theviewer Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 Can mods be implemented via Vortex? I recently downloaded SexLab Light SE, SOS, and SexLab Matchmaker (the last one for testing), put them in the the same folder, and enabled them there, but they don't seem to be working.
wildtangent Posted May 14, 2019 Posted May 14, 2019 You just need to take the file archive ie"7zip" drag it to the bottom of vortex under the mods tab, and drop it where it says drop files. THen under downloads the mod should be there to install. 1
Vyxenne Posted May 15, 2019 Posted May 15, 2019 Vortex is a mod manager. It "implements" mods and a lot more.

anjenthedog Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 if you mean the program, google 7-zip if you're confused about the filename, archive files (mods) usually use the .7z file extension and are usually named something like somethingoranother.7z so if you want to install a mod that has been downloaded and saved to a local folder, open vortex From the left panel, choose "mods" In the mods panel, look for a button called Install From File Click it Navigate to the locally stored mod file (ie, c:/someplace/I/downloaded/to/whateveritis.7z) and select it Click OK Now it will install similarly to when you click the vortex button at a nexus modpage. Do whatever Vortex say you need to do, wait for Vortex to compile the new configuration and deploy the new configuration, and you're done. (Edit: this presumes you've already installed any/all of the dependencies it requires to operate properly) 2

A lot has changed since 2017 when SL Light was released. Nowadays it's obsolete and simply not recommended if you want to use other mods for SL (for example regular Matchmaker may not work, as there was a matchmaker light made specifically for SL Light, and other light versions for other mods which are also obsolete by now). If you want to check what's alive and rocking now, check blue links in my signature. SSE Conversion tracking has a huge list of SE compatible mods and info about what's up to date for the current game version. Sexlab SE Index also has a list of mods, sorted by category and with short descriptions so you can get the gist of what each mod does. Edit: didn't notice OP posted a year ago. 1

So for instance, from here on LL, from Nexus (I sometimes download mods direct (ie, "Manual") from Nexus to harddrive and install locally, so I have a local archive, as some mod authors have and will remove their entries for whatever reason, and some mods are nice to have even after the mod author exits the modding scene or moves off a platform for whatever reason) or from an external source not otherwise linked via LL or Nexus (for instance, there are many outfits and armors and other resources that aren't available from here or Nexus) PS> to whomever, and fwiw, I concur with Just Don't about SL vs SL lite. Don't bother with SLE lite. it's obsolete and will just cause you to spin your wheels instead of playing the game.
JAKillRipper Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 I am very new to manual modding games. And in fact am primarily a console gamer. But I recently decided to set up my gaming PC again and sat down and remembered I had FNV and haven't played it in years. Like 5 years ago I used to mod skyrim but mostly stuck to nexus and mods that installed easily . I am having difficulty with some of the jargon and fine details when you say.... Navigate to the locally stored mod file (ie, c:/someplace/I/downloaded/to/whateveritis.7z) and select it. Where do I find the locally stored mod files and how will I know I have found it. I have 7 zip. I am trying to add K2 Breeze Redux for male body models to my game. I have been following a modding guide on youtube but it so far has mainly cover Vortex Mod Manager and stability and fixes. It has showed me how to manually install some mods but I am becoming very frustrated tying to get anything relative to loverslab installed. Please help.

When you download a mod other than from the Nexus you'll get a zipped file in whatever place you store your downloads. In Vortex there must be a button to install a mod from a local/downloaded archive. So you press the button and point it to the zipped files you want to install. Then follow the install procedure as usual. If you're following a video that teaches you how to use Vortex keep watching it. It's literally one button that you press and the install process is the same. Now to save you some time. I searched a bit in google and here is a screenshot of someones Vortex interface. I highlighted the install mod from file button. There seems to be a field where you can also drag and drop the zipped files to also add them to Vortex from a local archive. So suit yourself and keep learning how to use Vortex. Spoiler
AK_Stinger907 Posted December 29, 2022 Posted December 29, 2022 Does vortex tell me if LL mods need to update? I'm trying to play SkyrimSE rn but it keeps crashing it was working just fine earlier today and some nexus mods needed to update but there was nothing saying my LL ones did and it's still crashing so I assume something isn't working

I'd strongly recommend you to check what's being changed in the mod update and not simply update all your mods because Vortex can do so with a few clicks. Sometimes updates aren't compatible with existing saves. Sometimes updates mean SKSE plugin compatibility for new versions of SKSE and this can cause installed SKSE plugins (dll files) to fail to load if you're in a previous version of SE/SKSE. Vortex won't provide automatic linkage like it has on its authors' web page, "The Nexus". That's an exclusive feature the Nexus provided for mods loaded to its website, since part of the equation includes Nexus embedded information required for the 'interface' to work in that way. However, Vortex was ~recently updated sometime during the past year to (manually) provide a link box for non-Nexus mods in the right panel popup (in mods tab), as well as a "users notes" field, so you can at least link to the associated mod downloads page to check manually for updates.
belegost Posted December 30, 2022 Posted December 30, 2022 (edited) Nexus has a dedicated metaserver that keeps track of changes and Vortex or any other modern mod manager can call on this to provide information you see in the client. LL is basically a forum with file hosting capabilities, there is no metaserver. Running metaserver costs money, which LL can't afford. Edited December 30, 2022 by belegost 1
Taryth Posted March 31, 2023 Posted March 31, 2023 (edited) Could not find any cost for using their source. Just pasting the information I found for posterity. https://beatvortex.dev/docs/developer/meta/ https://github.com/Nexus-Mods/modmeta-db BeatVortex seems not to rely on Nexus for hosting at all.
