Experiencing bug in this stage of quest "Raised on sunshine and good vibes" CTD after of few lines of dialogue. Forcing sophie change clothes doesnt work

Just finished 6.5. Most excellent. I think I prefer the more gradual lead in, so looking forward to when the alternate story connects to the Golden Globes (and I can understand why this is a shedload of work!). Pretty much a full scale game, at this point with easily 20 hours of content. Amazing.

 

Apart from the odd typo, the only issue I had was a couple of soft locks when waiting as a maid, but setstage fixed that.

 

 

One thing that caught me out was

the PC deciding to go for the porn career during the UFO mission. Her decision was a bit abrupt imo -

I would have liked if she had tried to apply to the minutemen through brett, been laughed at, tried to join a raider group in Nuka world, been laughed at and tried to make money selling junk, but been ripped off and laughed at. So she feels all avenues have closed down. I realise that is a bonkers amount of work, but in my headcannon, she tried other routes and been completely rejected. Then, an opening and she grabs it, reluctantly....

To me it makes more sense for a pre-war teen to want to do something where she can be paid well, have a little stardom, and be protected rather than trying to pick up a weapon and go fight. I mean she wasn't mowing down Reds before she was frozen. And the whole American Dream shit of finding that special someone and getting married is pretty much over. Mentally, she has to be going through wringer, and being a teen! Idk about you but when I was 16 I wasn't the greatest decision maker. And I looked at it as she doesn't fully understand what she's signing up for, especially if she's a virgin. Honestly, I think that's why this start is probably the best, when considering the PC's circumstances and age it makes more sense for her to jump at the chance, to get off the farm and start making her own way. Although I will agree that meeting Corsican and offering herself all in one go is a bit abrupt. It could be helped with her hearing more about the studio before meeting Corsican, something to peak her interest and get her thinking about the possibilities. (Or maybe even a daydream instead of a nightmare?) It could also help to double down on the PC not liking farm work. If she's really suffering at the farm she's more likely to jump at other opportunities.

I can't believe Axary and/or Kalistara went through this. It's fucking exhausting. I started hating myself for writing so much dialog. 

 

I bought a $20 Elevenslab plan (it's at $11 now, offer) to test and just Sophie's dialogues + the protagonist ended up draining my quota. And we are talking about version 6.5.0 only, I didn't include anything old.

 

Unfortunately I feel ripped off with Sophie. The examples I tried were pleasing me but overall it hasn't been as I expected.

 

 

I think the Sophie's voice is really good. The PC's voice is a bit weird imo

I can only think of one thing that happened with Slavers. Buffout log would point to the dialogue camera as culprit on some users. Sophie is talking to you during that scene and then is transported to the food table. 

 

So I made a small adjustment in this new version. Before she is being transported, the dialogue camera will stop. You won't notice it. It all happens after a black screen. Let's just hope that ends your CTD.

 

Version 6.5.0f

  • A small adjustment for those who have CTD at dinner time with the Dunmores.  
  • Other than that tweak, I only corrected one silly thing. During "Fizztop Chores", the quest was pointing to the ground and not to the stove. 
  • Uploaded a new file in "Optional". It has all Nuka Ride 6.0 voices thanks to Axary and Kalistara, although it doesn't have the last mission (the Red Rocket one). I did the voices for NR6.5 of Sophie + the main character (remember to use the voice synthesizer or she will sound like a grown woman). I had a little left over from the Elevenslab quota and decided to voice Flat Earther. :grimace:

  • The first tenant of the maid quest is also voiced, but by XVASynth. It's so-so.

     

    My idea was to voice the other characters but, yep, I definitely don't have the time anymore. 

 

 

If you are still experiencing CTD: 

 

  • Post your buffout log. 
  • Uninstall Fallsouls, if you have it.
  • And if you have Vortex, dowload this extension, install it and clean Nuka Ride.esp in the plugins tab. (Plugins tab, Select Nuka Ride.esp, Right click, select Clean). Cleaning is a safe practice. The only bad thing is that it messes up the priority of my dialogues. Example, a character will say his generic line first before the line he should speak.

I had planned, not something so complex, but I did plan to completely reject Corsican and still continue the mod to the end. But yeah, it's a considerable effort, making ramifications, recontextualizing a lot of things. So I said to myself: why are you going to install a mod about a porn studio if you're going to reject it? So I retraced my steps, put a little new context ("spent a week on the farm and you're already getting calluses") to try to make the protagonist's decision not seem so gratuitous. 

