Vulon Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Okay, so I updated NMM and the installer version of the mod showed up all of a sudden, so I gave it another shot and it seems to be working, aside from a few issues. The most annoying issue is all of the female children have the gray face bug. My PC doesn't have it, and neither do the male children. I don't understand why. I don't have any other mods that effect children, as far as I know. Other issues seem to include random CTDs from entering the race menu while playing as a child of the sky (works just fine for other races), and I'm not sure if it's this mod specifically that's causing it, but I now have two Nord races listed in my race menu for some reason. No differences between the two. Annnd another issue. A few NPCs here and there have mismatched body and face textures. I've noticed it only seems to be with NPCs that seem to have been affected by this mod seemingly forcing apachii hair on random characters. Why does it do that? It happened when I tried manually installing, too. I don't like it. Anyway, here's my load order, sorted by BOSS. Terolok Posted July 6, 2013 Posted July 6, 2013 Edit: Never mind... Problem gone. :/ Don't ask me how.. ---------------- Hello, My CotS character auto-heals, even in combat, very fast without the use of anything in-game that could cause it... Is this normal? This basically makes my character immoral, which I don't want. So if this is normal: Is there a way to turn it off? If this is not normal: What could be the cause? Any suggestions on disabling it?
getmilkyone Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Has anyone seen issue where the head color doesn't match rest of body? I have brown skin faces that don't match body. I had this working perfectly and I must have done something, but I'm not sure what . Trying to backtrack but any points in the right direction would be helpful. Tried reinstalling the mod and didn't work.

Tried reinstalling the mod and didn't work. You have to do CTRL-F4 while you have the actor open in the CK to create a file which has the correct colors etc for the head. Why they didn't make that an automatic action or why they decided all that needed it's own separate file instead of being in the actor record where it belongs is anyone's guess. Just another thing you have to know and remember when using the CK.
getmilkyone Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 I don't have too much experience with CK, is it just a matter of: 1. making the xvisionc esp the active file, (do any of the other files need to be selected?) 2. Selecting the actor and hit CTRL-F4? I'm getting many errors in CK when I try to do this such as: Quests: Could not find previus info (01003ED1) for TopicInfo (01003DeD2) in Topic "RelationshipAdoption_SharedInfos" (01003d00) And similar errors for "RelationshipAdoption_JustAdpotedBranchTopic" and "RelationshipAdoption_FGPet Topic" and "BYHHousePalePurchase Topic" Other errors I'm getting: MASTERFIle: Armor used invalid Biped Object slot 52 for race 'DefaultRace'.....MASTERFILE" Errors were encountered during InitItem ... Pleasae do not use empty TRI file errors....

When you select xvisionc as the active file any master files it uses will get selected automatically so no, you can just select that one file. Double-click on the actor's line in the Object window to open the actor record before you do the CTRL-F4, just as if you were going to modify the record. Ignore the errors, the CK likes to complain.
getmilkyone Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Thanks WaxenFigure! I was able to resolve it through this means.

Look for any mod you have loaded that may also alter that character, the last mod loaded that changes a character "wins" and that will be the mod you have to use this trick with if you have the grey face.
Vulon Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Yeah, I checked for that, too. Load order wasn't changing anything. I had the esp for xvision near the very end of the load order, right above PCEA, because that's supposed to be at the very bottom. I decided to go ahead and uninstall children of the sky and xvision for the time being. Too many issues for my liking as it stands. I also didn't like how it forced apachii hair on adult characters, too. That also resulted in some face / skin texture mismatches.
SkyrimUser479 Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 skyrim crashes as soon as i reach the main menu?
Vulon Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 skyrim crashes as soon as i reach the main menu? You're probably missing (or simply haven't ticked on) a required .esm. That's usually what causes such a crash. Anyway, I've decided to take another shot at fixing these faces with the CK...only because, for whatever reason, deactivating children of the sky and xvision made it so I couldn't play Skyrim. It would crash immediately. Reactivating children of the sky fixed it...so I guess I'm stuck with it. o.O Here's the steps I've been taking in the CK to no avail... 1. Set xvisionchildren.esp as the active file. 2. Wait for it to load. 3. Select all child actors and hit ctrl-f4 to export facegen data. 4. As far as I know, that's all you need to do, right? At this point, I click the 'save' button in the CK, just to make sure. 5. Load up Skyrim. 6. Cry pitifully upon realizing that all female children in the game (as well as various female NPCs that this mod forces apachii hair onto) still have the dark face texture. Is there something I'm missing? I have xvision and children of the sky as close to the bottom of my load order as possible, just above PCEA.

