Change RegularQuicksaves = false to RegularQuicksaves = true which changes quicksaves (the F5 key saves) into full hard saves. No more opening menus to make a save for you. Doesn't change autosaves. About autosaves, I go into Settings-Gameplay and enable all the "Save on" options, including character menus (thats set to 5 mins). I've also upped the number of autosaves the game keeps to 10. I did recently discover that entering the Blue Palace (a regular place that I can get a CTD when entering through the main entrance) doesn't seem to crash when entering the side entrance. 1

Because I'm over the latter by a bit, but there are soooo many non-plugin mods that are great to have... either because they are animations, SKSE stuff, or fixed textures and meshes. I have also tried to tone it back a bit rather than constantly stuffing every mod that catches my fancy in like the raving mod slut that I am, but... I don't think I could go back to only 600 mods! Also, as a frequent restarter myself, I've found that playing the modlist is usually way more fun than playing the game, because modders are way better at... basically everything than Bethesda. 😉 600 plugins, 837 mods
Ashra XIII Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 1 hour ago, Miss Tee said: Saving: I'm telling everyone here what they already know. you can safely save every literal 5 minutes (not game minutes). Always hard saves. Which I hate to do. Menu pops up, hit save. So unimmersive to me but I won't quick save. And if the game quick saves, I wait the 5 minutes and save again. Sometimes in a dungeon I will have 10 save points. I reached level 50 a month ago. Had 700 saves. Always after I enter, and always before I exit any interior cell. How often depends on what is going on. I am a slow player. I live the game so my pace is realistic for me. I talk to followers, loot slowly, walk mostly, etc. A little sexy time (giggle) Also, I never know when a group of draugr are going to rush up to me and rape me. (Pheromones) Too close to an enemy and they wake up an enemy in the nearby cell. Getting attacked while I'm interacting nude with 4 draugr is a reload waiting to happen. Not very immersive either. Me using too many mods but the way I prefer to play. Wanted to specifically address this part, as I am a frequent saver. What I do to make it a bit quicker is to just open the console and type 'save <savename>'. The savename is usually part of the character's name followed by the number of the save, so it gets easier with subsequent saves as I can just open the console, hit up arrow, backspace, and change the number by 1 digit. The downside of this method is that those manual saves don't seem to get filed properly under the character and so if I go back looking for a save to reload into, I have to select 'show all saves'. But that's only if I need to manually load a save... if I die or quit and the game reloads the 'most recent save' it will properly go back to the last time I saved. I'm not sure if I'll ever go back to Re-saver, but at least I keep a backlog of saves to fall back on.

KCOLL Posted March 2, 2024 Posted March 2, 2024 glorious doors of skyrim does not like AE if you have that installed could be problem with blue palace and i also have issues with complete crafting and cooking overhall and its siblings they just make so many changes to the CC content that it's not worth the effort to get it working.

Thank you for the tip. I've never had a repeatable crash problem at the blue palace but did the last time I was there. I noticed NPCs were entering the side door for the first time ever so I joined them. Must be some detectable glitch in the game related somehow. It was the NPC from the Bards College you go with to present the poem.
Varithina Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 (edited) If you really want to get annoyed with Bethesda, just load the base game and all it's DLC in x-edit, then do a check for errors, then see how many errors there are in the base game scripts, that are not fixed by them, in any of the various updates or patches. Guest Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 (edited) Looking for tips on using presets from Nexus. Attaching a screenshot of my PC. I am terrible at character creation and even trying to use presets from nexus doesn't work. So, this is my Tina in game. Anyone that knows the secret of using presets, I would appreciate a tip. I do the standard things. All prerequisates, load the sculpt and they look like neaderthal throwbacks. Hope all of you have a wonderful day. Edited March 3, 2024 by Miss Tee

