Warning!

I downloaded CotS yesterday. It was an installer.exe, that was supposed to dl CotS. That .exe contained nothing but a virus! It couldn't get through my Internet Security, but it kept trying and trying, and I couldn't shut it off. When I moved the .exe into my Recycle Bin, boom! Virus after virus. I crushed them all, but so you know, don't dl the installer! If you get that one by accident, throw it away before you extract it!

 

You have a choice, you picked the wrong one and got the adware software install and then made the seconds wrong choice of executing that software and letting it install itself.

 

If you don't choose their "Download Assist" software (adware) then you get the COTS file without the additional crap that has to be extinguished.

 

This is one of the side effects of when the hosting service that previously held the file suddenly decided to drop this file and forced a hunt for a new host. We have since found new hosts that work much better but the author of COTS has been offline for a long time and hasn't moved this to one of the safe new hosts.

 

 

Well, being fair there are so many free hosts without that adware crap, being fair, no uploader should use those adware websites, being fair, use MEGA ffs.

 

When this file was last uploaded Mega wasn't there yet and nobody had a good idea what service to use. Now the service of choice would be LL itself but the maker of this mod has been offline for a while (he's never been online much).

[would you like fries with that] if i find out how to do it i'll likely just do it my self, i like the satisfaction of being able create something for myself, in fact when i got cloaks of skyrim it pissed me off how when i sit down the thing doesn't collapse or fold around the chair, or cover over my shoulders but the second one i can live with, so when i sit down i just take off the cloak i currently have and thats it. but it was just a thought, so if i want it i'll try to make it myself then distribute it, otherwise neh.

repley: never buy mods, if you goto http://skyrim.nexusmods.com you can sign up and download some mods, some are good and others in my opinion are complete crap, it'll ask you to pay for premium but don't select anything and just go straight down to the bottom and you can be able to continue

Pretty sure H isn't talking about buying mods themselves.

Various interesting mods from Japanese and Chinese authors are hosted on sites that require you to pay to download.

 

The mod is free, the host is not.

 

Unlikely to change since some of those Eastern mod authors don't want westerners to have access to their mods.

What are you basing that statement off of? Have you read an article from a reputable news site saying this, or talked to several mod authors who post on those sites about their unwillingness to share? Most likely mod authors from eastern countries have less choice of where they can post their mods. A lot eastern countries extremely limit what kinds of websites their citizens can visit, and where those sites come from. For instance, a country might deny its citizens access to any domain originating from the United States, or maybe anything that doesn't come from their own country.

 

Sorry for the mini-speech, but you shouldn't make generalizations about people you've never met based on nothing but conjecture, hearsay, and random uninformed personal opinion. Forgive me for saying this, but your comment makes out all eastern mod authors as selfish prudes. If that's not what you meant, I do apologize. I just dislike the spread of any cultural device based on people gossiping off of literally no information but what their imagination conjures up...

There are many reasons for mods not being shared. Some good, some bad. That goes for east to west and west to east. (Will we ever have a world without borders?)  There are no proprietary secrets here. If they can make it so can we and if we can make it so can they.  Its only a game.

 

 

 

Pissed off at Cloaks of Skyrim?  Really?

 

The only way to do that would be to create a new sitting animation and the cloak would have to be attacked to skirt bones. 

 

 

Download sites and there "accelerators" are getting to be commonplace now a days. More ad dollars. Second rule of the internet. Read before you click.

I'm not really generalizing.

I'm basing that statement on things I have seen on Chinese and Japanese mod sites I read via Google translate and there were numerous examples of anti-western attitude and a distinct desire not to share their work with westerners.  That's from their own mouths (well, keyboards)

That dress I posted a link to recently (and posted a few texture reworks of since.)

I found that on google, then waded through ~1000 google translated posts before finding a download link to it.

That was pretty much the only thing on that site that wasn't posted on an asian language site that required registration and payment - it was on mediafire.

 

There's a lot of really amazing work from asian mod authors, most of it never gets on western sites, not just because the author doesn't post it on them, because the author doesn't want it there and refuses to let it be reposted.

 

It's not just Asians, there's a fair number of western authors who refuse to allow their work to be on nexus. 

As for the prude comment - you haven't seen many screenshots of asian mods I take it.

I think they started on sex mods before any westerner did.

My bad. I changed the link but never refreshed the page on MEGA so the link never got updated.

 

File path is  Data/meshes/armor/Atomec/Ghorza

 

Link has been changed. For anybody who has already got it,  just merge the Ghoraz folder into the atomec folder.

Just in case you didn't know, that is a second skin. Get ready to fix stretching, seams, etc. while modifying that to fit that to a Skyrim body UV. It's good stuff to learn, though.

I was just going to say that.

 

It's not really worth it for skyrim.  It would be much faster and look a lot better to just smooth out the body a little bit and make the texture in photoshop.  Like the original Daedric Chainmail, its a painted body.

Thats nice.

 

Yea, I found the secret for better leather looking textures. ( I figured out what I was doing wrong :D )  You don't need to use 4k to get it looking good.

Try it again. Mega is stil in beta. I just tried it and it worked.

Seriously, that would be perfect. It looks like it belongs more on a CotS character than an adult PC. Good suggestion.

Still not working for me. Kept trying regulary yesterday and tried a dozen of times prior to this, still does the same. ><

Sorry for double posting, kept trying all day, with various navigators, after cleaning memory and stuff, still won't access. If someone could either send me a copy of the file or reup, would be gratefull. :blush:
