beck11 Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Well I have slighter higher specs that yours and I think sora runs crossfire so yeah that just proves our point. Oblivion engine is poorly optimized unless you tweak it with ini, GPU profiles and mods.
LordJerle Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 I don't think I played vanilla after I discovered mods... lol... Day two of owning the game.

Even my Crossfired system get defaulted to Low settings despite I can practically crank up the settings till it stutters. Only the console versions are decently done.
Presto Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I'm actually going to hold off on the PC version for a few months (I know its a hard thing to do but all the good mods won't be out till that time anyway). I'll wait for the optimization mods to come out so that I can run the game smoothly. Currently I'm playing Oblivion on my laptop with all the graphics maxed with some slowdown in high traffic areas (Better Cities, epic battle mods, etc) so I have some hope that I should be able to run this but I expect to have to turn down or turn off many of the grass/tree/distant load features. Until then I'm going to run around with the console version for awhile and actually play the vanilla game before I go and buy into the temptation of adding mod after mod.
HanPL Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Sorry but I'm to tired to translate But first are minimal and second recommended (but for launching in ultra you will need stronger pc ) Minimalne: * System operacyjny: Windows XP, Vista lub 7 (32-bitowy lub 64-bitowy) * Procesor: dwurdzeniowy z zegarem 2 GHz * RAM: 2 GB * HDD: 6 GB * Karta dźwiękowa: kompatybilna z DirectX 9.0c * Karta graficzna: kompatybilna z DirectX 9.0c i 512 MB pamięci. marrow12 Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 only 6 gigs big? that's the most surprising part there, it seems it may be able to run on low endish systems as well, but then again, most games that run like crap do.

Daguy Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Its not that strange really. Oblivion was developed for platforms that didn't actually exist at the time, and then became what it was. Skyrim has from the start been designed to take advanatage of the Devs experiance with current gen tech. We arn't getting a borderline 'PS4/Xbox2013' game. We are getting an Elder Scrolls game tuned to perfection with up-to date tech that the developers have experiance working with, and with a focus on content rather than bling, even if it does look mouthwateringly good. So, i'm not paticularly suprised its requirements are modest. "It's all part of the plan." Man, I want it naow. it's out in just over two weeks. Gshsjsvjwbeyajs. =D
Rhavik Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Eh, perhaps they're going to pull what Dragon Age 2 did (where you need to download the higher textures after installing the game.) At least, I'm pretty sure that's what they did, after all, Bethesda said that the PC version will have higher textures, but that seems hard to believe when the game only takes up 6gb...
tomfoolery Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Hopefully the thing will be decently optimized, and the requirements don't turn out to be damn dirty lies, like Oblivion's.

Ryanhabs Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I wish I could say I'm concerned about the requirements for running Skyrim, but I'm not. I have already built a new system to support max settings and multi-displays. I threw together an Evga x-58 classified mobo, intel i7 990x six core processor, 16gb of triple channel ddr3, and 2 evga gtx590 classifieds. I think it should run decent enough.

sora3 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Hope Nvdia's 9500GTX can run it Haven't heard of a nVidia 9500GTX before. But I have heard of a 9500GT. Did you get 5 and 8 mixed up?
Silk Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Anyone got a Graphics card recommendation? I doubt my ATI 4730 will handle this.
Mailamea Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Sorry typo there and also just checked dxdiag. Its 9800GT It can run NV at ultra with 4096 texture pack mods. So i hope it can run skyrim without fps problem.
Tregarin Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 Sorry typo there and also just checked dxdiag. Its 9800GT It can run NV at ultra with 4096 texture pack mods. So i hope it can run skyrim without fps problem. Should be able to... it'll creak a bit if you whack it too high quality-wise' date=' but it should be mostly fine. I used to enjoy my 9800... was always a bit worried about ramping it up too far, since I'd seen how well (hah!) it coped with LOTR:O on max (if it got above about 40fps in open areas, it was doing damned well) so I never really pushed it with NV. Mind you, it was the Eco version, so it probably was a bit worse than yours... (running it in the most popular areas, with about 60+ other players was a bloody nightmare... single-digit rates were the rule) Now though, got a nice new spanking (Hmm.... speaking of spanking, I see [s']my victim[/s] MM is here ) GTX 570 in... even the most crowded areas are clocking in at around 80fps. Sorry... I'll stop sucking my own dick on this...
Ryanhabs Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 I think I read someone looking for GPU recommendations, I can not comment on any other cards other than evga's nvidia cards. My company sort of has a deal with them I would say if you really need an upgrade going in to skyrim... best bang for the buck is the 560's, specifically the 560 Ti. If you want a beefier card, the above mentioned 570 is a step well above the 560 or you can go all out on a 580. I don't typically recommend the 590's as the price is crazy unless you get them given to you, which doesn't happen all that often.
sora3 Posted October 27, 2011 Posted October 27, 2011 @ Ryanhabs, partially correct. I've used both nVidia and ATI and the bang for buck for both sides are the Geforce GTX560 TI and the Radeon 6950 2GB. And yes, working for a distributor of computer hardware is awesome as I see all the stuff before everyone does.
Silk Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Bleh, why do people always recommend stuff waaayyyy outa my bdget
sora3 Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 Bleh' date=' why do people always recommend stuff waaayyyy outa my bdget [/quote'] Well, if you want to upgrade cheaply, I suggest the Radeon HD 6770. That should be within your budget. If you can still source them, find a second hand Radeon HD 5850.

[/quote'] Upgraded recently from a 8800gtx to the 560Ti and I must say it really does rock!!!! What amazes me even more is how quiet (my 560 is the dual fan one) and how cool the 560 is. Damn I never realized how hot that 8800 was!
