It could be a previz mod. Those have a tendency to put things back.

@nitemaresYep. Something's wrong with your AAF because it's not kicking the flagpole animation. Once the animation ends, the audition advances to stage 20.

But you have to fix your problem with AAF first. Reinstall it according to the official guide. Because you will have the same problem in the following quests.

My animation packs are up to date to the author's releases....

If you are referring updating AAF itself.... yea... NOT going to happen.  I got off that train at 1.47 and that is where I am staying.

 

EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I go to update AAF it leads to a Royal cluster fuck that is ONLY solved by nuking not only Fallout 4 off the computer, but Vortex and ALL installed mods....

I have had to do that 6 (SIX) times while trying to update AAF through the various releases.... costing me hundreds of hours in re-downloading and installing everything.  (no free, unlimited bandwith up here, pay by Gigabyte Please!)

 

So, I have a imaged badckup of the game running AAF 1.47, and that is NOT getting changed. PERIOD. END. OF. STORY.

(I did try.... going to 1.54... and everything broke... as in complete CTD every time...so just flashed up the old back-up and not trying again!)

Yea... as I stated in an other post... Me and AAF get along like water and oil.

The last time I tried to "fix" or "update" AAF lead to me nuking Fallout 4 off my system and not touching it for 6 months in total frustration and rage... I have a working AAF 1.47 set-up, and I am NOT fucking around with it in any way, shape or form...

 

Its odd that the pole isn't gettting registered, as I have the Stripper pole mod installled and working in several settlements... (guess you are not using elements from that mod..)

 

It guess this just means Nuka Ride is incompatible with my set-up.

disable the flag pole mod and try again....you don't need it for this mod.  I recently deleted all of AAF and redownloaded everything....all the animations too....installed according to the guide....to the letter and I havn't had a problem with it since.  I understand your bandwidth problems and it sucks, but if you don't ever update things you will be left behind and things will stop working right.  It is the nature of the beast.  In the mean time I suggest just disabling mods that are not needed for Nukaride and find what is causing the problem.

the other side of that is:

If I have to start to disable and enable mods, just to run ONE mod... and for a limited time, what's the point?

Or to put it another way... if I have to fuck around for 200 hours to get 10 hours of game play from a mod... Is that REALLY the best use of my time?

 

This is an issue for everyone, including mod creators. I get that they can't make their mods 100% compatible with everything, as that is next to impossible. And every player has their own idea of what a "perfect mod list" is based on their style of play.

 

If I have to suddenly start disabling mods at random to get ONE mod to work (And I am happy with everything else I am using), is it worth the hassle?

 

Nuka Ride isn't the only mod I can't use just cause of issues with my mod choices.. Insane Ivy is another. The way that mod is created, I would have to get rid of about 10 other mods that I like just to get that ONE mod to work correctly... So I don't use Ivy (and its a shame, because I think Reg did a great job..... but just not worth it more me) ..

 

And that's the same thing here.   IF I have to spend the next dozen to hundred hours Mucking around just to get the mod to work (and possibly break OTHER mods in the process...) is it worth the time for me?

 

 

I enjoyed the 3.xx release, saw the potential and was looking forward to see where JB would take it. But its getting to the point that I have already spent enough time mucking around and will have to walk away for my sanity.  Doesn't mean that anything is wrong with the mod, or the mod is "bad"...

 

Just that it is incompatible with my set up, that's all.

OK.... got everything working, talked to the protectron to go to NW., but i can not talk to him now., he just walks around with no dialog showing up after i say i have no caps.

AAF should kick a scene where you fuck Charon. If the scene doesn't start, the stage doesn't advance.

 

You have the Savage Cabbage animations with protectrons, right? Because that is the animation I need. Download the latest version of Savage Cabbage and reinstall.

I think there is a way to make the stages keep going even if AAF fails. I'm going to do some research on that and see if it's possible to implement it.

