow I think the problem here is mainly that a huge clusterfuck of files and mods must be used to get Pajiman's character to look like in his screenshots - no offense.

Getting very very close to my goal. If my new found shortcut method works. Then i just found out how to make ece created followers into player character within 10-15min. Note that with this method people will not need to download loads and loads of requirements to play the companion as their selves :)

Take note i didnt use the preset lot feature of chargen :) So hope this works. Really close into coming up with a quick companion to player conversion.

Thank you to pajiman for inspiring me to try and tackle ece followers and expired for helping me.

EDIT : Problem found, companions that have elf ears. how do i make the player character get the elf ears?

I don't see any ear mesh but the companion seems to have one. Found out that in their facegeom nif the companion has the ears. Will copy branch/pastebranch to the head mesh work?

Thanks
