umbratotalus Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Hello people. I did it, I fucking well finally did it. It took me all of about 4 hours to do it, and I think I accidentally glitched the stormcloak armor (unsleeved), but I got the meshes from (insert name of that awesome author here, because I forgot his name, and his meshes are awesome, if the whole lot is incomplete) to work direct from a loot (which means that if you take hide armor off a bandit you get the mesh that whatshisname made rather than the ugly adult one with the huge gap). Unfortunately, I did have to alter Jitek's Ychildrenofthesky.esp and use whatshisname's meshes (advance apologies and whatever else, and here's hoping that they don't mind. Of course until I work out how to upload the esp that I made, I'm technically in the clear... I think). This is a proof of concept, because when I told jitek about this, they kept saying "I'm gonna have to script it up to work." Bullshit, I have it working, just no idea how to upload so that everyone can have glitched stormcloak armor and normal armors working with the right size (I may have fixed it, but when I say glitched, I mean ctd, and I think it's cause I accidentally forgot to make a new form or something, and altered shit and it screwed itself over).
Honesty Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Don't use xvision from bagzerk. Jiitek released a full pack that included a revision of bagzerk's xvision children mod. You can not use two .ESP's. You just use either the Hearthfires one present in Jiitek's pack, or the non-HF one. I believe the latest update that is on front page which came out in Feb includes the new xvision .ESP you must use - as well as a lot of other fixes. My Oriental and Xvision files are also slightly modified, and I am not using the latest "handfix" hotfix also. By modified I mean, my girls now have vampire teeth if a vampire, they no longer have "bronze/shiny" skin whilst standing in shadows (except the hands are still "bronze-y" when in shadows ... I suppose thats what the handfix fixed; but it doesn't bother me that much to replace the .ESP when i can just wear some gloves or just not stare at her hands whilst in the dark) -- it'll actually look like real life instead of .. bronze lol. Also modified so you can steal/kill/(get married to them if you have a child/follower/marriage .ESP installed.) I can attempt to update the meshes and textures folders only ... I have no idea where all the individual files are from though, unless I manually download it again myself and extract everything.. But I still don't see why you're having such a problem still .. usually when people had problems with this mod, it was fixed rather easily. Still, as I said, You can not mix/merge/ these files. Use only Jiitek's pack. Do not use bagzerk's xivison with this. Only use ONE .ESP. Make sure you have no other killable/lootable type of children mods installed. And make sure you're using the RaceCompatibility that came with this mod, and not any updated ones from nexxxus. I still can't help but to think, with allll those mods you have, something is interferring with CoTS. Why not just UN-CHECk EVERYTHING except essential mods? Leave all the Unofficial patches checked, leave SkyUI checked, Water.. etc ... and UN-CHECK everything else except xvision and CoTS

Not sure what you're trying to convey here... Whenever I wear any kind of un-touched vanilla armor, it always conforms to my size and looks absolutely fine. I have maybe 2~3 CBBE armors, but the rest are all UNP-X117able or UNP-Skinny mesh so it looks fantastic. I use a lot of Cabal's retex/re-meshes depdending - I'll usually ALWAYS use his textures, but I sometimes don't use his meshes if it's included. You should see my glass set - It looks AMAZING and transparent as fooooooooook : )
Vulon Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Haha, after all the trouble I've had with this mod, turns out it was PCEA all along. o.O I'm still running into some issues with some children added by other mods, but I'm guessing that since it was PCEA that was (somehow) causing the gray face, I can just resolve that in the CK. Thanks again for all your help, Honesty!
Buggy Posted July 10, 2013 Posted July 10, 2013 Is there any way to use Bagserk's xvision children head and face with the body of CotS?
Kaydence Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I got the dark face bug. I saw a "fix" for it mentioned somewhere, but am not sure how to do it. Can anyone tell me how to fix that bug, or link me to it if there's a good explanation elsewhere?
AwfulArchdemon Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I got the dark face bug. I saw a "fix" for it mentioned somewhere, but am not sure how to do it. Can anyone tell me how to fix that bug, or link me to it if there's a good explanation elsewhere? I got that bug too. It's not from this mod though. I only have a few mods installed (reinstalled Skyrim from scratch), so I'm really confused about it. I'm using a different skeleton now too, so it's not that. No idea what causes this. I started a thread asking about it, but got no solution. If there is a solution, I'd sure love to know what it is.
AwfulArchdemon Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Warning! I downloaded CotS yesterday. It was an installer.exe, that was supposed to dl CotS. That .exe contained nothing but a virus! It couldn't get through my Internet Security, but it kept trying and trying, and I couldn't shut it off. When I moved the .exe into my Recycle Bin, boom! Virus after virus. I crushed them all, but so you know, don't dl the installer! If you get that one by accident, throw it away before you extract it! Don't use the 1st mirror (uploading.com). Haven't tried the other mirrors, and I don't intend to.
Vulon Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 In regards to the dark face bug - are either of you using PCEA? I was, and deactivating it fixed the dark face bug. For children, at least. On the other hand, a bunch of NPCs added by other mods have the dark face bug now. I think it's because of CoTs / xvision forcing apachii hair onto different characters here and there. Most of the dark-faced NPCs I've encountered have also had apachii hair. It's aggravating. Also, kids added by other mods look weird. Sometimes they have the dark face, other times they're just really weird looking, and here and there I've run into horrifying abominations that have the original child face texture but everything else is from xvision children. It's super creepy when they talk because it looks almost as if they're wearing the head of a child they killed or something. The lips on the original child texture face don't move, but there's this weird, blurred movement around the mouth, as if there's another head underneath that's speaking and you're looking at the movement underneath the skin. It's reaaaally weird. Haha, I'm not sure if I did a good job explaining it. If you have the Inconsequential NPCs mod active, you'll probably encounter this bug with the male urchins (children who pickpocket). I've been able to fix this by going into the Creation Kit and doing the CTRL+F4 thing, but even when I change their hair it reverts back to the default child hair, which is too big for the xvision children head size, so it's like there's just a floating hair piece hovering around the kid's head. Honestly, this mod has a load of conflicts and annoying issues, haha. But now that I've gotten used to the xvision children, I really don't want to go back to the original kids...>.<