 

 

Although  @neeceerae idea of doing a dream-revelation (in case the protagonist has rejected Corsican) sounds suggestive. It would be like cooking the idea more slowly. 

 

In that route, the OB wouldn't offer to train the girl for the porn studio, but just to satisfy the customers in his bar. 

 

However, the thought of that - rewriting dialogue, putting conditions on it, specific scritps - makes the desire drain out of me, hehe.

 

It involves a lot more than, say, rewriting a scene in a book. The scene of Sophie gathering the harvest and chatting with the protagonist took me an hour or so to write. But it took me a week to translate it into Creation Kit.

Seen some discussions on post game mod interactions and i'd like to throw my ideas here.
 Though it could be a bit controversial, but basically the more you progress through nukaworld, the more your mc starts to forget how to wield a firearm and also looses the physical strength to handle it properly (since you don't do any heavy lifting nor move the long distance while carrying fans as a porn star), giving you the accuracy and reload speed debuff, but as a trade you will receive a bodyguard from the factions (or Overboss in his route), they would be powerful and well armed, but with the conditions, for example you will have to walk around in a mod outfits, or have road/city activities that are something alike to Submissive Lola for Skyrim.
 Would also love to see the radiant side quests in the mainland and maybe custom encounters, but that's probably after the main quest is finished.

I installed 6.5.0F.. Just when I install your package and start a new game, the character Brett appears outside the Vault. (Including Nuka Ride - Start Me Up Patch.esp) The game progresses normally. However, when I install StartMeUp Redux or StartMeUp and start the new game, no matter what startup I choose, including all the new launch options and Nuka Ride commands, Brett does not appear outside the Vault. The scene where he shoots Duke just won't trigger. What would be the reason?

It's definitely the dialogue camera. There seems to be a conflict between that and CWSS, and probably PRP (there are three mods editing the same place)

 

In the meantime, install this and disable the dialog cameras for a while, at least on that specific part. There should no longer be CTD.

I'm not sure, actually the Start me up patch does not modify Nuka Ride. Not even as soft dependency. They don't communicate with each other. But I will see it later. 

 

My Starte Me Up patch  only does two things: it puts you out of vault 111 with a vaultsuit of vault 111.

Where exactly is the problem on your screenshot?
Yes, the shadow doesn't look pretty, but that's because the screenshot was taken on an uneven surface consisting of different assets, some of which are covered by a moss overlay.

Doesn't work Unique Player starting from 6.5.0e version (probably even from 6.5.0d ver. (Don't know I don't have it so unable to check))
On 6.5.0c works fine on 6.5.0e doesn't work.

Kept having a problem with endless loading screen when fast getting recalled back to the park when my commonwealth time allotment ran out. It showed my entrance as the sealed nuka rail station so it could really use a fast travel point to remedy that. I finally got frustrated and just did open season and killed everyone. It showed the studio missions as failed and open season completed. After everyone was wiped out it stilled recalled me to the park to an endless loading screen.

I'll never ask that POS permission for anything again.  I make PH videos and play on Horizon Outcast setting, which means,, you don't "blow off steam".  You run for your life or die.  The APC is far superior and more immersive than dealing with the OB dysfunctional personality.  No man like that could hold power for long, nothing likeable about him.  Charisma is the most important aspect of any leader.  He is in no way lovable. or in any way respectable.    IMO,, the whole "treat" whores like shit aspect of this mods leaders goes way past the point of "game enhancing" into the realm of "mentally disturbed", "distracted, UN-focussed ,  and UN-believable, or "anti-immersive."  

 

Anyhow, I highly recommend APC Travel to anyone sick of walking the dog, doing laundry, and sweeping rubble piles while Lyons and every other hobo tries to have sex with you.

On Nuka Ride  6.4? I think I am using,, the origional.  I just want to express my appreciation for all the hard work put into Nuka Ride ,, AND , express things that I find completely "UN-immersive.

Namely,  Dialog chains that only have a single final outcome.  There are many, and some UN-avoidable I can imagine.  But in a disturbing quest chain like this, the option to completely defy Gage, the Overboss, or any other would be abuser should never be stripped from the dialog options, in fact, it should be a major part of the chain. 

 

EXAMPLE:  Gunners Plaza, Gage trying to make me call myself "his slut".  No way man, why would you exclude dialog defying him?   When a person really snaps, which is what this entire mod is about, there must always be dialog and quest chain leading to some "climactic"  point. When a person would rather be dead than do what Gage says, why on earth would they call themselves his slut.   This Would, or COULD , never happen.  This is a huge repeating festering blister on what could , or should be an amazing mod. 

