If Skyrim incorporates multi-threading and its memory algorithms aren't the hash that oblivion was it may indeed be a treat! However, until we get our greedy little hands on it as Ryanhabs has stated is all just guessing.

And if you don't see your card, don't even thing about trying to play it. It'll probably crash on startup.

I would guess due to the ge version of the card (that being their mid-grade line at the time) you should be able to run the game on medium to low settings for a uninterrupted smoothness. That is if that list has anything to do with it. You also need to remember that vram the card has is also a factor. It looks like it wants about 1 to 2 gigs to be at the better side of middle.

Prolly low/medium or medium would be my guess, and depending on which revision of the card it is.

Well, a 9300GE is pretty much a GS but with slower RAM clocks and probably a small amount of RAM. So I'm guessing you're looking at least a very low/low level if not impossible to run due to lack of grunt to actually drive it.

My desktop:

Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4GHz Overclocked to 3.2 (kind of an old model quad, but I don't know if that matters?)

4 gigs of ram

Nvidia GeForce GTX 560 Ti

 

My laptop:

Intel i7 2.0 GHz (quad)

6 gigs of ram

Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M

 

I think I can atleast run it on medium-high on both PC's?

Your desktop will probably be able to run high, prolly high-ultra without a problem. The laptop will prolly be low-medium.

Ah, okay. Still, I would figure the laptop would fare better than low-medium? The ram is more that enough, the CPU is quad core, and the GPU has 2gb of video RAM and benchmarks almost as high as GeForce GTX 260+.

 

According tho Bethesdas blog, it should be just about "recommended".

Does anyone know any black friday deals on any of the high end Graphics cards?

 

I have a GT 240 (which is med/high)

 

It's nice with oblivion but i know i need a replacement once skyrim comes out

I'll hazard a guess you're in north america with that comment. ;) Best idea would be to sign up for newegg, tiger direct, and NCIX flyers for the next couple of weeks and watch. Plus check canadian stores if you're in the US, you can save around $0.05/dollar right now. There's a bunch of nvidia and ati cards on sale right now. You can pick up a N56GSO-1GI(560 1GB) for $179 up here at some computer shops(canadacomputers and ncix for instance).

My system should be able to handle Skyrim aside from my horribly cheap integrated soundcard which can barely handle Oblivion. I'll need to get that replaced.

I've been able to play it on high, albeit at the crappy resolution of 800x600. The only thing that seems to be eating up my Fps is the HDR effect that I can't seem to turn of.

Here's my stats:

 

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit OS

Intel i7 860 CPU

16 GB DDR5 RAM

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570

Screen res 1920 x 1080

 

I can run the game on Ultra but occasionally I will travel to a new area through a door or something, and the frame drops from a fluid 60 FPS to less than 10 FPS. Leaving the area doesn't fix the issue. If I restart, even in the area that was previously causing the low frame rate, the frame rate is back up to 60 FPS. It makes no sense why that would happen.

 

It is playing it perfectly on High settings, however. Though I feel the views in the distance don't look as great. But I get near 60 FPS at all times at these settings, so I am happy because it still looks really good. If anyone has optimization suggestions for my config, let me know.

 

Oh, and Ofinfin, why is that guy testing his benchmarks on a 16:10 aspect ratio display? The game wasn't even designed for that.

His screen ratio is 16/10 I suppose...

It doesn't matter that much, as long as all the tested presets are done in the same resolution.

I don't know much about benchmark testing, but if the 16:10 res is letterboxed like it says it is in the Skyrim installer, than shouldn't it be possible to get a higher frame rate since there is less area for the computer to render in the 'black bar' areas?

Yes, but that's not the point here, as the test is being fair and only is intended to:

 

-compare different systems: there's a problem with XP, strangely the same frame-rate as Windows 8 --> Yes they did OS optimization, but only for Windows 7

-compare different cpu limitations : the more cores the better, 3 being a limit: and guess what, Xbox 360 Xenon processor is a 3 core processor :angel: --> Talk about Xbox to PC conversion :rolleyes:

-maxed graphical settings have a huge impact on frame-rate for no visual gain --> There is no use to go above high/ultra, good to know when mods will come and kill our fps :sleepy:

 

So, as you can see, the test was not intended to see if the frame-rate is good or not, but to know above points.