spexwood Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 DARK FACE BUG FRIENDLY REMINDER: I saw some more people reporting the "Dark Face" bug a few pages back. I think their problems were answered, but I just want to remind everyone that if you get this bug, then it is most likely some other mod causing it. Most of the time, it is something that affects children, but it can also be anything that affects NPC/Player animations too. MODS I KNOW THAT CAUSE THIS BUG: 1) PC Exclusive Animation Path 2) Make any child your follower Be careful with any mods that affect children in any way or NPC/Player animations. When installing one of these types of mods, get into the habit of installing them and immediately checking children in-game to make sure the bug hasn't occurred. Trust me, this will save you lots of time and headaches!!!!!! If anyone else runs into any problem mods, I would be more than happy to add them to this list! Just let me know what the mod is (exact name). Be absolutely certain that it causes the bug though! DEBUGGING THE PROBLEM: If you just installed CotS and have the bug, then do this: 1) First disable any mods known to cause this bug (see the list above). 2) Try the game. If the bug disappears, then uninstall those mods, leave them disabled, or uninstall CotS. 3) If disabling the known bug causing mods does not solve the problem, or you do not have any of those mods installed, then try disabling any mods related to children and player/NPC animations. 4) Try the game. 5A) If the bug disappears, then one of the mods you just disabled is causing the bug. Reenable one of those mods and try the game again. Repeat this "enable and try" process until the bug appears again. As soon as it does, then the most recent mod that you activated is interfering with CotS. You now have 3 choices: either leave that mod disabled, uninstall it completely, or if you can't live without that mod, then uninstall CotS. 5B) If the bug does NOT disappear, then some other mod is conflicting with CotS. You must now disable other mods one-by-one until the bug disappears. As soon as it does, then the mod you just disabled is the culprit. You now have 3 choices: either leave that mod disabled, uninstall it completely, or if you can't live without that mod, then uninstall CotS. If you have had CotS installed and working without issues and the bug suddenly appeared: Most likely you did something to the game that caused the bug. If you installed any new mods, disable them one-by-one and try the game after disabling each one. Once the bug disappears, then the mod you just disabled is interfering with CotS. If the bug doesnt disappear, then undo any other changes you've done (retextures, file deletions, whatever). If that still doesn't work, then then try reinstalling CotS. If THAT doesnt work, then I don't know what else to tell you.

Vulon Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 XVC and AH just stand for Xvision children and Apachii hair. From what I've experienced so far, just about any mod that adds new NPCs or edits existing NPCs conflicts with this. I've been messing around with the CK on and off for the last few days trying to fix every NPC that's been afflicted. Two mods that I wouldn't consider removing, Interesting NPCs and Inconsequential NPCs, will have some issues with this mod. For adult NPCs, this is likely because the mod changes a lot of default hair to Apachii Hair, which messes stuff up. A bald NPC added by a mod I just downloaded yesterday, for example, ended up with a horribly mismatched set of shiny Apachii hair. For children NPCs, vanilla children are all fine, but children added by other mods will require fixing in the Creation Kit, and even then there's likely gonna be some weird issues here and there. And for male children added by mods, you're limited to only the vanilla hair selection for children, and only the redguard child hair will fit the xvision children head size. The other hair options will have the hair floating at the sides of the kid's head. I guess I just don't understand why presets for other races had to be edited for CoTs / xvision. They're a standalone race, so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. It just leads to more conflicts.

