WCSC Posted July 25, 2020 Posted July 25, 2020 I'm using AIO Pussy 4.0 UUNP with Leyanda skin and I'd like to copy my textures like body freckles, shaved, muscle etc. Which files do I copy over to each followers textures so I don't cause any problems? Also, with the meshes, is it just the 6 files, the two files each of the body, hands, feet, or do I need the head too? Thank you !

Yes 1 hour ago, WCSC said: Which files do I copy over to each followers textures so I don't cause any problems? All body DDS , simply copy/drop into skyrim data folder textures/actors/character/name follower . If you have several followers and you want to diversify them, just repeat the process with other types of textures

I think these should cover it for a follower But I would say you could get away with just the diffuse (femalebody_1, femalehands_1 and femalehead) and normals (femalebody_1_msn, femalehands_1_msn and femalehead_msn) For changing the Meshes I would include the head as well as that normally has an xml attached to it.

Andy14 Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 Copy of textures? Loading the same textures from different folders is the best thing you can do to your VRAM. Oh man... I would edit the Esp of the followers with CK and set the TextureSets to standard in the Armor Addon (SkinBodyFemale or something like that). Or set in the TextureSets of the followers the textures on your textures. In CK or Tes5Edit...

Providing @WCSC is going to be using identical skins options that already exist somewhere in his game, duplicating textures is stupid. It didn't occur to me as I don't use many duplicate textures. Leyenda's AIO has so many options that my custom races (and, in some cases, followers) generally have a unique(ish) appearance. Even then I expect I am duplicating the Specular and Detail maps... Hmm, that's something I could change. Anyway, Andy14 is now going to post a brief tutorial of how to edit the Armor Addon or Texture Sets for you custom follower in TES5Edit. Because "or something like that" doesn't really help anyone.

SkinBodyFemale_1 is what you obviously weren't able to find out for yourself. This is the standard SkinTexture in the Armor Addon in the Skin Texture field of the Body-Nif (default is NakedTorso Armor Addon). For hands it's SkinHandFemale_1 in NakedHands Armor Addon. However, the follower will use their own Armor addons. Sort by Form ID in the Armor Addon window should return a result within a few seconds. The same applies to the TextureSets window. So either use the TextureSets mentioned above, or edit the proprietary TextureSet of the followers. Everything can also be found here. PS: This only works if the UV of the mesh of PC matches the UV of the mesh of the follower.

A re-thought out reply, after Andy's critique, which I hate to say I have no real arguement to. I'm going to assume you have Leyenda's AIO installed and so your Vanilla races (inc your the Player) are using Leyenda's textures. If this is the case you would be better to edit the Armor Addon in TES5Edit (it's better for editing than CK.. Hence the game, I guess) for the Follower, rather copying over a bunch, what could be 4k textures but at best are 2k that your game has to load seperately. If, like me, you want a different look to some characters (maybe more definition of muscles) then you can edit the Followers Texture Set files instead. Since I've done the latter and I was in xEdit I'll show you what I mean and if I have it wrong, well someone else should have answered Spoiler Open TES5Edit, find the Follower esp you want to edit and double click on it. This will open only that exp and any essential to it, namely Skyrim.esm. Open Find the Armor Addon's under your Follower.esp (images I'm showing uses a custom race instead but it will look the same) You'll have something like aaaNakedTorso or NAMENakedTorso etc. Edit the Female Skin Texture, Selecting the default one which is SkinBodyFemale_1 Then do the same for feet (uses the same texture set) and Hands which is SkinHandsFemale_1 Save this and it that follower should now use whatever skin textures that you have installed for the rest of the vanila races. If, like me you want to have some textures unique. In the images below I want to keep the Diffuse and Normals (basically the skin and the muscle texture) but the rest I will be the same as default since I use Leyenda skins on my vanila races. Also here things get a bit vague. I use NMM which means all my files are where I would expect them to be, the mod manager just overwrites what it needs to, backing up what was there before. I expect you use something a bit more sensible like Vortex or MO. These use "virtual" directories and point the game to use files in these rather than overwrite anything. I think this will still work but.. First you're going to want to see what files are used in the default Texture Set. Under Skyrim.esm, open the Texture Sets and find SkinBodyFemale_1 I could tell you straight away it's going to point at Actors\Characters\Female\FemaleBody..etc as that is th default location but it helps to know where to look for this info. So what I am looking to do is use the file locations for the Detail Map and Specular textures. Then replace the ones for the custom race with these so it keeps it's own diffuse and normal textures. Like so Going back to the Virtual Directories thing, I don't think this would be an issue as the way I understand it, the Mod Manager is basically instructing the game (for example) anything that needs to load textures from Skyrim\Data\Actors\Characters\Female now go to Virtual Directory\Leyenda AIO\Actors\Characters\Female. At least that's how I think it will work. All this being said, I feel that having your game load another set of textures files that are unnecessary for a single follower would have little effect on most modern systems but it's a still a bad habit to get into. I've just seen Andy has replied with a much shorter guide than my long winded effort... Oh well, I put all this effort in I'm gonna post it anyway

