Expansion packs are $20 ($30 Eco) - key resellers have better prices!

Hopefully you like this info to finally buy Tiny Living or other small packs.

I only bought the Luxury Party Stuff just not interested in any others.

Don't even have Seasons or Get Famous because I hated both the Weather/Seasons and Fame in TS3.

But at least I could easily disable them back then.

I like some of the other content but too heavy a price to pay having to put up with changing seasons.

Since I start new games with planting a garden for income it's too hard to make any progress having to fight with seasons.

Haven't seen a mod yet that makes it summertime year round or I'd be tempted to buy it.

Kids Stuff, Pets Stuff, Fitness Stuff, Laundry, and Tiny Living... Meh.

I hate beds with large headboards because they block my view ?.

I don't know of any mod to make it summer all year, but there are mods for all-year plants, so that it doesn't matter what season it is. In game options, you can disable rain / snow, and temperature effects. For Get Famous, you can disable the fame system in game options as well.

Thanks, yes I know most of those can be disabled in game settings anyway and I suspect time/seasons have to continue to work to allow for the calendar and holidays to progress.

Still have some hot/cold weather for sims to deal with though even with using a plants mod.

I know there are some new traits for immune to cold/heat but I'm still hesitant.

My type of game play is more akin to living in Hawaii with temps at 70-80 year round, although they do get rain.

Only reason I haven't bought it long before now.

Once I install an EP and hate it I'm stuck with it forever, thanks EA/Maxis.

I know you can bypass Packs from loading but it's not that easy and can cause some other problems besides.

Get Famous really doesn't have much appeal to me anyway I just like the 50% off sales :)

Season is great, you can have different climates and  more kind of gameplay, get famous is important, cause you can separe ugly sims forever from your created sims. If your sim is famous. You aren’t gonna watch how that ugly NPC sim bang your sims on a corner.

Right now I don't have any ugly sims because I edited every one of them :)

Then I use NPCC to prevent the game from spawning any more random ugly sims.

It uses existing Townies and NPC's to fill all the needed service jobs.

Hated all the fans and papparazis in S3 when my sim was famous.

The changing climates just won't work for my type of game play, my sims are outsiders that wear skimpy clothing year round right now.

Could care less about the calendar, holidays, and cold weather clothing.

God knows how many long sleeve sweaters, sweatshirts, and dresses are already included with the base game and other packs.

Just wanted some of the extra content like plants, flowers, etc.

I know I'm the oddball as everyone loves Seasons and don't see many complaints.

Just wish we could just try before we buy.

Worst case I could just disable the pack later and kiss my $20 goodbye.

BTW just curious how does WW handle outdoor nudity and sex in the cold weather?

Terrible, if you put someone in to have outdoor sex, during a rain storm, snow storm, or heat wave there is 1.000.000%death chances for that sim xd. It works like ark evolved  home inside you,re safe.

The various Sims 4 worlds have differing climates that more or less match what you'd expect, based on their background scenery, so your sims would be probably be just fine in Sulani (which is heavily modelled on Hawaii) with Seasons installed.

A simple bypass for clothing problems is to copy your sims preferred outfit into their hot & cold weather slots, so that when they feel the need to change into these outfits, their appearance won't change (unless you want it to).

But I do hate Father Winter with a passion.

It's not much better on the Sims 4 front (although the fame system itself is much better done), the arrival of a celebrity on a lot often brings everything else grinding to a halt...But you do get 'Stans', who are kind of amusing.

I just wondered if the AI is smart enough to not allow sims to do stupid things in cold weather like jumping in to swim in a pool or doing autonomous outdoor sex.

Although the latter is pretty rare as sims prefer indoor sex anyway.

When Seasons came out, sims did VERY stupid things. For example, they'd often cook a meal, walk past the dining room, and eat outside (without changing). They'd freeze to death while eating. I don't have that issue anymore. It's a LITTLE bit better (not much). They'll  still go swimming and freeze. I don't know about eating, because I have a mod to fix that (and most of my houses no longer have outdoor dining. When they do have sex outside (in the cold), I have to make sure they come right in afterwards. I leave my sims naked after sex. If you have them dress up, they'll be fine. Basically, they're fine as long as they wear their Cold Weather outfit. They can stay out for a limited time without it. They're fine during WW sex, it's afterwards that you have to worry about.

If you play in Sulani, or Oasis Springs, it hardly gets that cold. I use a weather overhaul mod (for more realistic weather), so Sulani gets a rainy season during the winter. To answer your question directly, No, the AI is not smart enough. Sims will always do stupid things. I've had a sim pee himself right in front of the toilet, because he was starving and wanted to eat instead. Then he was embarrassed, and died right there from starvation with the food in his hand.

Seems like Seasons will just have me dodging, or adopting, to the weather too much to even enjoy the rest of it.

For now I'm going to hold off as that one goes on sale pretty regular anyway.

Think I'd rather wait for a future pack that's more to my liking.

Seasons has a pretty major impact on the game itself and I'm not too keen on things I can't disable if I find them annoying.

Probably no way to disable Father Winter I'm guessing?

Thanks, guess I'm not surprised though, I already have mods that stop sims from doing many stupid things.

At least since I have deaths disabled with MCCC I haven't seen this sort of thing.

Hate the constant turnover from sims dying and/or vanishing from the game by culling.

If I want to get rid of a sim I just kill them myself, lol.

