Pandaman Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 I went from hate to apathy a long time ago with EA. Bioware's acquisition was such a disappointing moment for me because I knew it was going to wind up exactly like Origin Systems, Bullfrog, Maxis, and Westwood Studios, but I gave them the benefit of a doubt because the founders lied about how they would retain creative control. Pfah. Anyway, it's probably better to use this energy to try and convince your favorite indie developer not to sell out to companies like EA and Ubisoft. Get them before the sell their soul, because it'll be too late after.
Koko.Hekmatyar Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 After ME3 and their decision to make an ME4 I'm pretty much apathetic towards anything that bears the EA Logo and I'm long past giving them the benefit of the doubt.
...0... Posted November 6, 2013 Posted November 6, 2013 How many of you buying games on GOG.COM dont lie Or other indie games? Wel...? Thats what i thought majority don't they prolly all go buy cod g and then start whining game is almost same as last one it sucks in fps but next year they buy cod 10 or 11 whatever episode it is these days lol. But goahead, ill buy The Witcher 3(PC version DRM FREE) next year while you play EA/Ubisoft games or some other crap prolly also on console
Captain Cobra Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 How many of you buying games on GOG.COM dont lie Gog is bretty gud, buy things from them on occasion. Or other indie games? Not every indie game is worth money. Or praise. Thats what i thought majority don't they prolly all go buy cod g and then start whining game is almost same as last one it sucks in fps but next year they buy cod 10 or 11 whatever episode it is these days lol. Where are you getting this from?

Perhaps you should rephrase... whatever it was you're trying to say.
BlueSkyMine Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Oh I love these kind of threads! With that out of the way, I always find petitions to be hilarious, more often than not they never work. For every person signing a petition and thinking they're going to make some huge industrial change, there's hundreds upon thousands of others still buying Call of Duty, still buying some sports game EA published, still buying Mass Effect or Dragon Age. These little piddly complaints don't even register on the corporate scale compared to what they're still rolling in. Yes, EA does some shady business, everyone knows, even they know it, but the second they put out Generic First Person Shooter they're raking in money again and no one gives two flying ducks. I personally don't mind EA, I understand that, in the end, they are a business and businesses are out to make money, anyone saying otherwise is a dirty liar. Twisting what Lodakai said, time and energy would be better wasted on something else as opposed to throwing two cents against the tide of dollars. Also, for those complaining about EA and ME3, guess what was the most played part of the game and who wanted it to be included?
dje34 Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 The biggest problem with online games in that they are ONLINE games, and what I don't understand is why making an online game when the offline one can be better ? Human beings are far from mastering online techs but before thinking about how to improve the mastering they release games ! Stupid human beings. I miss my old games... when there were no lags and servers dependencies. -----> going offline to play Blood Dragon one more time ... Oh no! It needs Uplay connection ! Curse you human beings !!!! You know what ? I'm not happy ! Next game I buy, it won't need an Internet connection ! And when they will all need an internet connection I won't play games anymore, that's all folks !

