Not really much of an update. Mostly just a fix.

 

Added a fallback for the intrigue event to account for cases such as Clangeddon's, hopefully fixed the events just stopping entirely (had to do with the is_healthy trigger I used), added one small branching event during the identity loss sequence (as I feel a couple more events to give the player a bit more agency wouldn't hurt), as well as some minor edits here and there.

 

Since I have too few ideas for events for an actual update right now, it is likely there won't be anything until the DLC drops in September (surely Paradox won't push that back). Sorry.

An unexpected update because I am dissatisfied by the lack of content within the mod.

 

Added new events for the Doppelganger's stay as a maid in case you are either a Poet, Eager Reveler, Blademaster, Journaller, or Gardener/Herbalist. Also added the beginning of the "dominant" path with one event each for characters who aren't as strong or athletic as the Doppelganger, who have smaller breasts, or who became a glutton or comfort eater after the Doppelganger took over. Also added an option to sabotage the Doppelganger when being asked about helping her dress.

Revisited some of the education events to take into account the respective education trait of the doppelganger for added flavour. Added one minor event after the main one to further improve her education is she's rich enough (200 gold or more). Also added one ending to the rival maid story. To trigger, play her little games but be nice to her while doing so, generally be submissive to your doppelganger but do not give in during the event "Of Names and Titles", accept naughty events, become interested in your doppelganger's scent, don't have the dull trait, tease the rival maid about her breast size when given the opportunity, have at least 100 gold or more. This ending is more or less platonic, though there is a naughty event for when you do not have any children or grandchildren. I moved some stuff around so the rival maid won't spawn before your character is at least 32.

If you have the DLC, make sure it is activated and start the game in debug mode. Pick an adult character of your choice to play and open the console. Enter: "event bp1_yearly.9007", into the console (without the " " ; bp1_yearly.9007 is simply the event ID). Pick the first option and let the game run. There are two follow-up events that can always happen, one that requires you to have a spouse, one that requires you to have a sexuality compatible with your doppelganger's, and the rarest of them all requires you to have a living mother with the honest trait.

With the next DLC approaching, I wanted to ask everyone who has played with my mod and feels generous enough to share their experience.

 

What do you like about the mod, what do you dislike? Are there any stand-out events which you really like? Are there any you detest? What is the quality of writing like? Do you like the personalities given to the different characters? Would you say that there is enough of one type of content to satisfy you in that regard? What are you missing most? What game mechanics would you like to see integrated in the future? Are you mostly playing the submissive side? Would you prefer to play on the dominant side and are bummed out by that one being barely even there?

 

What ever you have to share, please, do not hold back. I won't be able to address issues if I don't even know they are there to begin with. And your perspective will be decidedly different from mine, given how I am the one writing all the scenes, scripting the events, etc. Also, there is no need to care about balanced reviews or anything like that. You don't have to come up with something nice to say just to be able to write about the negatives you meant to point out. If you mostly have negative feedback, that is fine too.

Mod is good though these sorts of mods could always use more events. I do like the flavour events for when you're a poet or eager reveler or etc. Expanding on those can help make the rundown become less samey each life.

 

I would prefer more depth to the intrigue though. More events for when you are a rebellious vassal or submissive but not mind-broken.

 

My ideas for such events usually entails... a more malicious doppelganger or rival maid. I have been meaning to write such events but I've been busy lately... playing Elden Ring.

 

Another suggestion I have is an adoption event. As in the player being adopted into their liege!doppelganger's house to preserve access to their legacies. I understand not having this though.

I have checked out the mod with Mathilda (to quickly have a character that fulfills the requirements).

By the time my titles were taken I was well over forty. I feel it should be a faster, otherwise it's gonna be some kind of granny sex slave thing.

 

Aside from that, I am sorry to say that the mod unfortunately wasn't what I hoped for. I was hoping for lewd trickery from the beginning.

Like poisoning you with an aphrodisiac, sabotaging your panties so you have to go out without them to a big event, suggesting some new experimental

treatments to your court physician.

 

Scenes, like taking a bath together are decidedly to tame for me, although I will admit that it would be considered quite scandalous in the historical context.

So, I suspect my suggestions are not quite what you were aiming for, but since you asked for feedback: Here it is.

That is strange. I am usually using her to test the mod and in all my test runs it never took that long. Were you constantly at war, imprisoned, in activities, ill, wounded, pregnant or similar? There are some restricitions that I have to put in place to not create a nightmare for myself to script.

No worries. I am looking for negative feedback, too. To give you some sort of response: I didn't go for anything more extreme mainly because I don't feel comfortable writing it or simply lack the experience for it. I'd be fine with adding such content (probably with a game rule to toggle it on or off), but I'd need somebody else to do the writing (the plain text, not the scripts, those I could do). Interest in the mod is understandably low, so no one has yet offered. Therefore, I won't be able to satisfy you in the foreseeable future. I'm sorry.

I thought about this already. My issue is the position in the family the player would take. Her turning you into her daughter would be nice for the submissive side ("Listen to your mother, dear.", and all that) but I'd need magic for that and I am hesitant about that prospect. Her making you her sister was one of the things I considered for the eventual friendship or lover path, where she actually overcomes her obsession with your help and you do the ol' "We're actually twins. Surprise!", move to convince the others (even though that is, of course, a lie). But you just being her cousin or something feels too removed for my liking.

