nyaalich Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Aw. I'm already homesick for this thread. I imagine that you'll want issues/suggestions to be posted in the other thread(s) from here on out, yes? (I know you're not working on bugs right now.)
t3589 Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 Aw. I'm already homesick for this thread. I imagine that you'll want issues/suggestions to be posted in the other thread(s) from here on out, yes? (I know you're not working on bugs right now.) Won't be long. Though it might be a bit before I have something playable. I have a lot of the tracker worked out, and I'll be starting on the default mod soon. Once I get something testable I'll move to the downloads thread and resume there. What I'm working out now will make the prototype look like pong. Feel free to continue to make creative suggestions here until the move. Just note that it will apply to the release and not the prototype. EDIT: Sneak Preview. 1 New Feature. NPC to NPC dialog.
nyaalich Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Cool. Believe it or not, I'm not harrassing you about when we'll see a new version. Consider it [Affection].
BoondockSaint Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 'NPC to NPC dialog'...cool! the more intertactions between NPCs, the more immersive the game is. Also, related with the foreplay discussed a few posts back, theres already a kiss anim in the [WIP] SexoutNG new animations thread, something this mod could use in a future. Will the new project have a different name?
nyaalich Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 Why do I have the bad feeling that this will be the "NPCs will cheat on you" functionality?
t3589 Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 Same name roughly. SexoutDRLayer (example application of the tracker), and SexoutDRTracker (the engine). Actually it was NPCs fighting over you, becoming jealous, and spreading rumors that I had in mind when I put it in. Completely untested so we'll see what we can get out if it.
nyaalich Posted March 26, 2014 Posted March 26, 2014 /embarrassingly paranoid fangirl who has already threatened to make a patch EDIT: I'm nowhere near this psycho/paranoid IRL. : P
t3589 Posted March 26, 2014 Author Posted March 26, 2014 You won't need to. Well sort of. You might need to for some TTW stuff just because I don't have it installed to get the refs. But the tracker is a stand alone modders resource. Using it you'll be able to add relationships, configured how you want them to work, with your own dialog, your own stat adjustments, into any other mod with just a few NX vars. Example: myref.NX_SetEVFo "SODRT:rDialog" MyTopicRef ; Set a custom dialog topic. myref.NX_SetEVFo "SODRT:rSubject" MyTargetRef ; Set the target of the dialog. myref.NX_SetEVFl "SODRT:iSpeed" 1 ; Set speed of approach. 0=Stays Put, 1=Walks, 2=Runs, 3=Follows at a distance. myref.NX_SetEVFl "SODRT:bEval" 1 ; Pull the trigger and the tracker does the rest. More to come.
BoondockSaint Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Will the required mods list change? Like adding a pregnancy mod or something like that.
t3589 Posted March 27, 2014 Author Posted March 27, 2014 Will the required mods list change? Like adding a pregnancy mod or something like that. SexoutNG and SexoutCommonResources will be the only required masters. Though some features simply won't apply unless you have other mods installed. ie. If you don't install pregnancy, none of the pregnancy tracking will apply. SmallerTalk is actually optional, but if you want to interact with generic NPCs, you'll need it. ClothingEval is also optional, but you won't be able to customize your looks without it. Spunk integration is also planned as a replacement for Lust, among other things. The only two mods that will break things if you don't install them are NG and SCR.
nyaalich Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Eval lets you set different descriptors on outfits. Looks sexy/homely/dominant/sub. Things like that. Those settings will affect DRL's assessment of your appeal and (possibly?) affects some of the small talk. For example, since I always max out my charisma (DIALOGUE OPTIONS, MOTHERFUCKERS!), if I put on a custom dress from a mod, Sexout/DRL has no idea how damned good I look in it. DRL says that my appeal is 11/12. Oh hell no! This bitch shows cleavage, has a short skirt, and is both pretty and sexy! My appeal is now 14/16? That's more like it. As far as it affecting small talk during activities, I doubt that you'd encounter this as much since you're playing a guy (although I haven't tested DRL out enough as a guy to see if there's an equivalent "starin' at dat ass"). Anyway, during activities, I'll sometimes get "Stares at Tits/Legs" dialogue from an NPC to which I can then flaunt or pretend that I'm oblivious to. EDIT: Also, you'll get [Flirt: Looks Pretty/Sexy] during dialogue or when they randomly talk to you.
BoondockSaint Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 @t3589: Ok, not the masters but there will be more recommended mods. Cool! The more complete, the better. @nyaallich: I also play high social/charisma PCs. I've been doing this since VTM Bloodlines a few years ago. As you said, you miss a lot of the game if you just rise the combat stats/skills. Yeah, tweaks with Eval is a must have: wearing a leather duster (NV bounties), military harness (izumiko) and I'm AK-47ed. With my stats, clothing and druggies I get 10 points of CHAR. Instead of being in awe in front of a post-apocalyptic Clint Eastwood, NPCs are 'not impressed' WTF??!! I needed to fix that! So, yeah, custom clothing needs some tweaking.
AkivaValika Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I am asking this question purely on principle (because I have seen some research on the subject), as I have read that this mod have support for rape, whether comited by PCs or NPCs... Is there support for female rapists planned for this mod? I wouldn't think of many female NPCs actually having both the expertise and mentality for it (Fiends just shoot on sight, a lot of female NPCs just don't have the combat expertise, I could think of maybe female NCR troopers, and even then, the military facilities where they are usually found are too crowed a place, or possibly Great Khans), but female PCs however, if the game allows them to shoot random NPCs just for the hell of it, then why the hell not? /random question
nyaalich Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 Currently, the only rape in this mod (and I believe planned for this mod) occurs/attempts to occur by Evil NPCs if you're alone and it's late at night and it's not during combat (iirc). If you have Sex Assault and have Females set to Bisexual in NG's MCM settings, they will commit rape just like men as Assault's settings dictate.
