I was bored so I made a video, now I'm going to go play some comp.   Thank you so much to the mad modders for their work figuring this out.  I added the files I used for the demo to this post to save you time.

 

The new method is so nice.  Incubator is a true G for the repak file.

Nothing with meshes.

 

UI, Texture, and Sound all confirmed working.   Modders are working on the Meshes per my last check.  I would be surprised if they can't make it work considering the new method is light-years better than the Season 1.0 version.  It's all just pak'd files again and modding/unmodding is drag and drop.

i dont see mods being banable unless it gives the players a unfair advantage like making heros to large

or adding neon to the to make them stand out more

 

i dont think they would care about to small as your only really harming your ownself no one else

well im sure they just following discord rules. only takes one of the members to report it, and they probably would get closed as a discord channel

I do think another work around is possible but it will be even more of a hassle. You'd essentially have to do the same as before but now *repack* the files and replace the pakchunkCharacter-Windows.pak with your own file with probably the same exact name. That's how I imagine you could work around it. But I'm sure someone more qualified than me will inform you soon enough if that's possible.

They are definitely doing this on purpose though to make it harder. I'm Okay with that in theory as long as they add official mod support instead, but I somehow doubt they will do that. It's not unexpected from this kind of company, but it's still stupid/annoying to actively attack your modding community. It won't kill their game, but it will change people's perception of it.

 

update 1: It seems to leave your "marvel" folder (with your characters and mods intact) now it's just a matter of making that into a .pak file and replacing the original. However, this does mean it will be even more of a pain in the ass to "test" mods and if they are compatible.

update 2: not sure if .pak are normally compressed or not? so I'm just gonna try uncompressed

update 3: packing process seems to be working got a couple warnings though could be worth looking into in case this doesn't work:

As if it doesn't work those could be the reason why and an extra step might be required to make it work.

update 4:  It was taking ages so I cancelled it, and it updated the file to be over 12 gig, the original file is like 7 gig so Imma assume it's compressed and try again but with compression this time.

update 5: so the lack of progress bar and my own impatience was killing me so I cancelled it again to see if it was doing anything and it got to about 5 gb out of 7 in 20 min. So restarted it, it's slow it's probably gonna take about 30 min to package the full thing. Maybe there's a faster way but this is what it seems like right now.

update 6: something definitely went wrong as now my file is about 500mb smaller but well... it's launching so I'm about to find out.

update 7: so it actually got pretty far, it didn't notice I had replaced the file, and I got in the game I just couldn't actually load any of the models. Which ultimately crashed the game. It's a decent start though. Someone just has to figure out what the requirements are for it to work. I'll try uncompressed for shits and giggles just because the fact that the compressed file was smaller than their .pak file is a little concerning. Because that makes me think I'm missing something. Though realistically that's not gonna help because if I'm missing something that won't solve it.

I think even if you do get a workaround it might be similar to Fortnite in terms of having mods packed into pak files. You'd have to install the mods again everytime you log off the game as it re-verify the files.

Patients people, got too give the modders time too figure out how too get mesh's working again, we can't expect them too work at light speed now can we? I too miss the mods as well but until then, I'm just collecting those purple coin's too unlock more page's on the battle pass so it is what it is lol. Got too be patient as these thing's take time and also need too make sure no one gets banned if a new work around is discovered right? Meaning there needs too be some test's ect. Slow and steady wins the race as they say.

All of that is great but I look at when the next updates are and i feel like the modders will just have enough in time

Thats assuming the devs change something yet again. They might be nearing the end of their ammo

Here is a working Luna topless mod. This doesn't change meshes and just hides her shirt.

This can be installed with Vortex or manually placed into your ~mods folder in your game directory.