I plan to. But at first it will just be a quick compatch to make things work again. After, I'd like to understand how all the new stuff works mechanically before trying anything with e. g. unlanded gameplay. Also, I will have to see if I get any ideas from playing around with the new systems or from people dropping in here and sharing theirs as my current biggest block to working on this mod is a lack of ideas for the remaining paths for the one story I have right now. Might just start working on a different doppelganger story for the mod instead and put the maid one on hold if I can't come up with anything for it. And adding some variety is always nice anyway. What I work on will also depend on the feedback I get. After all, the new DLC might get some more people back into CK3 or try it out for the first time and a few might end up here. If they then tell me they think X is great and Y is crap, I will take that into account and most likely make more of X and less of Y or try to fix Y.

Just a concept idea that I had would be; A power hungry vassal forcing the player into a regency then doing a slow appearance swap to take over.

Last tiny update before the patch drops mostly for housekeeping.

 

Added a handful of events based on your relationships (child, guardian, friend, spouse, rival) during the doppelganger's stay as your maid. Removed the previous patch's files and changed the names on the current ones to indicate that they are for the last game version before Roads to Power.

 

Please, do not expect this mod to work properly once the patch drops! Rollback to patch 1.12.5 if you want to use this mod and no version for the new DLC has yet been released by the time you read this post.

Should I decide against trying to finish the maid story and go for a new one, there are a couple of ideas I have floating around.

 

One is a gradual swap like you suggested but not for the player. It would be the ol' witch falls in love with local ruler, but, they already have a comely/pretty/beautiful wife and the witch has to get creative. I thought it a nice change of pace to have the player not be the one undermined and replaced but instead someone close to them for a change. In the same vein, I had played with the idea of someone wanting to become the player's mother.

 

Depending on how unlanded gameplay actually works out (and how much of a headache it is to mod) I might also go for a travelling actress taking on different roles depending on what is needed. A quick update to the new DLC as it fortunately impacted my mod very little. Though, no new events, no nothing. Just compatibility.

 

Please, delete any old versions of IMU you might still have in your mod folder entirely before updating!

 

There are some remaining entries in the error log about missing traits and game rules from Carnalitas as well as unused variables. Both can be ignored (they don't do any real harm) as the former are going to vanish once Carnalitas received its update and the latter are for potential future content (I just set them already so I don't forget later). The fancy new clothing for Byzantines is also already taken into account (though neither royal nor imperial clothes are used for any of my modifiers, so only low/high nobility and commoners).

 

I didn't test every single little thing. So you might still run into issues. Please, report them here should you run into any.

 

Side note: I took out the witchy wife decision I still had lying around in the mod to make things a little more clean and because I hopefully understand the related mechanics that I experimented with enough by now to not need this reference any longer. For those who didn't even know it was there, this was totally unrelated to any of the maid story. Nothing changes for you.

Tried this out yesterday and really enjoyed it. I definitely think you should finish the maid content before moving on to anything else.

 

Would love to see more role reversal, with the player being appointed as hand maiden and having to do more more work.

 

Keep up the good work! The more submissive content you can add the better!

I have now played around with some parts of the new DLC enough to want to comment on their potential future role in this mod:

Unlanded gameplay was brought up by some people as an opportunity for the maid story to lean more heavily into the role reversal. After having played around with unlanded, however, I have come to think that it doesn't make for a good fit. The way it is currently set up by Paradox the gameplay loop for unlanded characters is heavily focused on travelling around, working for different employers, etc. While you can stay in one place for an extended period of time, the game encourages you not to. Additionally, most of the events for unlanded characters that Paradox has wouldn't really make much sense for the maid story. This means that I would have to create a substitute for these events as well as some mechanics (the camp would need a redesign) as there'd be nothing left to do for the player otherwise. Therefore, I will most likely feature unlanded gameplay only in a new story where it'd make more sense to me.

 

Big event windows were added and I played around with them for this mod as I thought they might give me more space to work with for text and animations. But, as it turns out the way Paradox has preset the positions of the character and the text box, etc. big event windows make most events from this mod look... awkward. Should Paradox change something about these windows in the upcoming patches, I might revisit them. Otherwise, big event windows will not be featured in this mod for now.

 

Unrelated note to hopefully cheer up those disappointed by what was written above:

 

I have worked on the second batch of relationship events, this time for the doppelganger's time as your liege. I will try to have them ready by the time the next non-hotfix patch rolls around. It's only a handful and they are all flavour again, but I hope you can still enjoy them.

When you revisit unlanded for a new story, it might be worth it to check out the custom storylines they gave a few bookmarked adventurers. I haven’t played them yet but it might be a good idea to see how PDX did it

I know, but it'd still result in the player having very little content to engage with. Only what I provide then, really. And I'm not particularly fond of that. People should still be able to actually play the game while using my mod.

After my 3rd playthrough, there seem to be a bug where the maid looking the "same" as the main character is. Quite funny ngl.

 

FYI, I dont use CBO as it broke the game for me

Are you using any sort of mod that alters appearance, adds species/races, or adds traits that modify a character's looks?