I know you probably hate hearing this ... but did you try on a brand new game? Move all of your save files to another folder, so it's completely emtpy (that way you don't start brand new characters on save number 500 for example -- it'll be Save #1) -- and start a new game. The only thing else I can imagine that would mess things up, is some of the killable children mods on the nexus. I don't use those anymore, since it was easy as hell just to un-tick "is a child" or something within the CK for all the kid races .. Now I can kill/steal/..whatever else to them :3 I have about 700 or so hours logged in Skyrim. I have made countless brand new games, installs, and everything you can think of. To lose a 150 hour save means nothing to me anymore, as I have come to expect many many bugs and glitches from bethsoft. After many uninstalls, .ini edits, tweaks and many mods later .. I have a super-super clean and almost flawless running Skyrim game (and my Papyrus log is to DIE for -- so clean!I have about 150 mods and toooooooooooons of retextures and everything else under the sun. Many mods will log "harmless" errors in papyrus logging - I am anal as hell and almost always check it after installing new mods and making sure everything is running smoothly. If I did not run any mods that logged even harmless errors/checks, my log would be about 3KB after a 4 hour session of playing. whhew... sorry for all that text. Just letting you know - although you probably already know how it is, with these types of games from beth : ) EDIT: I just looked over your load order from a page back and .. I don't like it very much. I'm suprised BOSS sorted everything like that. Are any of your mods "touched' with TESVSnip or whatever? Before the CK came out, some modders used a "harmful" version of TES-something-or-another (NOT TES5edit - that program is GODLY) First of all, your WATER and WATER-DB.esp's should be all the way on the bottom. Move RaceCompatibility.esm to the bottom of the .esm list also... and you're using the version that came with latest CoTS and hotfix updates right? Do not use the PlayerVampireQuestScript.pex, PlayerWerewolfChangeScript.pex or the same versions in the source folder either .. Jiitek has mentioned that running the mod on saved games that aren't brand new, may cause visual glitches. Before I had latest hotfix updates (that fixed many NPC's faces - especially the redguards) and brand new game, I also incountered many messed-up faces. the grey face bug is not really a bug, I used to have tis problem also .. what it is, is ... it is searching for a file in a location that doesn't exist .. you need to create it .. and just noticed you replied and mentioned you fixed it yourself .. nice! xD
Vulon Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Haha, I just recently reinstalled Skyrim, actually, so I have no problem just starting up a new game. Only have a few saves at the moment anyway. Not sure why I haven't bothered to do so yet, as that normally occurs to me. I guess every other time I've run into the gray face bug, I've been able to fix it pretty easily, so it didn't really pop into mind to start a new game. I'll give it a shot.

Let us know how it goes : ) And don't use those files I mentioned in my edited post two above this one ... They will cause problems and do not log any errors if you're missing them. i also recommened, just in case, to do all the main/important story missions before accecpting to become a vampire or werewolf (Dawnguard and Companions storyline). The only scripts I use from Jiitek is: companionshousekeepingscript.pex, GenericRaceController.pex, OrientalRaceController.pex and RaceDispatcherScript.pex (and their source equivalent of course) And in case no one knows .. EVERYONE should be using the fixed fxDustDropRandomSCRIPT.pex as well (Not the source-only one bethsoft "provides")... You can just google to find it easily.
