ao2thend Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 So CR ENB didn't pan out. I think I've found the best next new ENB for myself though, Megatheruim ENB. Tell me what you think. The first shots are a bit blurry (don't edit a DOF indoors) but I've fixed that as is hopefully apparent in the last two shots. I tried using ENB's that were very different from what I had previously been using, but couldn't find anything any good. Either its too dark, too performance taxing, impossible to get the same look, or only good in one environment.

Well, I personally think the sun is a bit overpowering and saturates the landscape with that orange glow in the first few pictures. Looks good but probably just feels too 'cinematic' to me I guess *shrug*
Mygoodness777 Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Okay, all of you think you've got the best ENB. Oho do I have one for you. You'll have seen it before, BUT I've got a whole load of mods too, including a mod that makes the forests more dense and more like actual forests...not to mention a lot of really high res textures. I'm using Serenity ENB. You want gorgeous, you've found it in all its glorious 1440p beauty. Sadly, I'm still not sold on the ENB. I never seem to be. ... ...DO YOU LIKE CABBAGE? I LIKE CABBAGE, ....

Either its too dark, too performance taxing, impossible to get the same look, or only good in one environment. I also find them too redish and blurry, even the last two. And I have the exact same problem : since the other day I received my GPU, I tried boatloads of ENB's but haven't been convinced by any one so far, there's always at least one thing wrong that requires major tweaking. And most of them don't really match screenshots (which are nearly all biased). Atm I'm on Kinematic ENB, it's too performance taxing for what it displays and I don't like much the bleached days skyes, but let's say it's the lesser evil. Trying out ENBs feels like Sisyphus and his boulder.

Looks good but probably just feels too 'cinematic' to me I guess *shrug* I see what your saying. The major issue that I've found is that ENB's either don't make morning and night lighting "grand" enough, or they make it over the top. If I had to pick, I'd go for over the top, but that's just me. Okay, all of you think you've got the best ENB. Oho do I have one for you. Serenity is a nice ENB but sadly my GTX 660 Ti is a bit inadequate for such a performance taxing ENB. I don't expect to run at 60 FPS at 1080p, but 10-15 FPS is a bit too slow. You should probably get rid of the HUD when taking shots. Also set them up a bit better. A helpful guide to making screenshots can be found here: http://www.tesgeneral.com/#!screenshot/c12l So CR ENB didn't pan out. Trying out ENBs feels like Sisyphus and his boulder. I've found that the focus of the ENB creator determines what it will be good for. The line of K ENB's have always been good for dramatic shots. Kind of like the Michael Bay of ENB's. ENB's like NLA are great for Naturalistic shots. Then there are the ENB's that are good for pictures of characters like Bleak ENB. The problem is that if you take these ENB's out of their element, they might not produce the same quality of shots. TK ENB is a great daytime ENB, but use it at nighttime and it looks terrible. Pictures of scenery with Grim and Somber ENB don't fully capture the beauty of the scene because its overshadowed by the dark and moody feel. That's not to say that you Can't get good shots when these ENB's are out of their element, but it does mean that you will not always see the best side of the ENB.

About K ENB's it has become even worse than that. It seems now that his main goal is not even to make good-looking ENB's but just to crank all options up until it brings down on their knees every GPU's on the market just for the sake of it. To give you an idea, I play with DoF disabled, my average FPS are 50. If I disable AO, I get ~100. Just by disabling AO. And while it looks good with it, it's definitely not worth dividing your framerate by 2. Without saying Kinematic is the only "playable" ENB from him, others being way too red, saturated and bloom-y to be of any use unless for very specific screenshots/scenery. This leads to what you said : most ENB's are specialized, and that's a big problem from me who just wanted a good overall ENB without having to tweak it much because I don't have neither knowledge nor time for this but it seems I'm chasing illusions. Tested several others today again but still no luck. I guess I will have to learn a bit of ENB customization, take what I prefer from different ENB's and make my own soup.

Killing Joke Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 Well I wish you luck on your epic quest! Thank you, although I think it will be more painful than epic. it's not that hard kenamatic enbeffect&prepass with skyrim beautification project enbseries.ini look mostly like that that's with relighing and elfx interiors and pure weather Thanks for the heads up, didn't know they had an ini for that, I'm gonna check it out. Okay, less blabbering from me and more Kinematic archery crap
ao2thend Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 So, the blurriness of Megatherium annoyed me and I went onto the next preset, Aeon ENB. Turned on Letterbox and a very slight film grain for some of these, but didn't like it. Interiors are definitely a strength of this ENB. So far so good. Hopefully this one will stick.
ao2thend Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Guess what? Another new ENB!!! The ENB was Lumen ENB, and I like it. Its like Opethfeldt ENB, but newer and with better nighttime and indoor lighting. It really takes me back to those days (February) when I used Opethfeldt ENB.

I'm using the performance version and get 5-10 more FPS even with all the settings still enabled and no visual difference (the first few shots were the quality version, the others were performance).

Indeed, I don't see any difference among your screenshots. My average FPS with the full version in exteriors is 35~40, which isn't bad, but the more FPS the better, eh? I liked it so far outdoors and indoors (especially light sources I find realistic), save for the bloom which is very heavy, I felt like watching through a misted window, gonna tone that down.
Killing Joke Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 About what I said, quick comparison w/ w/o bloom I think it's exaggerated, but maybe is it just me? I'll post more later.
Epic Gamer Frey Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 On 11,11,14 I did a little thing for Skyrim's 3rd birthday. I posted it on the nexus http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/images/472350/? Here is the scenic shots from that set (18 images)
Oh I Don't Know Posted November 21, 2014 Posted November 21, 2014 Here are my scenery screenshots I use in my desktop wallpaper theme. (RealVision ENB if anyone cares) Snuck in a selfie And another Thanks for looking at all my pictures!
RitualClarity Posted November 22, 2014 Posted November 22, 2014 Here is a few of my amateur captures; No ENB. Need a better card with more VRAM before I try them, however loads of environmental weather and lighting mods.
stilz Posted November 28, 2014 Posted November 28, 2014 heres some of my oldest uploaded shots from my old install.
