ENBHost.exe process fails again and again

Hello everyone, it seems that I've run into a fairly significant problem. Every time that I launch skyrim via SKSE in mod organizer it will give me the message that ENBHost.eve process has failed. So I looked up solutions for the problem but have had no luck so far.

The first two suggestions I came across were to run enbhost and skse loader as admins and check to see if either are blocked. So I checked, unblocked enbhost (skse loader wasn't blocked in the first place so no need to unblock it), and made sure that both programs ran as admin, but I still got the same error. Another common answer was to take the game files out of the program files directory but my game is already outside the program files directory. What few other results my searches got me either ended up with unanswered questions or had answers inapplicable to my situation.

So, what else could I be doing wrong? I am running a lot of mods (will provide a list if it would be helpful) but I've cleaned them and I doubt they're the source of the error. I'm using the fimbulvintr ENB which was initially created for ENB v121212 or something which doesn't seem to have ENBHost.exe so maybe it's unnecessary? If that is the case, should I downgrade my enbseries version down from v3.77 to v121212 and get rid of ENBHost.exe?

EDIT: Another problem, turns out for some reason the SKSE memory patch isn't working, even though I have the proper SKSE ini, weird, could it be related to this?

Yeah: I can't find any clear answers to this particular problem either and it's PISSING ME THE FUCK OFF!

You could try:

1. Checking that you have the correct enb files and that they are in the correct location.

2. Providing some relevant information.

Check whether enb is installed in the mod folder or in the Skyrim folder (also applies to SKSE.ini).
Install ENB from http://enbdev.com/ - without any presets from anyone. Use the wrapper version of ENB.

When using presets, make sure whether ReShade/SweetFX is used - see also proxy setting in enblocal.ini.

You should use exactly the ENBseries the ENB preset was made for.

Holy... that ENB is old.

Of course you need to use the ENBseries it asks for.

Why did you use another one?

Installation

  • Download ENBSeries v121212 for TES Skyrim.
  • Extract the file d3d9.dll to your Skyrim main folder (same as TESV.exe).
  • Install Fimbulvinter ENB settings by manually copying the files to you Skyrim main folder.
  • Make sure that bFloatPointRenderTarget is set to 1 in SkyrimPrefs.ini.
  • Put the in-game brightness slider to the middle position.
  • Use shift+F12 to turn the ENB on or off in-game.

If you use MO or MO2 make sure the skse.ini is at the right spot. How could you tell it isn't working?

If you use Crash fixes 12 then it takes over the skse.ini memory part, but only if your enblocal.ini is configured right. You will still need the SKSE.ini tho (at the right spot).

Hey there's at least 1 person still using this ENB!  But anyway, probably time to find a more recent ENB.

Judging from the posts on Nexus it gets a lot of praise (it's Nexus, so that's unusual).

As long as one person still using it, there is hope!

Apart from the dipstick 'correcting' the spelling of Fimbulvinter. ?

In Old English it is 'Fifelwinter' but I don't think Nexus is quite ready for that yet. ?
