[WIP] Skykids - Child races & other technical goodies - No more armor patcher! New CotS R2 Race!(6/22/15)

For some reason, whenever a girl equips the Penitus Oculatus armor, it looks like General Tullius' armor.  Also, using the SkyKids version of the Wedding Sandals for girls causes a mismatched foot texture glitch, but removing that particular SkyKids shoe mesh and just using the standard UNP shoe mesh fixes this issue.

One quick question... are there, or are there any plans for making 'flat chest' variants of the mage robes? I wanted to build a child mage, but all of the robes have breasts.

Yeah, its just something that got overlooked. I'm working on a new girl body, so once that's done I'll have to redo all the armors anyway, and that means taking care of any of the ones that were missed.

On a semi-related note; luthien(contributor of the original source that the armor patcher is based on) has developed a new SKSE extension that handles the entire process dynamically in game(and about 99 times faster to boot). That means no more having to run the armor patcher whenever you add or remove a mod; it just works automagically.

I've got some other junk to take care of in the way of updates first, plus I've got RL stuff getting in the way, but expect to see that released as an update sometime in the near-ish future!

Awesome. Good to hear that. The construction set solves a few of the issues, but it's good to know that the robes will be fixed soon enough.

Great mod, by the by. I love it.

sorry for my bad English

Thank you for this. I attempted to make a file like this for RM3(based on my old file for CGE) on my own, with mixed results. I'll get around to testing and implementing this in the near(hopefully) future.

I am glad to hear that it was useful. This mod is the best.

I'm very glad that you enjoy the mod. As a modder, it makes me very happy to hear when users enjoy my work.

Does anyone know what would I need to do to make the vanilla child clothes work with skykids (at the moment they appear invisible thus make the kids "naked")? I know it's a little issue that has been here for a while and en_hawk will fix it sooner or later, but if it's something that could be corrected in a relatively easy way, such as modifying something in the swapper .esp with TES5Edit I'd be totally up for it. I tried peeking into it a while ago but couldn't spot where the issue comes from, the relative mesh paths looked ok to me...

I always give the kids a doll or a dagger. I assume, and this is just a guess, is that the clothes are tagged for children and skykids aren't, otherwise you couldn't have them as followers.

If you look at scripts->source->hearthfire->BYOHRelationshipAdoptionChildScript.psc you'll find the gift system, this could be the place to start looking for a solution.

Yeah, its an issue I'm aware of, I've been meaning to fix it for quite a while now. I need to whip up a converted model for the outfits, then make some tweaks in the main plugin to get it working for the SK races. I've been really busy IRL so I haven't been able to do a lot(read: anything) on the mod as of late. It'll get done at some point.

Well, with the kid followers it ain't an issue, really, as you can give them pretty much anything you like using any follower overhaul mod that manages outfits. It becomes a problem in the case of the adoptable children when using one of the skykids replacers: as they aren't followers, you are very limited in what you can make them dress up with (you can force an outfit via console, but it will revert to the default after a short while, while when you gift them a dress it should stick permanently). I guess I could try forcing them to be managed by AFT, but I'm afraid it might break up their child AI when "dismissed".

Ah, I see, they are missing the actual converted mesh. I hoped it was just the swapper having trouble with them because of how they are managed as "hidden" armors, but if this is the case then there's definitely not much I can do on my end. No biggie, for the time being I'll try to just swap their models with those of some of the other, already working clothes that I like and use the gift system to make them (hopefully) stick no matter how long I stay away from the cell the kids are living in. Thanks for the heads up, en_hawk, and, obviously, for your great mod  ;)

Yeah, that sorta wont work either... It's not just the model, the ARMAs for the clothing don't have entries for anything but the vanilla child races; they need manual patching before the armor swapper or the SK races will work on them.

Thank you, but I can not get this to work with any SkyKid males.

The advanced settings dont make any change to the face, aside from some like "Mouth Depth" moving the teeth outside of the face when maxed out.

I reinstalled the base SkyKids files to make sure I have the right tris and headmeshes, it all checked out. I made sure I have the latest RaceMenu, SKSE, and SkyKids.

I read that morphs.ini is case sensitive for filepaths, so I made my /actors, /characters,  /character assets, and /facegenmorphs match the capitlization in the ini, still doesnt work.

Could you please tell me if I am missing something like is there an ini setting I have to switch to true or false so this works?

Thank you for that comment, I inadvertently put the ini files in the wrong directoryalready corrected it, try to put the ini files in the directory "meshes \ actors \ character \ facegenmorphs \ racemenu.esp" in the link from my post, thanks post your path is now corrected.

That was it. It works perfectly fine now.

I really appreciate finally being able to use all these sliders. Again, thank you very much.