If you can try and find presets that come with both nif and jslots, rather than just jslots. And yeh I tend to find the even when I have every requirement that they state they need, that they either say something is missing or they end up looking off compared to the screen shots provided by the author of the preset, it does not help that quite often they do not tell you what race the preset is for either, and the race can make a big difference in how the character looks in game. What I normally do though is find a preset I like, load the preset in game, then play around with things like hair type and colour, skin, eyes, mouth till I find something I can go with, then save that preset into my own custom presets mod, when I then do a new character, load that preset, then play around with the various things again till I am happy, maybe save that preset under a new name, and just rinse and repeat doing that, while sometimes starting with a new downloaded preset.
Bigglsby Posted March 3, 2024 Posted March 3, 2024 (edited) I appreciate the quest for perfection and all, but that's a pretty damn good character in my opinion. Expect lots of requests for a preset share. I agree though. You see lots of presets and find lovely screenshots, but they never seem to be remotely similar when you load them up yourself. Like Varithina, I find something decent as a base, and modify to taste. Though as horrible as I am, it mostly boils down to makeup/hair changes for me. Edited March 3, 2024 by Bigglsby

My secret for using Racemenu presets is to download a lot of them that use as many of the same mods I already have as possible... in particular, make sure they are HPH presets if you are using that mod (since it's in Aylis' guide). Most will never look good, a few will be horrible monsters, but if I grab a bunch of them at a time I can usually at least find a couple that are either really cute or at least close enough that I can tweak into being what I want. When it comes to actually modifying them, I try to just do small steps and if I think I've made an improvement, I save the preset under a new name so I can go back to that when I inevitably screw it up Then if I manage to get to a point where it looks good, I go over to the sculpt feature and use smoothing to iron out jaggy bits which will improve things even more. And that's about the extent of my knowledge eheh.

Apropos question please. I loaded Apropos 2, DB Update and the text update mod. Then had to track down an SE update. Merged with the main mod file. Worked in game for about 5 levels. Oh, there was plenty of action to see the testing. First, textures are fantastic. Seeing the damage was so good. Eye makeup bugged and would not clear up even if I disabled it in the MCM. Slavetats MCM took care of that. Text was great and WOW. Now the issue which seems to be common. I was debuffed like crazy on health, magic, speech, stamina regen. Slept and no change. Modified MCM settings no change. Ate chaurus eggs, no change. I was at level six and I could sleep for 24 hours and the debuffs didn't change. I was at 50% health regen among other things such as movement speed. I removed the mod and will restart. Too buggy to take a chance if the MCM won't respond so early in the game. Question: I truly love the text and body textures. Is there something I missed? Someone mentioned a configuration file but I don't know about such things. If you have it working flawlessly, I may try it one last time. I'm concerned about it getting baked into my save. I even disabled the mod. Cleaned it and J Containers. Save, reload and the effects were wtill active. It's not respecting changes in the MCM and disabling the mod did nothing. Just asking if you know of something I may have missed. TY

TY I've seen issues with the wear and tear system as well and have mostly turned off the debuffs and only use it for the textures. Even when Apropos worked I didn't enjoy the punishing parts, and use Apropos as a flavor text and visuals mod. Just to be sure, set the "Frequency of Wear Tear Degrade" to something very low (a couple hours) and the "Chance of WT heal" to 100% which means that the heal should always happen after that much time has passed; are you getting the flavor text messages on the lower left of your screen indicating W&T increases and decreases? Those give you an idea if the mod is trying at least to run that system, and if the mechanics just aren't happening there could be a mod conflict (check to see if anything's being overwritten in MO2). I wish I could remember how I installed the mod but it was so long ago and I've just kept the files, so if none of the above is working for you, I've shared my personal Apropos setup here so you can try just plopping this down to see if it's better. As a bonus I also added a couple of the DBs I use which have been modified by yours truly. It's a lil embarassing to show off kinks in this way so don't judge too harshly. My suggestion would be to only have the Apropos 2 mod enabled without the DB to make sure it works at all (in a new game if your current save isn't happening), then add them (mine or yours) back in once it's working. Good luck!

There is a sculpt option, open race menu, on the very right side of the screen should be some tabs, sliders the default one, presets, camera, and sculpt which is where you load and save preset nif files from, but you can or should be able to select a part of the head from a list shown and as far as I am aware in effect drag and drop the wire frame on the image on the left of the screen, or edit the values in the various boxes and values attached to that part, I have however never used sculpt apart from to load presets so just how it works is not something I can really help with. There are several options on the bottom of the screen about other things you can do and the load sculpt is one of those option, but you can also save the sculpt as well. I'm guessing I should zip the three files separately and test your Apropos first by itself before adding the DB and noncon in that order. I did enjoy the w&t graphics and would have lived with the other things if not for the debuffs. They were crippling to think of playing an entire game that way. GAME PLAY MOD Suggestion: As I was building my list I found some dungeon add on mods from an author. These use all vanilla assets but the difficulty varies greatly. New rewards as well. I didn't think I would like these but I am addicted now. While testing my list, I've only found and explored less than half of these. A few have exterior world spaces and running lod will work for them. Not sure I would bother with it however. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12186 The author has many mods. Don't get confused. Dungeon Pack 1 and 2 are what I use. The additional world spaces mods I tried and decided against it. I stress my game enough. Its just fun to be running along and find one of these. Never know what is inside.

