Skyrim SSE now on GOG.

Well said, Uhuru. While I lack your years of service to the modding community, I'm in agreement regarding GOG and steam and microtransactions. In my mind, I shouldn't need an internet connection to 'phone home' so that I can play a single-player game, nor should a game I already purchased try to sell me additional features from inside the game. Not only that, but the steam launcher adds a lot of overhead to the game and increases the start time significantly. (The game has to wait for steam to launch before it will).

I know I'm probably not the norm in the modding community; I use the offline installers from GOG, use scripts to switch save files and plugins.txt files to keep them in sync, and install game mods manually.

That said, I'm not writing here for that reason. I was writing to update the community that the following Requirement Mods are now available for 1.6.659 (GOG version):

Racemenu https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/19080?tab=files (the second file down)

J Containers https://github.com/ryobg/JContainers/pull/97 (this is an unofficial build that works fine for me)

Papyrus Util https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/13048?tab=files (the second file down)

SkyUI https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/12604?tab=files (works out-of-the-box, no custom dlls)

CBBE https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/198?tab=files (works out-of-the-box, no custom dlls)

Schlongs of Skyrim https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/5355-schlongs-of-skyrim-se (works with the file below)

https://www.loverslab.com/topic/95031-schlongs-of-skyrim-se/page/118/#comment-3579762 (changes over to using papyrus instead of .dll). I think there's an address library .dll version too (which I have on my computer), but I can't remember where I got it or find a link to it. I'll update here if I find out where I got it.

Sexlab Framework https://www.loverslab.com/files/file/20058-sexlab-se-sex-animation-framework-v165-110822 (This update is relatively recent, released on last Tuesday) I believe that Sexlab is now using the address library, which should reduce the need for new builds in the the future.

Anyway, with these mods coming over to the GOG version, it should work for quite a few load orders (I'm not sure how long until the DD framework will be updated, but that adds a LOT of overhead to the game). It works for everything I'm running.

It's currently reduced on GOG

-75% SE and -60% AE version.

Just saying.

Is there "SE GOG Compatibility Tracking" thread somewhere to be found?

You can't rollback gog skyrim.

That makes sense because it is a recent release, I just saw the notice on storepage that mentioned it.

I also wonder how mods like FNIS (which complain about non standard steam instalation folders) will work with this. Add to this the fact that skse dll devs will need to make yet another version... Hmmm.

I know it's been a while but just an FYI for anyone, I have AE GOG and FNIS works totally fine, despite throwing a bunch of "wrong directory" errors. :D

Well, i've been using gog skyrim for months, no issue at all (and less bugs than on steam).

the offline installer still shows up as 659 for me.

Yeah, but it's actually a good new, install it, backup the skyrimse.exe file, let it update, rename the new skyrim.se file, restore the back up.
It's actually the only way to use skse after the update, skse hasn't been updated to 1.6.1170 on gog, and it will take some time, due to the same version number between both distribustions (steam and gog), there is a technical difficulty for commonlib and address library to differentiate  them and to apply the correct set of addresses, it won't be an issue for new plugins, but it will be an issue for old plugins (don't forget to kkep the new file even with a name, it will be easyer later to revert the downgrade).
And don't forget to install Backported extended esl support (bees), without it, the game will ctd at launch (and bees is the only fix for that specific ctd).

Also i think gog is waiting for the skse situation to be solved before they update the offline installer.

I tried installing GOG version of SSE again after a loooooooong time.

Even though there is no SKSE for the 1.6.1179 (GOG) version yet, i thought i should slowly start getting things ready.

But the game alone (no mods, just vanilla) doesn't work - i cannot start a new game.

I run the launcher and set the options.

Then i start the game, it loads into the main menu, i click on "NEW" in main menu to start new game, and... nothing happens.

The game just doesn't do anything, it remains in main menu, not loading anything, not doing anything - as if i didn't even clicked on the "NEW" menu item.

Same when i try to use the COC console command to load into some cell right from main menu.

It doesn't do anything at all, except when used for the first time, it displays a frame that looks like the menu for loading a save, but of course there are no saves to load, and once i close that and try COC again, it doesn't do anything at all (it doesn't even show that weird frame again).
No errors, no crashes, it just doesn't do anything.

WHAT THE HELL?

Anyone having similar experience?

Never mind. I probably messed up some settings in the VM, because it finally works after setting up everything again from scratch.

So are people upgrading to GOG 1179 or sticking with 659?

skse and address library are both updated and I see a few other mods on nexus have updated but not all.

And no update to sexlab or DD. ( just SOS ).

Well another way to solve the issue is to keep the skyrimse.exe from 1.6.659 and to let the game update. Then simply copy back the old exe, the game will work, but at the condition to use backported extended esl support from nexus. (oh and update address library, it will be done for when you use back the newest skyrimse.exe.
Oh and use the latest ussep, since you kept the changes in the masters.

It's an equivalent to the old best of both world downgrade patcher.

Hi.

As Shonnen said above, I'm trying to keep version 1.6.659 as the "best of both worlds patcher" for GOG.

However, this requires having the corresponding version also for SL.

So I was redirected here to ask if anyone could upload a copy of SexLabFrameworkGOG_v165.7z here please?
It's the SL version made specifically for GOG 1.6.659.

I can't find it anywhere, not even in the older eevelo files on Github (https://github.com/eeveelo/SexLab/tags).

It appears that there are still mods that haven't been updated to be compatible with the latest GOG version 11.1179 so far, and some that may not be.

Many thanks in advance.

are adult mods form here working with gog version or do they need to be updated by the creators?

I'm running pretty much everything on 1179 GOG that will run on 1170 Steam. Just following the SE Compatibility thread. My only limitations are my potato computer.

Most mods for 1.6.1170 work as if on 1.6.1179, the only mods you have to check are those using custom dlls but you can find updated dlls for almost all of them (the only exceptions i know are lesser nexus mods such as simply knock (but a replacer does exist, simpler knock) or fires hurt RE/NG (doesn't work on 1.6.1179, but the old fires hurt se (which doesn't have a dll) DOES work). For each mods you have a doubt, simply check the downloads of the mods and the comments of the mod, most of the time, the creator provides an updated dll or a third party dll is available for the mods needing them.

This said, there's a catch with AddItemMenuSE, the NG dll DOES work on 1.6.1179 BUT the translation files cause a ctd on launch, so you have to delete them to use the mod.

All in all, skyrim GOG 1.6.1179 is perfectly moddable, the only real difficulty comes from mod manager 2, despite the team's claims, it DOES NOT perfectly catch the correct paths (you have to provide the correct paths in the parameters for ALL of the tools based on xedit (sseedit, xLODgen, Texgen and Dyndolod).

Oh and before anyone asks, the paid creations that are NOT part of the ae edition DO work on gog 1.6.1179 (i tried), but as it is not officially suppoorted by Bethesda i will NOT incure their wrath by explaining how to do it (but it does imply having the files and copying them)(hint, i have both steam and gog skyrim ae).