Vulon Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Just tried a new game. As far as which version of those scripts I'm using, I'm using the ones that came with the NMM installer version of children of the sky, so, uh, I think they're the right ones. xD
Honesty Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I just noticed you have two xvisionchildren.esp's loaded. You can not do this. You must either use the hearthfires one, or if you dont have hearthfires, use the non-HF one. The NMM installer will automatically install those problem scripts - if it asks you to overwrite the problem files I mentioned, you should select "No." If you like, I can attach the correct and updated scripts you should be using. Water should be at the very very bottom, and Water-DB under that. And I have no idea what PCEA is .. PlayerCharacter---? Is that the mod that makes it so only YOU have certain idles and movements? I thought I had read it may cause certain "problems" .. I never used it. I really don't mind if all the old ladies have a "sexy catwalk" .. I would just rather not have yet-another-mod that really does nothing other than not make those oldies sway those hips : ) The grey face "bug" is not a bug - you're just missing some files .. you have to move/copy them from on place, into your folder that it is searching for. And whilst all people's mods they have added are of personal taste, i would really cut down on some really not needed mods you may have ... Don't get me wrong, I have TON'S of mods.. but I do not have any that change the landscape/add place places and etc that you have ... you have many many from the looks of it. For example, are these mods super necessary? "FZGuildOutpostsDLC02.esp FZGuildOutpost_DLC01.esp FZDBFalkreathResurrect.esp FZGuildOutposts.esp" Things like that. But speaking of that... that load order doesn't seem correct - or is that how the author said to load the files? I would assume it SHOULD look like this: "FZGuildOutposts.espFZGuildOutpost_DLC01.esp FZGuildOutpostsDLC02.esp FZDBFalkreathResurrect.esp" Boss is not 100% .. make sure you manually move some files around yourself, and ALSO load them how the author said how to load them (if they mention it at all). Let me give you an example of my load order...
Vulon Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Really? The HF version I have lists xvisionchildren.esp as a master... o.O Okay, I gotcha. Yeah, with my recent reinstallation, I didn't have to overwrite anything when I installed children of the sky. I later installed the witch elf custom race and was asked to overwrite the scripts installed by CoTs and declined. So I think I have the correct scripts, but I'd be appreciative nonetheless if you could attach 'em just so I can make sure. Yes, PCEA is the player character exclusive animation path mod. The only time I ever ran into a problem with it is when I was using Sexis, which I quickly learned wasn't compatible with PCEA. I have a feeling that some Sexlab mods might run into some issues with PCEA, depending on what the mod in question did, but so far, no problems. I don't really have many mods that specifically alter the landscape, actually. At least, I don't think so. You could be right. I don't know what's considered the 'usual' amount, so... xD Game runs just fine so far, though. I use SMCO to reduce texture size and that really helps it run smoothly. Also, I managed to partially fix the grayface issue -- adults no longer suffer from it. So now I just have to work on these damn kids...I've tried everything I can think of, haha. Tried setweightnpc to see if that would change their face (which has worked in the past for me), and it just made their faces darker. Tried the 'resurrect' console command, did nothing. I'll keep at it, though, and I really do appreciate all your help!
Honesty Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 This is what you need in your textures folder for oriental/x117: Eyes female femalebrows male malebrows tintmasks ---- This should be in your xvisionc folder: bretonfemale Character Assets darkelffemale eyes female femalebrows highelffemale imperialfemale redguardfemale ----- You may be missing one folder that it is attempting to search for. i had this problem also, until I moved (forget which, but I'm sure you'll let me know which one you're missing) a folder into x117 and the purple/grey face went away. As for the scripts, you should not have ANY Playervampire or playerwerewolf scripts at all in the scripts folder. You should ONLY have these CoTS scripts in the main folder: companionshousekeepingscript.pex GenericRaceController.pex OrientalRaceController.pex RaceDispatcherScript.pex Remove the vampire and werewolf scripts. Replace everything with what i am attaching, and make a backup folder just in case. You should also run papyrus logging AFTER you select your character (Sky Child) in the beginning and after you have your binds cut; to check for any kind of crazy errors of spam in your log. Although you may see tons of spam from other mods you have added... I am also including that dustdrop script file. i would also go into STEAM and select "Do not automatically update this game/tool" for Skyrim and the CK... because everytime the CK updates, it updates/replaces your SOURCE files. So you need to re-add certain ones MANUALLY every time. EDIT: I also added the VANILLA CK untouched SOURCE script files for the werewolf and vampire. ALSO use these files (replace them more like -- it'll replace the ones that were installed during CoTS .. you need these as well) CoTS Scripts.rar Default CK VampireWerewolf Source.rar
Vulon Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Thanks for the scripts, and I'll make sure not to allow Steam to automatically update from now. And I have all those folders exactly where they're supposed to be. Checked inside the folders -- all the textures seem to be in place, from what I can tell. Ugh, this is maddening...xD Before I reinstalled Skyrim, I briefly toyed around with xvision by itself without CoTs. I didn't run into the gray face, but none of the female children moved their mouth when speaking. So I know at one point, I at LEAST had the proper textures in place, though I had another issue altogether...hmmm... I swapped the facegeom data from my current folder with the ones included in the R2 fix folder, just because I had no idea what else to do, but it changed nothing for the females and now the boys have the gray face, too. -_____- I really just have no clue whatsoever what I'm doing wrong. I'm gonna take a break, go have lunch, and try again later. Again, I appreciate all your help.
