Ragsinn Posted 19 hours ago Posted 19 hours ago (edited) Sovereign Node Passion Project: A Local Multimodal AI Overlay Tech Demo Hey everyone, I wanted to share a personal passion project I’ve been tinkering with lately called Sovereign Node. For those who enjoy heavily modded Bethesda sandbox environments—whether you're wrestling with load orders in Skyrim, Fallout, Starfield, or diving into other massive RPGs like Elder Scrolls Online and World of Warcraft—I wanted a companion tool that feels a bit more integrated into the actual experience without breaking immersion or relying on heavy cloud servers. At its core, Sovereign Node is a lightweight, customizable desktop overlay built using pywebview and local WebSocket communication. It functions as a multimodal bridge, allowing you to seamlessly drag-and-drop or clipboard-paste various file and image formats directly into the interface. Instead of just returning dry text metadata, it ties into local vision-capable models (like KoboldCpp or OpenAI-compatible local backends) alongside edge-tts for text-to-speech feedback, meaning it can actively analyze desktop states and screenshots in character, acting like a real-time observer sitting right there on your screen. To show how it handles real gaming loads, I recently ran some stress tests while playing Skyrim—complete with automated ENB screenshot capture daemons and long sessions. Even when a session goes sideways or a game crashes out unexpectedly, the overlay architecture is built with bacon-infused robustness to stay stable, keep the WebSocket pipeline alive, and process the resulting state without choking. I’m just putting this out here as a tech demo and proof-of-concept for anyone else interested in local AI tooling, custom UI overlays, and companion systems for heavy modding setups. You can check out a couple of raw video clips of it running live below. I'd love to hear your thoughts or see what kind of setups other builders are experimenting with!