The player frequently asks themselves; "what is the worst that can happen?"  This mod fails to answer that question in the "part 1"  Death is an obvious option, which the Mod author should include.  But there is plenty of room for more dialog options and easily achievable (I suspect) alternate consequences to "mis-behaving".

 

My first thought was, to hurt someone in-game that the player loves.  Weather its a current companion, a settlement held by the main character, or "dogmeat".  Utilizing "Raider Pet", or CSA Abduction in hell for 3 days to random "above your level" sites, or even to super mutants,  Real bribery is an option never explored, etc.  Point is, people who snap do not care what happens to them, you must threaten something they care about to obtain compliance. Bring morality face to face with the player, make it believable. The tools are here and available on Loverslab mods to never have dead end submissive dialog in a raider terrorist mod. 

Repeatability is the backbone of all great games, and random punishments could be a MOST exciting part of the mod, instead of just the OB public humility.

Anyhow, thank you for all the hard work, interesting insights to sick and demented raider minds in this mod. 

 

What I mention here might not be possible due to other mod creators not allowing it for all I know.  But the dead end submissive dialog makes the mod very hard to enjoy regarding "immersive play".  I just came here triggered after defying Gage after the tatoo, denying his tatoo artist sex, and not getting his gun for him only to take a "submissive" hit at gunners plaza (Sexual Harassment Mod) because I would not call myself "his slut" but your mod left me no choice. That is never good for a game to peak interest.  Nor is it necessary for the quest to continue.  In fact, it's ridiculously UN-necessary . I don't see any possible benefit to such dead ends. The only effect from it negatively impacted my view of the mod. Gage saying, "fine you win" at the cross after the tatoo was much more immersive and believable. He had no power, he needed her, the mod should acknowledge that, not kill the players mindset. Simple dialog changes can fix this kind of , in my opinion "mod compromising" , immersion breaking,  mindset.

Thanks, I found that there are some dialogues that the main character doesn't say. It doesn't seem difficult to fix.

 

I didn't quite understand the problem with Unique Player. I'm going to install it, but I don't see why such a mod would interfere with this mod.

@Daangerousda Look, man, I'm going to give you a little context because you're not the first one to come here thinking I'm some kind of professional programmer with a fixed idea of what this mod is. This mod was growing as an organic thing thanks to user input. Nuka Ride is my first quest mod and I had an idea in mind that I wanted to capture: to tell a story from the point of view of a girl who wasn't Rambo. My policy has been and will be: zero weapons to settle issues. If you want to play as the Terminator, install something else. 

 

I've mentioned it once before, there's inspiration from the book Justine or The Misfortunes of Virtue where, basically, a lot of times you have no choice but to put up with what's coming at you because you're precisely not Rambo, and, even though you're expressing that you don't understand the reason for that, that really helps define the character. With both CS and NR they share an idea: life's shit happens to define who we are, not to stop us. 

 

I didn't even plan for it to have submission and rebellion routes, the mod grew and added things by user suggestions. I took on a new commitment. I never wrote a branching story, do you have any idea how complicated it is? Take your main character and start giving him multiple personalities and try to keep the sanity (both you and your character). 

 

But I did it because I was happy to take on the challenge. This was just a simple story because I didn't want to complicate it with ramifications since I was quite afraid of Creation Kit, but I added things as I learned to program, and especially learned to narrate in CK, because it's not the same writing a book than writing for this mod, but it seems you already know it all because of the lightness with which you demand ramifications and reprogramming.

 

"Bring morality face to face with the player, make it believable." Yeah, sure. The fuck you're talking about. 

 

Look, I'll tell you something. I really liked an idea you gave me for that Gage quest. The OB at that point is still a "pimp", but it's true that you are his "bitch" and there should be benefits. I loved it and to this day I think about changing it. I did not respond because I have this policy of not responding to anyone who does not maintain a minimum of cordiality when referring to my work, Policy I'm breaking now because I'm fed up.

 

I know I will change it. But it's not a matter of snapping my fingers, or closing my eyes really tight, to make it happen. I don't know if you get what I'm saying. What you're asking for is not simple. It will take months, but I want to do it because I like it. 

 

Again, this mod grows and grows by user input. I simply have to put up with the venom of some who never contributed anything / have no idea of programming / want to give me classes of storytelling. Just like Justine did.