Its just fun to be running along and find one of these. Never know what is inside. There are many patches for various mods including a High Poly NPC mod. I stopped using the HP NPC mod. It required an exterior world space massive island and EZ Npc didn't like it. The regular bandits this mod adds are fine with me. Most of the bad guys are draugr, dwemer or falmer. Bandits now and then. WARNING: This mod will spank your bottom. Not all of them but this is not your BleakFalls Barrow. The difficulty ranges to Ok to impossible. I've never had so much fun though. Completely new and without additional assets. EVGAT is a must have though. You will have to think your way through as well. Nothing is overly obvious about how to get through certain gates, locations. (EDIT - again): Why use these? Sometimes you want experience without going to a potential quest location. Some of these will become quest eligible so beware. Or maybe you want something new. But we play to have our sexy time, right? Oh, yes. I left Helgen and went south. There are 3 of these close to Helgen. Entered the first one at level one. Great combat but I got spanked of course. AND punished. (giggle). It is my way of testing all of my games sexy time mods very quickly. ND, Pheromones, Aroused Creatures, etc. By the time I finished the 3 dungeons, I was level six with some experience, some weapons, money and fun. The one new mod was discovered as not working. Still had fun and will repeat this the next time. I usually choose a different direction from Helgen to change it up. I try to get to level 10 by the time I reach Markarth and pick up my sweetie (Remi). Stay with her from then on. Edited March 3, 2024 by Miss Tee

I probably should have zipped them individually and then put them into an archive, but I didn't think of that for some reason. Oopsie. But yea I love the textures, and how it interacts with Slavetats, all that... but the debuffs are insane when they start to stack up and so I tend to turn them way down, set them to heal quickly or disable them entirely. I don't like disabling them only because that removes the juicy flavor texts that show up when your W&T increases or decreases. I've used Hammet's in the past apparently, as Nexus shows that I downloaded this mod a couple years ago. I'm not sure if I had the problem with this mod, but many of the dungeons in mods such as this that I've tried seem to be soo loooong and I just want them to end. Skyrim dungeons for the most part are pretty brief excursions (obvious exceptions exist) and I kinda like it that way. Since you're familiar with Hammet's though, you can tell me if I'm thinking of a different mod for the super-lengthy dungeons.

Since you're familiar with Hammet's though, you can tell me if I'm thinking of a different mod for the super-lengthy dungeons. Your memory is not wrong. There are short ones and long ones. As most are not quest related, I only go in them when I am wanting something fun or different in a playthrough. Why I have only been in less than half of them. I normally like to go in them for experience. Build a specific skill and don't have to worry about a potential quest location. I have this theory that if you discover a location, it is removed as a potential quest location by the game. I avoid discovering any location I don't plan to go in. If I do accidently discover a cave or dungeon, I normally go in and complete it. So I use these dungeons for fun and skill development and don't have to worry about interferring with a potential quest. Super lengthy - hmm. I can think of a few but most seem similar in length to longer Skyrim dungeons but some ARE LENGTHY. I have to sleep in the middle of those to remove the debuff from fatique. Since I don't play to complete quests but play just to play, it isn't an issue for me. I'm just living in my game wherever it takes me.

Yes you are right poorly done by Bethesda. my x-edit with CC content is a sheet of red and if you add CACO to it you are looking at hundreds of conflict's just about every cell in the game. My idea was to finally begin to learn how to manage conflicts in x-edit but one look and i started running . One of the problems is that that content is older than a lot of skyrims players and was never cleaned updated or anything just dumped into the game now you have to deal with it. I think a lot of players ether back ported to an older version or quit playing entirely. Bad move on Bethesda's part and they are going to do the same to fallout 4 in April (but I'm waiting for fallout London if the previews are right it will be good ) Edited March 3, 2024 by KCOLL