It's not for everyone. I originally was just letting you know you can disable stuff. Yes you can stop Father Winter from showing. You can disable rain, and snow. You can disable the temperature effects on sims (so they won't freeze, or burn to death). You can delete all the holidays from the calendar (some random ones will still show). Aside from the build mode stuff, after you've disabled everything, is there really much point? You'll still have new activities like bee keeping and flower arranging, but the price will seem a bit steep, if you disable everything that the pack focuses on.

I personally hated the calendar at first, but now that I delete the pre-made holidays, and add my own (like Nudists' Day), it's a lot more enjoyable. During the summer, I give the kids school holidays. I also like being able to plan events, like birthday parties and weddings, at a future date & time (like we did in Sims 3), as opposed to RIGHT NOW.

It's not so much the Winterfest itself that bothers me as Father Winter himself; Quite why the jovial twat would feel the need to turn up at a Gloomy Hollow address listed to one 'Satanica DeVille (deceased)', I have no idea...If it was anyone else she would just kill him, but apparently bad things will happen if you do for the daft old sod!

The pirates day thing is annoying as hell though...Definitely s**tcan that one!

PS - I decided after Sims 3 just to buy the lot for Sims 4 (at a discount whenever possible)...The only thing I paid full price for was Eco Living, which was a pretty bad mistake after a decent reduced price run.  If you haven't bought it don't, at least until they fix the NAPs.

PPS - Knitting!  WTF?  Simulated f**king knitting!

True. I would actually enjoy it, if they'd let you edit him, into a sexy sex-hungry female. Christmas morning: "Ho, Ho, Ho. I'm the Christmas Ho. Ask me for a present!". Alas, if you edit him, they'll make another and send that one instead.

Turn of NPC voting, so that NAPs aren't randomly chosen.

try this mod

Got it (posted a link to it too, 'cos it's a lifesaver), but it doesn't seem to fix everything (I'm running quite a battery of anti-Eco mods right now)...NAPs are sneaky mofos, they sometimes seem to activate themselves!

PS -Having seventeen ongoing saves (with all the packs/worlds in all of them) doesn't help with keeping track of things.

Answer is yes, if you enter in to a pool lot during heatwaves or snow times your sim dies. They don’t stop and don’t even care search for home or rest areas with ceilings

Did the same thing myself but since I found out to disable NAP voting and a few other mods to fix most of the issues it's not such a bad EP.

Town is a bit lacking but what else is new.

Once you've done everything it gets rather boring though, which is pretty typical for most packs anyway.

Think I also paid full price for Get Together way back when and it's probably my favorite EP so far.

Yea, Knitting... still cannot believe this one was chosen.

I usually create kind of a green house, often in the cellar/basement. On my current households lot there was enough space to build an additional one on ground level. Not all plants have assigned seasons. Sometimes it's odd what is an exception. But quite a lot still grow in the winter. My game runs in my native tongue German so I can't really name the plants except for onions and I think potatoes. But it cuuld also be fall/autumn for them. Like many plants they have two assigned seasons.

Oh, and you could also plant close to the walls of your house. If they get shelter by a roof they get treated the same way as if they were inside.

But then I read about your personal game play preferences and maybe "Seasons" just isn't for you. Just wanted to let you know about it because it's on sale at the moment again.

I'm not sure if this was answered properly but: Yes, you can disable Father Winter. You can make changes to all the holidays, deleting them all together or make changes to the traditions. There's quite some stuff that's not to everyones liking. It took me some time do discover the Flower Bunny. It's quite cute but you can't make it a member of your household without cheats and you can't really date it.

I, personally, like "Seasons" and would even say it's one of my favourite packs - even though I'm not a summer person. Oh, there's also a weather machine if you want to change seasons, weather settings and so on. You can upgrade it and get more options and less fails. Again not really what I like to do but can help when you are in Granite Falls and trying to collect a certain plant/flower.

Thanks, I never liked Seasons in TS2 or TS3 either but I think you could disable the changing Seasons in at least one of them.

TS4 should have had the option to also disable seasons just like you can disable weather.

I've had the chance to buy Seasons many times at 50% off but just can't risk it.

Once done you can't go back.

I'm waiting for the new Snowy Escape EP instead.

My sim can go home to nice weather when he's tired of it, lol.

I'm sceptical when it comes to that pack but will probably watch the play through.

It sucks that one can't deativate packs like you could in "Sims 3" - or deinstall a pack alltogether like in "Sims 2". But then I liked them them all. "Sims 2" gave you the option to set the seasons all to summer or just pick whichever season you liked. "Sims 3" allowed to change the length of a season. Not sure if you were able to skip one alltogether. I still remember having winter set to just three days because the plants froze and I think there was no option to build a green house to prevent this.

My sceptisism to "Snowy Escape" is based on a couple of factors, including the fact that a part of "Season" gets carried forward. I know people would have been angry if "Seasons" would have been a requirement for having snow in "Snowy Escape" (and would have made the title absurd if there were no snow unless you have "Seasons"). It's just that weather, seasons and snow was such a big deal that it got its own pack and now, more or less all of a sudden, it gets introduced in this world. Just glad it's only a single world. Guess we will see more when they do the play through and show more of the pack.

Glad to know you don't totally hate the cold! ? ?

In real life yes I hate the cold but in the game I don't actually feel it :)

My lifetime dream was always living in Hawaii but it never happened.