Andy14 Posted July 26, 2020 Posted July 26, 2020 It is only important that it has the same UV. A follower with a UNP body and the player has CBBE - does not work. Then it must stay as it is. So read the mod page of the Followers mod again beforehand and see which body is used.
WCSC Posted July 26, 2020 Author Posted July 26, 2020 @Andy14 @Mez558 (Thanks for visuals I'm super noobie at this) Hey thanks guys. I still use NMM to install mods (last version). I edited above and forgot to add that I'm using the UUNP version of AIO 4.0 I'm a little familiar with with TES5 Edit but by know means knowledgeable, I've only used it to edit followers from Essential to Non and to take out their inventory so I can give them armors I would like them to have. So instead of copy and pasting the files I just change their Armor Addon to SkinBodyFemale_1 which should be mine and what I changed the game vanilla too and do the same for hands and feet. This is for the textures right? The muscle, freckles Shaved/unshaved right? How do I modify the Meshes so the same body is used? Or is that not as simple as doing for the textures? I'm guessing it's best to just use UUNP and possibly UNP followers for this since I'm using UUNP and not use CBBE The TES5Edit way of doing this also solved another issue I was having and was goign to ask about with trying to give some follower mods who don't come with tex/mesh directories to drop file into, and this explains that part .ie. "Lilu" I like her textures, I just wanted to give her my body shape meshes Thank you very much this is a big educational help

For freckles, pubic hair only if it is in the diffuse (femalebody_d.dds). If freckles and pubic hair were added with overlays in RaceMenu (as a tattoo), then no. With the Meshes (Nif) is "actually" the same. However, it should be noted that the follower may also have a different race (because of different nif). In this case, the effort is actually not worth it. Especially since the follower usually also has his own armor - you would then have to edit this for your body. There is no "really right" advice in this case. In this individual case, you have to decide for yourself whether the effort is worth it or not.

A follower like Tetrodoxin's Lilu that just have a esp and bsa file, no file directories can you change their meshes, or is that intentional to make it hard to change?

If you want to make it the same as your other Bodies and since you are already editing the esp, you could actually do it there instead. Although I would recommend getting hold of a tool for unpacking the BSA files, it's really helpful. I still use an old fallout one but there are better out there now. Spoiler Change Female world Model, Model Name to the same as the male file but with the female file name.Actors\Character\Character Assets\FemaleBody_0.nif And same for the first person model. Lilu is UUNP based, in case you wondered. Also, you're going to need to do something about your head textures and the only way I can see to do this in Tes5Edit is actually changing the texture set paths (unless this was already covered and I missed it) To Actors\Character\Female\.... I'm not sure about that TX04-Height one, just leave that as is, I guess