...0... Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 The Witcher 3 will be 100% DRM free so guys buy this game when it launch hopefully this year, its solo RPG and prolly alot better then Skyrim(my gues).
idonotlikeusernames Posted March 7, 2014 Posted March 7, 2014 Consumers are protected from tying of physical merchandise by antitrust provisions when its considered to be uncompetative to other companies, so why not digital products? 1. Because most of the relatively decent legislators still think electric lightbulbs are a keen invention. 2. The legislators that actually care enough to know what "digital" means tend to be corrupt, greedy fuckwits. 3 And this ties in with 1, because most legislators still perceive video games to be kids stuff and kids stuff can never be be censored "protected" enough.
Spartan 363 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Another reason to hate EA is that they cancelled the release of Titanfall in South Africa and refunded all those that reserved it including PC gamers. But in a why, it's not their fault, it's because South Africa has shitty internet connections and EA wants only the best connection for truly competitive gaming...
ToxicKetchup Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 No need to convince me. I already hate EA well enough. Their horrible PR and customer support have been the tool slowly digging them a deeper grave. And after the trainwreck that was Simcity, I'm not convinced that they can recover. Unless they ditch their complacency and actually begin listening to their customers, I can't see them surviving for much longer. Many people are getting fed up with their nonsense.
quin666 Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 EA got most hated company award two times in row, you all late to hating bandwagon.
BruceWayne Posted March 9, 2014 Posted March 9, 2014 Considering what they did and are still doing since their last "worst company achievement" (Dungeon Keeper, canceled C&C, Battlefield 4, etc) they are probably aiming for the hattrick.
Guest Mogie56 Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 LOL a Hattrick is usually considered a positive in threes, except in baseball where it is considered a negative. so I guess a third moronic move (that actually gets published) for EA would be a hattrick. of course if they had all been published they'd be getting the award for a hattrick of hattricks etc. etc.
Advint Posted March 10, 2014 Posted March 10, 2014 I don't know if I hate EA so much as wish that their upper management would be drawn a quartered. Though to give them credit of all the bad things they do. they also publish some fun games along with it.
Gᴀʟᴠᴀɴɪᴢᴇ Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I think EA Sports is a perfect example at how money hungry EA really is, I mean, look at how half assed the Madden series is!? Its getting progressively WORSE as they try to make their development less expensive when this is the LAST thing they need to do. Its ridiculous, words can not describe my displeasure of EA, I cannot remember the last product I actually enjoyed by them, or atleast, the last project that they actually developed. For example, I am a huge fan of the Battlefield series, and it's a great game, but everything that EA has influenced on Battlefield is garbage, like the DLC layout and overall marketing, and in regards to EA sports, I would pick 2K anyday, 2K games are far superior which explains why NBA live did so bad this year. It feels like everygame from EA progressively gets worse, I remember their old Madden's and Tiger Wood's games as being so awesome, I remember the immense features the games had, and how fun it was to play, but now, they are just watered down pieces of garbage with nearly all the good features from both removed or poorly "revamped" and we haven't even begun talking about the FIFA series, which is even worse! But in the end, I still think that EA is better then Nexus Mods, haha.
finalx31 Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 still making money, your hate doesn't matter as sims 3 still sold tons. and look at titanfall right now. then again i do find it hard to get a boner for dragon age inquisition after the last dragon age, mass effect titles.
cougarshamn Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I haven't paid full price for an EA game since they screwed Spore up. I have only bought a few from Steam sales at 75% or more off, or from Humble Bundles. Seeing the EA logo on a trailer is a no sale for me, period.
Guest Grestorn Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 People have to start to understand that EVERY company's only goal is to make money, the more the better. There is NO exception. The only difference is how good they are with achieving this goal. So complaining against EA that they are money hungry is kinda... stupid. Sorry. Of course they are. They have to be. That doesn't excuse all of their decisions, but you should see them in a different light. EA is not out there to please us, the gamers. They are out there to earn money so their employees have something to eat and their stock holders get rich. The bigger projects get, the more people get their say on the product and the more detached decision makers get from the product they're responsible for, the less 'honest' it will become. That's the main reason that games made by small groups tend to be more 'personal' than big company games. But that's true for ALL gaming companies, not only EA.

Making money is different from ripping people off ! Free-to-play games may not be as good as AAA games but at least when servers are down you don't get the feeling of being robbed.
Coopervane Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 People have to start to understand that EVERY company's only goal is to make money, the more the better. There is NO exception. No, companies exist to EARN money, and that is a very important destinction.
Guest Grestorn Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Whether someone EARNS some money or just MAKES money is just a thing of ethic and morality. While I agree with the sentiment, I have to say that it is just naîve. Who is to say whether someone really EARNS the money he's making? You? Is there an objective ruler for that? I don't think so. If a company is really providing a bad service (i.e. is ripping of the customer), the customer has to vote with his wallet. That's the only way. Because, if a company makes LESS money because they provide a bad service, they have to change their service, to make MORE money again. Very simple. It's called capitalism. I'm not a big fan of it, but I don't know any other system working better than capitalism with fundamental social laws put on top (what we call "Soziale Marktwirtschaft" in Germany). Feelings like HATE are only appropriate for companies like Tepko (Japanese company behind Fukushima) or British Petrol because of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Certainly not because a game company doesn't live up to your expectations.
ratrace Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 If a company is really providing a bad service (i.e. is ripping of the customer), the customer has to vote with his wallet. So very true. Don't like product? Don't buy it. It's the only language companies the size of EA understand. If more people would not buy any crap that is just advertised regularly enough, nowadays TVs (just as an example) would not break after 5 years. My mother bought a TV when I was a kid, this TV broke 5 years ago. I'm 42 years old now. See the difference? It was of course not hi def and shit - TVs with stereo sound were new at that time - but it kept working more than three decades. Same with a washing machine, which has kicked the bucket just a few weeks ago. This whole planned obsolescence / consumerism thing is robbing us of our ressources and is producing huge piles of garbage - and frustration, because the products are getting worse and worse. Because you only can make people buy something when the product they bought not long ago gets broken quickly - or, as it is the case with smartphones and the like - is not en vogue anymore. The games that are being developed nowadays for PC mostly are unplayable crippleware with a lot of hype pushing the sales. After the xth patch they become playable - with a little luck, which still says nothing about the creative input that went into them, which mostly is next to zero. Companies want you to buy the stuff, not enjoy it. And sales increase with people being less critical on whether to buy a product or not. It sucks. What did George Wanker Bush say when he was in office: "Shop 'til you drop." The motto of the treadmill. Well, somebody has to pay for interest rates and keep up the productivity and dive headlong into debt.

Absolutely true. But the thing is we reached 7 billion people now, and going up ! What was made for lasting 30 years in the 80s can't be made today because nobody has found a way to feed 7 billion people (and more to come!) and making things lasting 30 years at the same time. But I do agree, big companies too often make things to get bought only, not to be useful or enjoyable.
