Looks like cloudflare shitted shit up again.

That's why I've had it blocked in noscript for ages.

Cloudflare is not the issue here. Our site is hosted on Cloudflare not the malware. The malware was most likely coming from one of the adverts and embedded inself the code totally avoiding Cloudflare.

@Emily

How would you know if it's been ressolved if you don't come here :P

Anyway, I let Norton do it's thing. Thats why I pay the big bucks for it. It is irritating though when it's constantly alerting me to an attack. No warnings so far. YEA! :)

Yeah.....sorry to burst your bubble and give you bad news but Norton is like the worst anti-virus program out there. Free anti-virus do a better job then that thing.

You know, I am really tired of hearing that crap. The bashing is usually by some douche bag wanker with no money. I have had Norton for 15 years and I've never had a virus but one time and that was my fault. Norton warned me. To me thats a win-win. So keep your opinions to yourself. It's obvious your cheap free ware it not as good as you think. You told everyone to install all these other programs to be sure they were safe. I'm sure you have them installed too. I only need one. If I ever have a problem I can pick up the phone and get free tech support 24/7. Who do you call? Ghostbuster? Bwahahahah

I have been on LL several times over the last couple of days and received no notifications from PCTools during that time. I just scanned my PC with PCTools and it came up clean. I am currently running a deep scan with Malwarebytes and after about 45 minutes and nearly 330,000 items scanned, it still has yet to find anything. I prefer PCTools because it's been my experience that it finds more than either Norton or McAfee.

I have Opera, Chrome, and Firefox installed on my computer, but Firefox is my primary browser. I also use a browser app called Ghostery. Ghostery is primarily an app that protects your privacy and prevents your browsing habits from being tracked. It silently blocks a lot of stuff. Right now, this site is pretty clean as it is only blocking 2 trackers on LL; Google Analytics and JuicyAds, whatever the hell that is. Since installing it, I've seen a huge decrease in the amount of Spyware and Malware infections on my computer, even though that is not what it is designed to do. If you don't have it, I highly recommend that you get it. Firefox users can go into the "addons" section and search for Ghostery there to install the app. For everyone else, you can download the app for your browser at www.ghostery.com

I would also highly recommend that you get a Registry Cleaner and run it daily. I have two that I use; PCTools Performance Toolkit and CCleaner. CCleaner is free and can be downloaded at www.piriform.com/ccleaner and in running it side-by-side with PCTools, it's every bit as good as PCTools. The only difference is PCTools has a PC health monitoring system. I have seen around a 50% increase in computer performance since installing and running a registry cleaner on a daily basis. If you've never used one, you should see what it finds after just one Windows update. You'd really be surprised. Believe it or not, those updates that Microsoft sends out can break about as much as they fix.

Hope someone finds this info useful.

I advise you to read these.

and for your information I have paid for my anti-virus before. I just refuse to pay for one that is no good what so ever. Besides who in their right mind would pay for a anti-virus which is bad when you can get better ones for free? AVG, Avast and all the other free anti-virus programs are used more then Norton is every single day, they also include 24/7 support as well.

As for the other program it better to be safe then sorry any I.T expert would tell you to have multiple layers of defense. You anti-virus program is the last line of defense between the internet and your hard disk.

I bet most of the users on here use AVG or Avast more then Norton, including our site admin.

I realize that you have your preferences and I respect that, but how can you say that you've never has a virus if all you have used for the past 15 years is one Antivirus program? I use more than one, both free and not so free because one program will find things that another won't.

As for Norton, I used to swear by Norton. Now... not so much. It acts much like a virus in the way it ingrains itself into the Registry. That makes it extremely difficult to get rid of should you want to do so. Now you may not have a problem with that, but for someone like me that builds their own system and customizes it for maximum user control... uh-uh, no thanks.

What Ark said was valid. Norton was worst antivirus that I had installed, ever. It was some time(years) but bad taste remains. And I had to add that your flexing is a bit pathetic, if you know what you doing you do not need any antivirus and you do not need to call anyone - so give it a rest, ark at last is trying to be supportive for others.

While Norton is a large company and is fairly responsive in cranking out updates, their size and popularity make them frequent victims of attack (similar to the attacks via exploits on Internet Explorer). Norton really is like AOL in that it is difficult to uninstall (why would they want to make it easy???). I have run Norton on my work laptops (work paid the bill) and have run Avast on my Desktop Gaming Rigs. I have never had a virus defeat Avast in the 10 some odd years I have run it. Any malware or other nastiness is easily handled by malwarebytes.

Neither of these two programs cost a dime. Kinda hard to talk smack when two free programs do the same job as one that has yearly fees.

Edit: Oh, and telling someone to keep their opinions to themselves - not cool bro. Everyone (including you) is welcome to voice their opinions in a general thread like this, provided of course they do so in a non attacking manner.

There are at least 20 or more AV testing sites around the world and all of them rate Norton is one of the best. Do a Google and find out for yourself. BitDefender is in the #1 seat because Norton is slower to do scans and it gave a false positive on a non virus attack. BitDefender, Norton and Kaspersky are rated the top AV available. Avast is 10 on the list. YOu can say whatever want about Norton or how good your AV but the truth is if you don't have one of these you are at risk. Those are the facts. Norton 2013 is a lean machine, minimal footprint, fast load time and top shelf protection. And it cost $20/yr.

I have been to places where no sane computer should go and slashed, bashed and hacked many times. If you are familiar with the newsgroups you would know what I mean. Its AV hell Supreme.

And as far as I am concerned, since Ark of Truth directed his response at me personally, it was in an attacking manner. If it had been a statement of his feeling I would have ignored him.

Just chiming in to say I got the above as well a minute or so ago.

The warning message that you are seeing is from Google before the issue was fixed, as a result the warning will stay up for a week before it is removed.

The site is completely clean now and issue has been resolved.

Still not seeing enough evidence. I find it odd that AVG Free is has a higher rating then AVG: Internet Security. :dodgy: You can base how good a anti-virus is over one page of results.

Now seriously get off my back.

Anyway I have used up as much time on this subject as I would like too, I'm off to do some more modding.

Posted

Settle down and stop arguing about whose anti-virus is better, it's moot, as long as you keep definitions up they are all perfectly fine.

As for the Google warning, it was for the problem yesterday, which was been resolved, I've contacted Google to rescan the site and the warning should be removed by tomorrow.