Honesty Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 Could you try the following? Uninstall CoTS completely. Open up the NMM version and extract everything. Make sure EVERYTHING CoTS related is GONE (You can compare and see whats left over if you also have another window open showing which files installed during the CoTS process). Un-tick the skyrim and CK "Do not automatically update this game/tool" so it can update again -- proceed to chose "Verify File Integrity" and let it update. After that's finished, do not automatically update again. Download the MANUAL CoTS and update files. Do not install with NMM (make your own .OMOD/.rar style file if you like yourself if you're worried about removing every single file manually, and install that way if you don't want to risk manual). Manually drag the files to your skyrim folder(s). Only use one xvision file, not two. Use the updated CoTS files and .esp also ... Remember not to use most of the scripts. The only ones you want are the ones I included above. I believe jiitek had folders like "If you have dawnguard .. use this! If you have USKP use this! .. if you have USKP and UFO ... use this! etc .." ignore them except the USKP/UFO ones if you have either/both.
Vulon Posted July 8, 2013 Posted July 8, 2013 I've tried downloading the manual versions before. It didn't work out. That's why I ended up going with the NMM version. First few times I tried downloading, the passwords didn't work. I tried multiple links, too. I tried again the next day; passwords worked this time, but when I extracted the files, I got an 'unknown method' error, so that failed, too. I've tried redownloading them a couple times since. I run into the same issues with the links for the CoTs followers and gear. I guess I could maybe try uninstalling it in NMM and extract the stuff from the mod's archive, but I don't think that'd make much of a difference, really... So...I don't know what it is about this mod, but it absolutely hates me. xD I have a bit of an unorthodox idea. If it's not too much trouble, could you upload the meshes and textures folders you have for CoTs, as well as the .esp you use? I'd like to try injecting them into my data folder to see if that makes a difference. I mean, you don't have to, it's cool. I know it's a bit much to ask, but at this point I'm contemplating just uninstalling and reinstalling Skyrim for the second time in a week, which is a pain. @_@ EDIT - Just to clarify, I do have the manual files for xvision downloaded off of that bagserk site or whatever. Those are the current xvision esps I'm using. I just don't have the manual version of CoTs. In the instructions, this is what it says for the hearthfire esp -- "You need xvision children for this to work, and you'll need it if you have xvision children and hearthfire, or you'll get default faced childrens for the new ones added by the DLC. ONLY USE THIS IF YOU HAVE HEARTHFIRE. Install ======= 1. Extract the Data folder in the .7z to your Skyrim install directory. 2. Start any launcher which lets you adjust the load order. 3. Put "xvisionchildren - hearthfire.esp" after "xvisionchildren.esp". 4. Activate "xvisionchildren - hearthfire.esp". 5. Play." That's why I have two xvision esps. I'll try playing with the first xvision unticked just to see what happens, but I'm pretty sure I'll crash when I reach the menu screen. I'll cross my fingers, though. And yeah, just tried extracting one of the manual downloads of CoTs yet again. I included a screenshot. You can tell by the (2) that this is my third attempt downloading the same file, haha. Same 'unknown method' error as before. And I get the same message for the other thing I manually downloaded. So that's not an option. >.< As I said above, I can deactive the mod in NMM and extract the necessary files from the NMM archive to my data folder, but I highly doubt that'll fix my gray face issue. When installing with NMM, I did choose the dawnguard and hearthfire compatibility options you advised against choosing, but that wouldn't cause the gray faces, would it?
Vulon Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Pffft, I didn't even think to use 7-Zip. I'm way too used to just using Winrar all the time. Thanks! That successfully extracted it. Hopefully it'll work this time. I'll post back later.
Awsonaut Posted July 9, 2013 Posted July 9, 2013 Ok, so the kids have the proper coloured bodies, but the heads are wrong colours like Nord might have the darker skin of redguards for their head. What gives?
