DocClox Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 I'm trying to copy the Book Of The Dragonborn and replace the logo. I tried using texture sets, and that's great, except that it doesn't work in the inventory for some reason and I get the skyrim logo again. So I copied the book, made new dds files for the textures, check it out in nifskope and all seems well. But when I open the book in game, it disappears. I still get the prompt to turn the page, so the interface is running. There just isn't any book! Any ideas anyone?

Maybe your problem is in that side. I poke @MadMansGun because they made some changes in the books animations. Sure they can give you better advice.
DocClox Posted April 6, 2019 Author Posted April 6, 2019 It's interesting: if you look at the textures assinged in nifskope, they're not for the pages when you open the book, they're for the side of the closed book, and the scrible you see when a book lies open on a table I suspect there's a swf file somewhere with an obscure linkage.

Looking at the book record, there's an "INAM - Inventory Art" record (HighPolySkyrimBook) which points at a static object (STAT) record did you try changing that? Doesn't help you with the invisible text though, no idea why that would happen!
DocClox Posted April 6, 2019 Author Posted April 6, 2019 I changed that. Mind, I did that at the same time I changed the base model; it seemed to make sense at the time to point them at the same thing. Maybe I only needed to change the inventory model. I'll try that.
Grey Cloud Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 Try contacting @karlpaws he has been doing things with books.
karlpaws Posted April 6, 2019 Posted April 6, 2019 This isn't the kind of thing I've been working on, but wanting to find a better inside-the-book resource I came across some outside ones as well. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37113 This modder's resource has some directions and examples and I think does what you're trying to do.

DocClox Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 So looking at that modders resource, there are two nifs for each book. One for the world and one for the inventory art. Turns out the Book Of The Dragonborn has two nifs as well, although one is hidden in a subfolder. I'll bet that's the source of my problem. [edit] And the BotD inventroy art static uses the nif I didn't copy. So that explains that.
DocClox Posted April 7, 2019 Author Posted April 7, 2019 OK. It works! This is using the BBM resource. I used a GIMP leather patter, darkened it, and added the title and the spine decorations. It could all be centered a bit better so I'll probably redo it soon, but it'll do for now. More importantly You can read it! Thanks for the help, guys.!
