With all the progress I have been making I have decided to include Ryu in my set of commissions. Because HELL, why not? He's popular. He's awesome. People will like it, and I will like it. And I have found models on DeviantArt that will make the process much easier.

Amazing things are happening! With the help of my friends on the "Stage of Modding season 2" Discord real progress is being made! And I can actually show you at least one of the weapons rendered in game. I will refrain from naming the people helping me with the mod at this point because I don't know if they want to be written about yet, But one guy in particular has be amazingly helpful. He is a saint! I am incredibly lucky to have run into him. Cheers to you bro!

 

Momiji's Tenryuu Naginata is already nearly complete and can be seen in game.

 

Unfortunately we could not find a model for Ayane's kodachi's that was of acceptable quality, at least not the version I was originally looking for. I was able to find another more popular set of kodachi's that Ayane uses that look just as interesting, if slightly less viable. They are visually quite appealing though.

 

 

 

I also made quite a fortunate find on deviantArt while looking for Kasumi's Shrouded Moon. It is particularly serendipitous that I found a version that comes with a sheath. This will look very good for Setsuka's fighting style.

 

 

I was having quite a bit of difficulty finding a model for Rachel's warhammer, but eventually I did. And I am glad it was this first version from the first Ninja Gaiden because I hate the way her warhammer looks in Ninja Gaiden 2, yuck. There is a small issue of the models for Astaroth and Zasalalmel's weapons not lining up completely, but it should not be so terrible that we should abandon the idea. No, this is still a great idea! Perhaps the hitboxes will be slightly off but that was true of Link's sword and shield for cassandra's fighting style and that did not turn out to be a huge deal.  I really don't notice it at all. 

 

 

The only real setback we are struggling with right now is we haven't at the moment found a good model of Ryu's Dragon Sword. You would think it would be easy to find a good one. The model certainly is out there. But none of the authors who have it have heeded my request to share it. Mostly I think because they haven't noticed my request, and some of them haven't been attending to their profiles on deviantArt for years. It looks like I need to step up an learn ninja ripper. It will be a challenge though because my computer has only about 20 gigs of space left and it complains about low memory all the time. Also the fact that I have no experience with the program and all of the other programs associated with it. That's the biggest reason I went looking for help in the first place. But maybe I can do this. I can buy an external hardrive for my laptop, then maybe just maybe I can rip the models right out of the games Ninja Gaiden 1 2 and 3 plus Dead or Alive 5. Believe in me guys!

Update: Hitting a snag. Ninja ripper is only compatible with 3d studio max. So I tried installing it, but no dice. I had even less room on my pc than I thought. I only have 6 gigs left of the 220 on my One Drive. I bought an external hardrive but 3d studio max refuses to install in that location. Been deleting things for hours but this is where I am at. I need at least 8.5 gigs of space to install 3d max and I don't have it. Also I am not sure but there may be something wrong with my new external hard drive. I keep trying to transfer files over to it but it fails because of "unknown errors." This is such bull I have the damn space on the ext hardrive but it wont work!

I may have hit a snag trying to learn Ninja Ripper, but it looks like I lucked out and it isn't going to matter. The Tenryu Naginata is looking good in game, but also my buddy found a good model of Ryu's Dragon Sword. And I got to say, it looks really pretty. I didn't think it would stand out so much because a lot of Japanese swords look fairly similar, but this thing is beautiful. Take a look;

My buddy is really coming along now. He just posted some pocks of the improved dragon sword and Rachel's warhammer has now been rendered in game for the first time. It looks totally sweet!

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is all really quite beautiful. I hope these mods make a big splash when they hit the Nexus!

Update: 3/24/2021

 

My friend on the discord-who I will tell you about later-has given me a preview of the mods. I am currently testing them out and having a lot of fun. The warhammer looks really good!

 

 

Only trouble though is that it is not compatable with the expanded armory mod right now. So that sucks. Just a little bug though. They can fix it. For some reason when I have expanded armory on it replaces the warhammer with one of nightmare's swords. That's a weird glitch i got to say. It works without it though. Currently the warhammer is only complete for Astaroth's fighting style. It has been super fun to test out though. Too bad I don't have more time to play around with it today. Got to go fence in real life pretty soon.

It looks like the Shrouded Moon kodachi has been adapted for Setsuka's fighting style. My friend had to straighten the model out because Setsuka draws it in a straight line and if he hadn't you would be able to see part of the curved sword coming out of the saya every time she draws it. It looks like a chokuto now. The tsuba really looks nice on it. I think he removed the tassel attached to the kashira, probably because there wasn't a physics package attached to it. At least that is what I am guessing. Too bad about that. Also I had to apply a filter to 3 of the pictures because the coloring came out kind of dark for some reason, and it was annoying me that you could not see the color of the cord wrap.

