megabruh Posted June 8, 2020 Posted June 8, 2020 Basically everytime i hop on to play some skyrim it plays smoothly for like 5-7 minutes on pretty much 60 fps, then i get some serious fps drop.. im talking like down to 10-ish fps and its unbearable. the thing is if i save or wait (for some reason it takes like 15 secs to just wait while the game is stuttering) it just goes back to being normal, then it bottlenecks again and start stuttering. I tried looking online for fixes but most of them require to disable the Vsync in SkyrimPrefs.ini but i cant even find the commande to disable it. I tried using the amd software to overlay the skyrim Vsync and cap the fps between 55 and 60 but it doesnt seem to work. tried some "mods" from the nexus but no luck. when it comes to mods i dont think there is a problem. i have less than 25 mods and all of them are just followers and some armor sets. Can someone please help or point me to what i need to do ? Thank you and god bless //

You can run beth.ini to optimize your skyrim/pref.ini settings. Wrong settings in there can be deadly for your game. With the given information there isn't much to work with ?

Andy14 Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 Maybe I haven't seen it, but you have SOSRaceMenu.esp in your list, but SOS is missing. If possible, convert HighHeels for NiOverride and remove hdtHighHeel.esm (hdtHighHeel is very script heavy). Speaking of scripts. Check your Papyrus.log - or upload it here. If your followers are unique (own body meshes and textures folders and files), check if it is necessary or if they are actually the textures and meshes that you have already installed. If so, edit the mods, otherwise you'll waste RAM and VRAM. If you are using ENB, disable the effects (default is Shift + F12) and see if the FPS drops persist.
Grey Cloud Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 You really need to do some reading on how to mod Skyrim. It will save you lots of grief in the future. In addition to what has already been suggested: Get rid of these and use the UNofficial Legendary Edition Patch. 7 7 Unofficial Skyrim Patch.esp 8 8 Unofficial Dawnguard Patch.esp 9 9 Unofficial Hearthfire Patch.esp 10 a Unofficial Dragonborn Patch.esp Download this and run it on your texture folder. Have only the Mipmaps box ticked. Lack of mipmaps on textures can cause severe lag and stutter. EDIT: Forgot to post the link. ? https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/12801
King-Crimson Posted June 10, 2020 Posted June 10, 2020 The best advice at this point (and this goes in the same direction as Grey Cloud suggested) is honestly to restart modding Skyrim from 0. There's something messed up we'll probably never find and inconsistent modding will only lead to more and more critical problems in the future. Start over, step by step and always read every mods description and check for compatibility patches. Start by reading this: ... and probably the 2nd blog entry as well. After that, slowly start adding mods (by category, for example: texture packs first, then followers, then landscapes, then armors/clothes/weapons, and so on) and check in between if everything works. Also, forget about that VSYNC crap, whoever wrote that has no idea what he/she is doing. disabling VSYNC in LE will cause severe physics problems UNLESS you use the proper havoc countermeasuring patches, but even then I had mods that simply broke. Just don't do it. My Skyrim runs perfectly fine with (exactly) 588 mods and vsync enabled. "Magical tricks" like disabling vsync won't fix your problems imo. Moreover, get rid of the Official Texture Pack DLC and get a proper HD texture pack that isn't shit and bugged. And when you choose one, don't immediately go for the 8K Ultra High Versions. Start with 2K textures. For example: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/607 (Very old but I never had any problem with it and honestly 2K is good enough imo). Cheers.

So basically there is no way around it huh..well that really sucks tbh but oh well there isnt much i can do.. i ll just try to not fuck it up this time lol. I ll give that guide a good read before i do anything this time. Speaking of reseting tho, just a couple of quick questions before i start reading : 1) Can i use my saves after i re-install skyrim ? like saves with the mods that might of caused this problem (if i fix the lag can i play with my current saves) or do i have to start from ground zero ? 2) When it comes to the official textures dlc.. shud i just unselect them and apply the HD texture and im good? 3) Does installing two texture skins like "thepure" and "fair skin complexion" cause any trouble or is it that just overrides the other ? Anyways thank you all so much for the help, may the divines bless you all lol.

I would start from afresh. At least until you get a the game running properly. Then try your old saves. 20 minutes ago, megabruh said: 2) When it comes to the official textures dlc.. shud i just unselect them and apply the HD texture and im good? Yes... I assume you're using MO or Vortex. Personally I would just remove the mod from my game but I still use NMM so deactivatiting it and then installing something else over it wouldn't be a good idea. 21 minutes ago, megabruh said: 3) Does installing two texture skins like "thepure" and "fair skin complexion" cause any trouble or is it that just overrides the other ? Except in the case of standalone follower(s) or a custom race your game will only use one set of textures for each gender.
