I know you like cleaning things, even the things that you aren't supposed to clean. I hope you haven't "cleaned" anything important recently! Either from your installed mods using TES5Edit etc. or from your saves using Save Cleaner etc. Have you?

This is a bit off-topic but may I recommend a few mods for filthy little thieves of LL who also like a bit of recycling? I can't recall which one of the following mods adds recycling but I can recycle a lot of clutter at the smelter using these which gives you a good reason to steal all sorts of junk. From my load order (these are close to the top):

 

Lost Art of the Blacksmith.esp

Smithing Perks Overhaul - Balanced.esp

Weapons and Armor Fixes.esp

Weapons and Armor Fixes - Hacks.esp

Complete Crafting Overhaul.esp

ValsCraftingMeltdownAlpha.esp

 

I haven't checked recently so there may be better/newer mods like these at Nexus but these work with Skyrim 1.9 without any serious issue.

 

How to use these mods?

 

Well, freshly out of Helgen, go to Whiterun, punch the guard who doesn't allow you to enter Whiterun and surrender, let him put in prison. When they let you out, go and collect (aka. steal) lanterns, flagons, wooden plates, kettles, goblets, plates, animal hides, pelts, tusks, skulls etc. from every house and shop in Whiterun (be careful, don't get caught!). Melt them down into raw materials such as ingots, firewood, leather etc. Doing this will also guarantee that someone in Whiterun will send thugs after you!

o well i guess ill just start over. >.< always happens when i get my char just the way i want it. i hope the new game my saves dont increase like this last one.  thanks for the help though

 

Are your file sizes creeping up? I had a level 40+ character starting to lag and crash. Turns out that my saves were snowballing up to 120MB. Nothing I could do but archive the save and hope for a save cleaner.

 

If you are not updating, you can reset SD by going through the uninstall process and leaving SD intact for a few game hours. When you are ready to start SD again, use the following command in console.

 

startquest _SD_mcm_001

 

You will have to go through the setup process again because all SD quests are stopped, SD items removed, SD effects dispelled, factions you joined are removed from the player and config & status globals are reset to their defaults.

 

If you happen to see the version number go up restarting SD, you were running a mix of different versions.

i dont clean anything.  and i guess i cant use this. started a new game and i cant event leave the cave to escape helgen i CTD every time i try.

yea on my last 3 chars my save games were slowly creeping up by .1 increments each time i saved. my saves on my last char were 10.3 i think at lvl 43 i believe. the one char i was playing as when dragonborn was first released the saves jumped to 40mb and my papyrus log was 1.63gb  all because of the EDialog mod.

EDialog may have damaged the save :( Left script artifacts. Have you tried the following?

 

SKSE, go to skyrim>data>SKSE and create "SKSE.ini" and add:

 

[General]

ClearInvalidRegistrations=1

I don't trust mod managers one bit. I check my load order with TES5Edit and that's enough for me. I prefer having a modest amount of mods and also would like to know what's going on behind the scenes, so I can find problems easily should they ever occur. I also "clean" certain types of the mods from the garbage that comes with them. Such as unnecessary quests, containers, NPCs, factions, AI packages etc in let's say "armor" mods.

You don't need Visual C++ unless you want to program. I'm on Windows 7 and Save Cleaner runs without requiring anything additional.

 

Edit: Apparently I already have Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package and Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile installed.

So you can't see extensions? Then go to Organize -> Folder and Search Options -> View -> Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". Should be similar on XP/Vista/8.

 

Be careful though, file type has to be "INI File", not "Text Document"!

You can but you have to add yourself as a user with permissions to do so or your account has to be System Administrator.

 

Right click on the Skyrim folder

 

Properties -> Security Tab -> Advanced Button -> Change Permissions Button -> Add Button

 

Then type in your login name and hit the "Check Names" button. It should update to look something like this:

 

COMPUTER-NAME\User

 

Where "COMPUTER-NAME" will be the same as the default value in the "From this location:" box.

 

Then hit the "Okay" button.

 

Then select the user you just added to the directory and click the "Edit" button. You'll get a permission list. Give yourself Full Control.

PC Exclusive Animation Path is listed as a conflicting mod.

 

Have you tried Sexis and gotten the same results? ( BTW, did you load in the SexiS Data Core? )

You can but you have to add yourself as a user with permissions to do so or your account has to be System Administrator.

 

Right click on the Skyrim folder

 

Properties -> Security Tab -> Advanced Button -> Change Permissions Button -> Add Button

 

Then type in your login name and hit the "Check Names" button. It should update to look something like this:

 

COMPUTER-NAME\User

 

Where "COMPUTER-NAME" will be the same as the default value in the "From this location:" box.

 

Then hit the "Okay" button.

 

Then select the user you just added to the directory and click the "Edit" button. You'll get a permission list. Give yourself Full Control.

BTW, while you're here, will you have a look at the problem with thugs anytime soon? Or at least could you give me some clue about what to look for? I've already compared several recent versions of SD to see the difference between them and the latest and couldn't find anything important, tried changing a few things but nothing worked so far. I have a save and can provide some input if you need any.

Oh yes, I forgot that, Windows 7 doesn't allow you to create anything except a folder inside Program Files folders, so you don't get the option to create a text file when you right click. You have to create it in somewhere else and then move it into Data\SKSE\.

thing is im using this on a new save now and im getting CTDs >.< i really wanna use this but it looks like i wont be able to. 

 

 

PC Exclusive Animation Path is listed as a conflicting mod.

 

Have you tried Sexis and gotten the same results? ( BTW, did you load in the SexiS Data Core? )

 

 

yes i saw but i didnt think it would cause CTD before i even got SD activated.  yes i downloaded and installed SexiS data core. no i havent tried using SexiS.  i dont use sex mods often i just figured this would make things more interesting.

I was thinking more along the lines of a FNIS litmus test. If you uninstall SD and install SexiS and still get CTD, then we can assume it's a FNIS issue. If not, then I know it's a SD issue and I can start looking for a fix.

2013.04.02 Maintenance Update: 2013040201

  • Unable to fix unvoiced text issue. Sanguine should immediatly dismiss the player from his realm.
  • Spriggan slave quest book should advance the quest normally now.
  • Blindfolds should work now.
  • "Hardcore" mode "finished". With this enabled, slave items will not auto unequip unless the player gets the master's key, or they get help from another NPC.
  • Reworked the thug quest AI. The thugs will take the player to jail if the original item is part of a crime faction. Less cross country trips across Skyrim. Works well with xaz Prison Overhaul.
  • Moved the resetting of player essential later into the enslavement startup. Should help reduce the number of player deaths after enslavement starts. This WILL NOT prevent deaths from kill moves. *
  • All scripts recompiled under SKSE 1.6.13
* A note about why SD does not set the player essential: The very first release did it and it's boring as hell. Skyrim gets dull pretty quick when nothing can kill you.
