Collectible Waifu Cards

View File

--- About ---

This mod adds over 200 unique cards to Skyrim for you to collect, along with a number of other fun gameplay features like a display hall, unlockable dungeons, gachas and crafting! There's a variety of rarities ranging from common to ultra rare, with non-commons having unique holographic patterns. The card art primarily features cute/lewd characters, with rarer cards featuring more explicit hentai/fetish content.

Here's the main ways to get them:

- As rare drops from chests, enemies, and various other loot containers
- Misc merchants will sometimes stock cards, and a special merchant can be unlocked later on who sells gachas - instant card packs that might also give additional rewards if you're lucky!
- A sizable number of cards have also been hand-placed in the world, primarily in dungeons and sometimes in fairly obscure spots
- Lastly, a few special cards are craft-only!

The Display Hall

An LoTD-esque location where you can display all your cards! There's not only the displays, but a crafting area, bedroom and an unlockable portal room as well. It can found immediately Southeast of Ivarstead, though as an early milestone reward (finding 3 unique cards), you'll get a free teleport spell to get there even quicker.

To place your cards on the shelves, it's as easy as either using the auto-sorter button near the nocturnal statue, or hovering over individual spots on each shelf to place/remove them manually.

Crafting and Unlockable Dungeons

Crafting is a somewhat mid-to-late game feature where you can break down duplicate copies of cards to get Mystic Dust, which can then be used to craft unique cards, the key to the Portal Room, and a bunch of other useful items. Note "duplicate copies" - you need to have at least one copy of a card on display first before you can destroy any duplicates!

Crafting the portal room key allows you to access three new dungeons with unique, dungeon-exclusive cards you can find along with better chances of finding more rare cards. The portals themselves will activate as your character reaches higher levels (5, 20 and 40).

Milestone Rewards

These are simply things you can get automatically just by finding more unique cards! They include a few small stat buffs, crafting recipes, and two other simple (but secret) things. There's also a final reward requiring all 227 cards to be found and placed in the Display Hall!

Completionist Add-on

***Because Completionist was updated with a new format, this add-on can currently only be used if you're running an older version of it before v4.1.0.2. (Ideally, v4.1.0.1)

A very recommended addition to have an always-available checklist of every card you've collected! By default, even without this you'll still be able to keep track of the total number of cards you've found and displayed, but the checklist can really help tie the whole experience together. Needless to say, it requires the mod of the same name.

--- Install/Compatibility ---

***V3 Update*** - If you were previously playing a version before v3.0.0 and want to update, you'll need to start a new game! Also, if you were using the old BoS add-on, make sure to uninstall it and get the new version here. Otherwise, if you're installing the mod entirely fresh then you can add it mid-game without issue.

The base mod only requires the base game + DLCs. If you want to use the Completionist add-on, that of course requires Completionist and its related requirements. (again currently only supporting v4.1.0.1 or below)

This mod adds its content to the game without making any direct edits, so it should be compatible with nearly anything.

** Note that major loot overhauls might reduce the number of cards you find in dungeons, depending on what they do. If you want to find cards as often as intended, then I recommend avoiding any that outright reduce or remove the contents of loot containers/leveled lists.

--- Credits ---

The base card template and mesh are based on InsanitySorrow's modder's resource.

The card artworks were all generated via stable diffusion (AI).

--- Custom Card Resource ---

Have a bit of image editing knowledge and want to replace the card art with something more your style? I've released templates and a guide to make it easy.

It looks like a fun minigame, especially if you like collectables.

I would suggest two changes to the reward system from reading the description:
    1. Buff the later milestone rewards
    2. More frequent reward intervals

Seems like fun, I'll definitely have to give it a try.

Ah okay, I was actually worried about people not wanting to get too many rewards (since the game itself tends to buff you up like crazy anyway). I might consider adding some tiers that give you more cards or gold or something. Thanks for the feedback!

Personally, if I were you, I'd stick to the buffs being just carry weight or some other luxury / quality of life buffs. Providing combat stat buffs seems fun and all, but in my opinion it can turn a fun little side activity into a full-fledged quest for min-maxing. (I finally found 90 cards, now I deal 10% more damage to undead!) Another idea might be making the buffs tie directly into treasure hunting. Bonuses to pickpocket, increase chance of finding valuables in containers, get a recipe to craft a handy little satchel to carry your cards in.

Overall, it's your own vision for the mod; just tossing my thoughts in.

Hey ! I really like the idea, it would be cool if you could add an addon that adds more card for those who want, also if possible include card with designs made by real people (of course if you get authorization). Regarding rewards for finding a certain number of different cards, I think that rather imposing a buff it could be a choice at each level (for example 1st level the choice between +10% experience gain speed, +50 weight carried or +5% ATK on one-handed weapons). Also what could be really cool would be that there is a merchant / A machine where we can exchange our cards to try to obtain prizes (like a gacha) and in these prices we could obtain for example sexy followers (that would be the rarest drop rate), ideally some followers could look like card characters, but the problem is that you have to know how to make followers (and make them pretty).
Finally, it would be great if in one way or another we could display (in large size) the cards that we obtained on walls for example (or that you create a house where there is a display for each of the cards).
in any case I really like the idea of your mod, good job !

