[Qustion] Creationkit - Topic Info - What about the "Speaker" field?

Another CK question:

when I am in the PlayerDialogues and open a topic info, I have a "Speaker" field at the top right.

So far, I can't see any effect of this and the CK wiki isn't helpful either. Just, that others seem to have the same question. See:

https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Talk:Topic_Info

I THOUGHT it would limit the topic to a certain speaker, but only a condition with "GetIsID" achieves that.

Any other observations from anyone?

If you don't get an answer before then I'll look at it tonight when I'm at home. However, I can't help but comment on the fact that when I click your link I come back to the same thread (this thread).

:classic_angry: F..k That stupid editor is messing up this link every time I fix it.

Inconvenient now, but at least you can cut and past it in the browser or click here ? and go to the "Discussion" page

Edit: ? It works in the Quote ... :classic_huh: every month a new behaviour

Speaker: Optionally, you can select an NPC. Only the selected NPC can say this line of dialogue.

That's something everybody does with conditions, so this is a useless feature. All tutorials I watched also said that we should ignore it.

There are a bunch of features in the CK that are left over from previous versions of the CK. Some aren't needed and some don't even work.

I take it that what the CK says here:

https://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=Topic_Info

isn't so? Specifically:

Speaker: Optionally, you can select an NPC. Only the selected NPC can say this line of dialogue.

If it were correct then there would be no difference between using it and the GetIsID (and this sort of "more than one way to skin a cat" is common in the CK).

That's what I had hoped for.

That's what I fear to be true.

I haven't seen any working example in Skyrim (LE) with the "Speaker" field, yet. And I take it that Laura hasn't seen one, too? Psalam?

If anybody can point us to one, it would be very interesting.

Anyway, I will continue with the conditions block this week. (Newly learned stuff: moving a dialogue between branches and designing the structure a bit better :classic_happy: )

Oh! And if anybody happens to stumble upon this guy who invented the SEQ file mechanic: Please leave him alive, I need to talk to him. :classic_angry:

Spoiler

It's not a bad thing though. It's a feature we already have elsewhere and we can just shrug it off as the CK being weird.

I wasn't looking for them, but I haven't seen anybody use it.

? guess what I forgot 1 single week later and how I spent the second hour of my weekend modding time ?

:classic_unsure: Now, I need to take a break and calm myself with an hour of jogging or so. Not that bad either but it won't fix my herbalist's dialogue.