 

Obviously, the downside is that you wouldn't be able to see many of the animations, but at least the story would progress.

So the stage did not advance. Try reloading the save and try again. I just did it and the stage fired correctly.

That is alarming. A sign of some deeper issue. A proper mod setup should never require a full reinstall. Not when you add a mod. Especially not when you update. I don't say this to mean you are doing something wrong. We are all learning here. I simply say this to make you aware of it. Under no circumstance should that ever happen with a good mod manager.

 

At worst an update might require a rollback. With MO2 you would uncheck the new version and recheck the old one and you have full rolled back. With AAF it would not even leave anything in your overrides folder. Its literally a clean slate rollback. here will be zero difference between this state and if you have never updated. Assuming you load to a prior save of course. In theory Vortex would be the same clean slate. But one of the things I don't like about Vortex is its tries to hide magic under the hood. Can be more likely to do something without telling you.

I completely understand if you don't wish to try updating. You might try using setstage to advance the quest. You have already had one AAF animation play properly. The one the robot filmed. Perhaps it will be rare that the newer animations are broken for you. Maybe not though. That is an old version of AAF. They are constantly adding features. And perhaps this animation uses one of the new features. Check your AAF logs/console. It might offer a hint at whats broke.

sqs _nukaride_audition 

 

This will tell you what stage you are at.  Then setstage _nukaride_audition xx

 

_nukaride is the quest talking to charon about the audition....so sqs _nukaride and setstage _nukaride xx is what you need to do to get past that stage...sorry

 

sqt is the command to tell you what quests are active.....just find the one that starts with _nukaride

Look, man, it's going to be pretty tiring writing setstages all the time in the forum. It gives me a headache just thinking about it.

Reload a save. Put 30 caps in your inventory and talk to Charon, pay him to travel.

But I warn you, if you have problems here, you will have it later.

Started a new game with 4.1.  Played to the point 3.2 ended and these were my issues:

 

1.  Mayor damn near killed me with a beating.  Took a huge chunk of health and no stim, food or drink could increase my health.  I got fed up and packed it in.  When I started again my health increased as it should.  I have no idea what the problem was.

2.  No apartment shower with BYOP.  

3.  After "Lucy in the Sky" I'm still covered head to toe in ugly-ass tats.  What were those doctors doing for two days?  Yes, it is an easy fix .... but really. 

 

So overall, pretty damn good.  Be nice to have a shower though... ?

Are you talking about the tats that bulldog gives you?  If so they should not be there after the overboss takes you away for recovery.....they go away for me anyway.  I do not use BYOP....I use the other one and use the patch that nukaride installs....be sure that you have the patch that nukaride has for byop installed after the the nukaride mod.

I got you fam. Attached are three things.

 

  1. List Quest Stages.pas-- xEdit script I wrote for generating a list of quest stages that you can copy/paste into a spreadsheet.
  2. NukaRide Missions.tsv-- A list of NukaRide Missions in tsv (spreadsheet) format. Can also be opened in a text editor.
  3. NukaRide Stages.tsv-- A list stages in the same format. Even included the setstage command so any ol' dunce should be able to copy/paste.

That's awesome. Is it possible to show them a little notification saying "AAF failed to play the animation. NukaRide is continuing anyway."? Might help people better understand what happened. Which means fewer support posts here.

And as for notifications, it does appear. Check the video again. Above it says "Nuka Warning: AAF (...)"

 

But I'm thinking of replacing it with a fade to black + message box. Because it is easy for one not to catch it.

Yes, those tats.  I had to remove them myself, thus the comment.

Yes I have the patch and both mods are properly installed.  No shower.

I have a little bug when Cage sends me to Aaron Corbett to get his gun. I agree to to have sex then nothing happens. You can see AAF start to engage then stops and nothing happens. I usually wait awhile some times it takes a little bit for animations to play but nothing happens. The quest marker is left above his head.
