Mod X is private but why the anger/crying?

This thread is becoming more and more pointless every day.

All valid points were pretty much made and now it's only going back and forth between complaining and trying to justify it.

Just because you don't share the same opinion as some others doesn't mean it's pointless to talk and discuss about it, I thought that's what is the purpose of a forum.

Did you even read the 2nd line? All valid points in this argument were made, the only thing I'm reading now are the same always repeating opinions along the lines of "OMFG I don't get why people don't want to share all their mods and showing images of private mods is just attentionwhoring, buhuhuhuhu" and "AW HELL NAW DUDE they don't want to share it because of reason xyz"

I don't consider repeating the same two points over and over again a discussion.

I read, but tell me, if that really bothers you, why don't you just not click on that topic then? It's quite simple really.

Also, no need to exaggerate about what you think of the previous posts to make your point, I find this disrespectful. If they want to post their thing, who are you to tell them they shouldn't?

which is why we have a patent process.

Intellectual property.

That's pretty much like implying piracy is wrong. Legal positivism. Because the law says something, then it's good. Well, false.

However here we're talking about someone being willing to share.

In fact, it isn't share. The 'share' concept when it comes to digital 'goods' is a mistake. A simple linguistical transliteration. If it's digital, you don't share. You duplicate an information. You retain the inviolate 'good' with no loss. There's no possible way in the world to put the real stuff at the same level, only by comparison, and then, by comparison, you're wrong.

The only good a non duplicated digital information retains, is preciselly another non tangible value, that is exclusivity.

My opinion is that if you value that to the point you're not willing to share/copy, not given any other reason, like security or monetary, or any reason, even a ridiculous one, then you're an asshole. And you're in your right to be an asshole, as much as other have their right to express it. I don't see that is anger/crying.

I enjoy making mods, and am almost always happy to share them - about the only things that I haven't shared that I've made are a few WIP's (some of which will be shared, once I work out how to fix them), and a big NPC overhaul which I don't think anyone really needs or wants anyway. I don't tend to directly share my own characters free of alteration - but I *DO* share a TON of presets & followers based directly on them (and vice versa). All I'm really doing is using Bethesda's original assets, and giving my take on how I would like to see them in my own game. :)

The only thing that ever saddens me with the kind of low-end modding that I do is when someone basically re-uploads it with little to no alteration & presents it as their own, totally new & original super-duper work - which I wouldn't at all mind if at least a thanks or a link back to my mod/s were provided as acknowledgement...

The very least you should receive is a clear credit and some acknowledgment in the general blurb. What  blows my mind is when people do little more than an unsolicited re-package of other folks effort just so they can bask in community praise they haven't earned. It's a bit like having a photo taken standing next to someone's nice car and then showing it to your mates at work - "check out my new ride".

If anyone remembers hotcoffee mod made for GTIV San Andreas I am sure you can understand why somethings are better kept private. :P

I'm sorry but your argument is invalid for really obvious reasons.