AkivaValika Posted March 30, 2014 Posted March 30, 2014 I was talking female on male rape... Is it supported? Just wondering about that... Though I can't think of any evil female NPC not shooting you on sight, still, I have seen plans to integrate player character as perp, have they been canceled?
t3589 Posted March 30, 2014 Author Posted March 30, 2014 Everything that was in the prototype will eventually be in, and better. It's true that things aren't going as fast as I expected. However, this is not due to obstacles and hurdles (other than RL work). Rather it is because the new methods I'm using have exceeded my expectations in terms of possible features. Believe me when I say, if you thought the prototype was something, you're in for a massive surprise. I can't emphasize that enough. If the prototype were a tinker toy. This new one will be sky scraper. It already has an enormous potential for detail, far and beyond what was possible with the prototype. It's just a matter of converting the old into the new. This is also why I've changed my plans to rush this to the downloads section. I will continue to work on this here until it is at least capable of the same level of playability that the prototype had. I'm very excited about it, and I am sorely tempted to write about all of the new features realized. But I could spend an entire day expounding on that alone. I'll be uploading builds daily/nightly. I expect by the end of next week this will be well into the prototype feature set, if not well beyond it. That is, if I can keep service calls in RL to a minimum. That's really been my biggest delay so far.
t3589 Posted March 30, 2014 Author Posted March 30, 2014 Can't wait. I'm dieing to get it hashed out. Last night was the first time I've even fired up my game in a week. I went ahead and posted the features that are in to the OP for convenience. They're located under status. Though right now there isn't much to test. This first copy is mainly just to get the ball rolling. I've also added a hints/tips spoiler. Though I will only add things to it that are going to be etched in stone. I don't want to fill it with tips that might not be tips at some point. If you really want the inside scoop, as well as a point of reference to provide ideas and suggestions, the heart of this mod is in the NX spoilers. If you take a look at those you can see what's coming down the pipe. I'm already open to suggestions for adding more 'actions'. I still need to add activities. Just remember I'm keeping them as broadly categorized as I can. On another note. The approaches are meant to be much more natural now. As a result, you can no longer 'play by console' like before. I had an idea a while ago of making some sort of HUD dohickey , where you hover your pointer over the NPC and their stats pop up. I may explore that later, but the console spam is only temporary. Its sole purpose is to get more info when something doesn't work. More to come.
t3589 Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Question to all: I'm toying with the idea of reverse inclusion for NPCs. With the new build you'll be able to exclude undesirable NPCs through dialog. My question is, would anyone find reverse inclusion useful? How final should the choice be if so? ie. Include ONLY x NPC, and exclude everyone else. It sort of feels like cheating to me personally. But I can see how certain play styles might want to get all other NPCs out of their way. And after all, one of the core philosophies of this mod is to stay out of the players way. Personal opinions about cheating aside, I absolutely adore player choice, when it isn't gratuitous.
nyaalich Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 I've accidentally started tracking relationships with Chet and DocMitchell because I clicked too quickly. So, there's that. I can't advise you on the degrees of finality. Obviously, if you accidentally clicked "Never allow DRL on this NPC" for an NPC you didn't want to exclude, that's its own problem if you don't have some sort of confirmation. So maybe Backburner and Exclude Forever options with the Forever one following up with a confirmation.
t3589 Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 OK I've added an include/exclude dialog. It works similar to the way 'start relationship' used to, only it's not processed by the NPC. ie. It's an initial system setting outside of the in-game context. How it works so far: - On initial contact, 'NPC Settings' become available. - Include them if you consider them a potential relationship. - Exclude them if you so desire (This is mainly a catch for NPCs that have dialog problems, but can be used as a preference too). - Or choose to 'Decide Later' to back out. The system will continue to track them normally until you're ready to set them. - Once they have been set, the 'NPC Settings' dialog will no longer be available (to avoid accidents). - If an NPC 'Doesn't swing that way!' ie. is incompatible due to either sexual orientation, or alignment (yep, it's in there), you can still add them via 'NPC Settings'. - Once incompatible NPCs have been added, the dialog option to charm them will appear. This will be used to persuade them over time to see things your way. - When you're trying to convince them to come over to your side, the stat you're playing against is their 'conviction'. - NPCs with a low conviction will be easier to turn, and when successful will become Bi. - In the case of alignment incompatibility, they won't change alignment, but if successfully charmed will become available for intimacy. - Neutral alignment PCs/NPCs have access to everyone. It's only when the PC becomes good or evil that they acquire incompatibilities. - Relations started before the PC becomes good or evil are not penalized retroactively. Though they may mention that you've changed for better or worse from their perspective.
nyaalich Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Alignment, huh? Damn, son! You did go out and get fancy.
t3589 Posted March 31, 2014 Author Posted March 31, 2014 Vanilla companions already have that sort of thing. It just made sense. Tonight I'm going to start adding the compatible relations dialog placeholders. I'm also going to work out a new incompatibility that is sort of in already, but isn't complete. Which is NPCs being 'Out of your league'. A sort of difficulty level.
Halstrom Posted March 31, 2014 Posted March 31, 2014 Ouch. I feel the burn of rejection already. LOL I can see it now. <Guy in tears on a shrinks couch> "Doc, it's about this game, Fallout New Vegas, my NPC companion Veronica....... one day she just mezzed me, took all my stuff and left me in a sewer full of ghouls naked, I think she found out about my other save game using Willow..............."