By now you may be wondering who can take credit for all of this high quality work? And I can tell you for sures that it is not me. No I met him on "The Stage of Modding" discord under the Soul Calibur 6 request section. I was surprised to hear him say he didn't mind taking on my project considering it looked like a demanding workload to me. 5 weapons, 3 of which have 2 fight styles. But he was up to the challenge! I was very fortunate to make contact with him too, because he may be one of the most talented modders on the discord. And he is certainly one of the very few modders there that can create high quality models. He calls himself "Kazumashirou" AKA Kazoo. Cheers to you bro! Thank you for all your hard work!

kazumashirou has finished all of the weapons and they look incredible! I am so glad I had the serendipitous fortune to run into him on the discord. I only wished I had managed a better thank you for him. Unfortunately my mother is in the hospital and I am worried about her, so my focus on the project is distracted at best. I really hope she is going to be ok. Also I royally messed up my computer Monday so i had to reinstall Steam, Fluffyquack and Soul Calibur 6. By the time i had everything in working order it was very late. So i was pretty tired and I don't think i thank Kazoo like i should have. At least I payed him though. God I hope I can fix Fallout and vortex so i can do my tutorial on the convoy system for "just business." I need more space on this damn computer. I found out the hard way that you cant just copy your stuff to your external hard drive. Not everything copies right.

He was quite willing to do the mod without any incentive. I continue to be amazed at the kindness of the people I meat in this community of modders. I however was very gracious that he took the time to do my mod so I had to at least tip him. Which he reluctantly let me do. Kazoo was like that too. I guess these guys have to be careful about how their payment is perceived legally because they are working with other people's digital property and it would not do for it to look like they were selling that said property. They are just selling their time and expertise, and they are certainly not selling the mod. Mods are typically free unless it is being sold by the developer themselves and that is usually considered a micro transaction, not a mod. Strangely a lot of mods are better than what official developers usually produce, at least, it happens more than you would expect.

My job has been keeping me quite busy. Still need to get fallout 4 working and try out the tattoo mods on my other computer. Kazoo asked me if I wanted to do a commission for anymore soul calibur 6 weapons. I of course said, "hell yeah!" As for today this is what we cooked up.

Another weapon I had Kazoo create was Frostmourne from Blizzard's Warcraft3/World of Warcraft series.

It will also be used by Mitsurugi, because I always imagined it as a longsword. Frostmourne has been moded for Soul Caibur 6 before but it was only usable for nightmare.

As a part of the agreement between me and Kazumashirou we uploaded princess Zelda's sword in two forms. First we uploaded her sword from Twilight Princess, which appears to either be an Estoc which would not typically feature sharpened edges, or just a very dainty longsword designed for a small woman. Both types of swords certainly existed in history but that's not necessarily relevant in a fantasy setting though. The makers of Twilight Princess probably just follow the rule of cool anyway.

As I mentioned before we also developed a Side-Sword that Zelda wields in Hyrule Warriors. A Side-Sword is a modern term for the kind of early rapier that eventually evolved into the long thin kind of sword you can expect to see in films like "The Three Musketeers," or "The Princess Bride."  Spada da lato - Wikipedia Anyway I thought that this kind of sword would be most fitting for Raphael and Amy's Fighting styles, even though it would seem they actually are wielding true rapiers of the kind I just referred to. Rapier - Wikipedia

Update: My job finally let me have a damn day off, tomorrow. I am thinking about seeing if I can get Geeksquad to install a better hard drive in my lap top that will have more space to work with. If I do it will have to wait for a while though. I am in the middle of overseeing a project with PervySage from "The Stage of Modding season 2" discord for my Soul Calibur 6 mod. On the bright side of things PervySage has begun to make progress on porting over the character models from Dead or Alive 5 into Soul Calibur 6. Here are some screens of Rachel's costume rendering. Soon he will plug it into the game and we can see what it looks like their, Although it is still incomplete it will be a vast improvement over my half baked Rachel made from the "Create a Soul" mode.

PervySage has made some more progress and now we can see what the current product looks like in game.

 

 

 

 

It looks pretty good right? Better than I was expecting. Even through his own admission though the costume still requires some texturing. Rachel's outfit is either leather or Latex I am assuming but to be sure it has always been shiny and smooth. Oddly it looks like he put the costume on a model that has hand prints on the its behind! I guess they dont call him the Pervy Sage for nothing. He couldn't possibly be any worse than me though. As it stands we are behind schedule but it doesn't bother me. I am really looking forward to seeing Rachel the Fiend Hunter as a finished product and then creating some suitable youtube videos with the it.

Later the same day 6/24 PervySage added some shine to costume. Its already looking a bit better. It looks a lot like leather now.

 

 

 

He told me that the outfit would be available in the following textures; silk, leather, latex, and metallic.  To apply the mod there will be the in game item replacements or the option to use cdlc-vodkalibur to apply it without using up any in game items.

I love Pervy Sage's stuff. Only one who has consistent latex materials in his mods, which is my deal. The Rachel commission you have looks amazing. I'm too poor to afford sage tier right now. So I'll wait till he releases it for free (in a few months).

So people do read my thread! Yes PervySage is a real jewel of the modding community isn't he? And on that topic, he just completed the costume portion of the mod and shared the files with me. So naturally I did some tests, and things are looking beautiful! Now that he cleaned up the textures the outfit is better looking then ever. Its almost on par with the original custom in ninja giaden. Hell maybe it looks better! One thing is for sure, being able to play as Rachel the Fiend Hunter is a cathartic experience whether you do it in Ninja Gaiden or Soul Calibur 6. And now, we all can! Have a look at the screens. I chose the leather texture by the way. Everything he currently has completed is included here. The only missing pieces of the outfit are the face, hair and headband pieces.