Yeah, that's definitely why I kept things fairly small, to make the player feel rewarded for casually collecting while not making them feel like they need to hunt the cards down or anything.

True! And the vision is to make the game a bit more spicy/fun with some simple & cozy waifu collecting. But for sure I want to build upon the mod for the future, so I appreciate all the suggestions.

They are Waifus, so should have some naughty buffs as well :) Simplest one to think of - find card, gain some Arousal...

Maybe as an optional add-on, or if I can find a good enough way to interact with SexLab without forcing it as a requirement. (I know the functions exist to interact with other mods but I'd have to look into how SexLab's arousal works)

I'm not sure about everything else there, but I did actually have a display feature in mind and I've been thinking of how to best implement it. I went with AI art because, despite it being AI, I feel like it allows me to be creative and to give the mod its own sort of theming and vibe. But anyway, I'm glad you like it!

So yeah, I've got some more stuff added to my list now, lol. If people enjoy this mod enough then I'll definitely be adding an expansion of some sort, at the very least. As for any other features, they are all very much a "maybe", but I'm always open to (reasonable) suggestions. Thanks!

Have you ever thought of making this work with Triple Triad Card

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/42522

where it replaces the card's images with the images from this mod?  Adds more uses to it being collectable and can be used too.

Huh, not a bad idea and one that should be fairly simple to do. I'd probably have to do it as a separate mod with new art, to make sure that the names from the original line up properly.

Sounds fun though, so I might seriously consider making that.

Update - Yep, toying around with it. No guarantees though.

How about an album or something ? At the moment the cards are just cluttering up the inventory ... A way to display the cards or something would also be nice

I did mention before that I have displays in mind. Recently I sorted out the scripting side of it, so now I just have the much bigger task of making a decent-looking display room.

It probably won't be out for quite a while though. In the meantime you can always just dedicate a spot for your cards in Breezehome or something.

Nice idea, but it would be great to have an alternative designs which do not feature anime girls. I can't stand the look of anime characters no matter how "good" they look. And recent influx of AI generated images everwhere, which all look basically the same, doesn't help. That's purely personal preference though, don't read too much into it.

You are not alone with this, to be honest I prefer the more appropriate type pin-ups for a game like skyrim, for an anime based game sure but for something that is sort of realistic type, well it is when modded right, they pretty much jar and look well out of place.  Same with fallout I prefer the ones that are more 40-50's styled rather than anime, again because it jars with the rest of the games style, do not get me wrong these are nice and well made but well I would not be likely to use them.

I know, everyone's got different tastes. Once most of my planned content has been released, then I'll also put out templates and a guide for people to easily make their own replacers. So no worries, at some point in the future you might just find the version you're looking for. ?

Hi I love this concept. I mainly downloaded this because they look good and they give me more reason to search the often overlooked parts in dungeons. I hope you do more in dungeon placements in the future. I also want to echo that it would be great to be able to display them. Nice work!

For sure I can easily drop some more in dungeons. Thanks for the kind words!

And yeah, for an update on the displays, it's definitely happening. Just a lot of busywork but it's getting there. It's basically going to work like LotD where each card has its own designated spot where you can add/remove them.

A very WIP look from the creation kit -

It's a fantastic mod idea. Thanks doragonmaid! Now you "need" to add travelling card collectors, thieves guild missions for cards, a card collector guild,...

I'd also prefer something more "immersive". Would that be possible as simple texture replacer or is that more involved?

Some different style ideas (powered by AI), inspired by the wildland mouse - but more house instead of wildland:

Replacers for textures would work, as far as I am aware they have to be a certain size and dpi, but what those values are no clue, though downloading something like this then opening up the textures and such in a graphics program should tell you what you want, you already then have all the meshes/texture locations and what not where they are needed, you could then create a texture replacer that just replaces those textures with your own.

Again nice images but I would not use those either, the anthropomorphic look again jars with the ermm theme/style of the game itself, for skyrim I would be thinking more of something like viking or nordic style stuff, think franzetta and artists of that type, barbarian warrior princesses, staff wielding shamans things like that, for fallout 4 it would be more like the 40-50's era pin up, ww2 era fighter and bomber nose art type of images, though fully naked is fine, there are not many that I really like that much, so I just tend to use the ones that annoy me the least or are the cripest and cleanest to look at, there again I tend not to spend to much time in game looking at billboards or adverts, magazine and book covers I see once when I loot them then that is it, I never tend to look at them again.

I am keeping my eye on a magazine, and what not replacer for starfield which is looking really nice, and of course I can now not find the damn post about it, sigh, they were showing off some very nice work in progress stuff, their last post was saying it was taking them about one hour per image to work on and get in game.

Yeah, to make your own replacers you'd only have to replace the main diffuse map for them to work. But you wouldn't want to just slap your art onto them without the templates, or else they'd clash with the normal map and look ugly.

No worries though, soon I'll put out the main templates, though I just need some time to make a little guide to go with it. Technically right now (if you have the know-how) you could also use Insanity's resource, though it doesn't have the larger window for your art and you'd have to replace the normal map as well.

But yeah, soon I'll have the templates and a guide released so you can make them a lot easier. Might even be later today if I have enough time.