Yeah, many mods that target NPC's, especially children, may not work correctly with CotS. I don't use any mods that change NPCs as dramatically as those two mods you mentioned, but with the hair changing and everything, I can only imagine the mess they caused when combined with CotS. I hope you get things working with those mods. I guess all I can do is wish you good luck. Maybe R3 of CotS will be more "Other Mod Friendly"?
getmilkyone Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Unfortunately, the problem has resurfaced for me again and the F4 trick in CK isn't working. Will try some suggestions above. I do have PCEA and had it working fine with that mod previously after the F4 trick. I loaded some other mods that messed with my character's eyes, and fixed it. That's when the problem came back.
AwfulArchdemon Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Crap! Does anyone know why my face is all scrunched up in my regular game? I tried my best to get this thing to activate through Mod Organizer, and failed. Then I tried manual installation of CotS and CTD'd when I switched race to Sky Kids (even after switching to female before choosing the race). Thought I got all the files out of there, but my Imperials face is all scrunched up. I can't figure out what to do. I tried doing things like installing Pretty Face by tktk, and got rid of my Facegeom folder, and imported facegen stuff from my old steamapps folder, but my face still sucks . Wtf?
daliko Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Can anyone tell me what children of the sky really is? Looking at the author post all images are outdated by photobucked. What does this mod do? Fix all the kids in the game or is it a new race?
Vulon Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Can anyone tell me what children of the sky really is? Looking at the author post all images are outdated by photobucked. What does this mod do? Fix all the kids in the game or is it a new race? CoTs adds a new race to the game called 'Sky Children', which are essentially revamped children. Xvision children, used in conjunction with CoTs, will revamp all existing children, adding more variety, better looking kids, new clothes, etc. As you can see from all the recent posts, there are certainly some issues to be mindful of. It can be tricky to get working right off the bat, especially if you have a lot of other mods.
Guest carywinton Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 Children of the Sky - Gear all files unpack fine except for Ravenous Elegance [Deadly Little Vamp Edition] [uNP], this file shows corruption errors when unpacking. I tried several of the links listed with the same results. Fortunately for me I have another set from a while back, just thought I would let you know. Every other aspect of this mod works flawlessly, excellent job. Super Kudos~
AwfulArchdemon Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 When I used this before, I used NMM to install. Worked just fine. What's more, it seemed to run an installer where you toggle all of your options. I've seen no such thing installing manually, or with Mod Organizer. I suppose I'm only supposed to put the options I want in my skyrim folder? Am I supposed to add data I want to the "Main" folder and overwrite? I can't get it to work on anything but NMM, and I only use MO. I'm done with NMM, so can anyone tell me how to get this damn mod to work again? It won't even work manually! I've arranged the files in a way that MO HAS to be able to understand, but I always CTD when I choose the Sky Kids race. I still really need to get rid of this highly annoying, ugly-ass scrunchy face of mine when I use grown-ups, too. I have no clue what the hell could be causing it. Loaded older saves, and the scrunched up has now been added to those ones to. I absolutely refuse to reinstall Skyrim and start over (again). I just did that when I said to hell with NMM and started using MO (which is totally awesome)! Also, showracemenu became CTD central. It works sometimes, but not often, and even there, every face is scrunched and fugly. Drivin' me crazy. Everyone else looks fine. Only my PC is deformed and hideous. It's too distracting to play Skyrim with this ugly-as-fuck PC, and I have testing to do, so help would be super appreciated.
Guest 000 Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 @AwfulArchdemon if you are having showracemenu ctd's just install "ShowRaceMenu Precache Killer" http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/33526/? And if you are manually installing, first completely remove it in NMM, then copy all files from CoTS MAIN archive folder to DATA folder (c:/program files/bethesda/skyrim/data , for steam version: steam/steamapp/commen/Skyrim/data) and overwrite it! The same goes for "OPTION" folders and dont forget to install Children of the Sky -R2 -Fix.

I've read all about the pre-cache killer, but I didn't need it when used CotS before, so I wanted to solve the problem without it. I have done this. I'm installing this thing anyway though, because I just know my game's gonna wanna crash sometime in racemenu. Also, confirmed that Racemenu mod from Nexus is super highly incompatible with CotS. I've packaged CotS in a way that Mod Organizer can read it now. Pain in the ass. (Hmm...maybe I should upload MO version?)
AwfulArchdemon Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 You have incompatibility problems with ShowRaceMenu Precache Killer? ,I never had any problems with it... I always install mods manually and then correct/optimise the load order with Wrye Bash and BOSS. No, not the precache killer, the actual Racemenu mod.

Can you explain the F4 trick so I can maybe get them working together?
Joespud Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 Is there a way to give the character panties. All the armors with skirts for children of sky don't have anything under it and it breaks the immersion of combat for me.
