I got this whole list installed, stopping after each section for the "does it work" quickcheck

Thats the problem. You got the vanilla Windhelm and the modded Windhelm baked into your savegame.

So i recently reinstalled skyrim and after i ran the fnis , nemesis steps . Nemesis output isnt overwriting fnis output . Any ideas?

'Overwriting' means having it lower than the output from FNIS.

That's a definite possibility, but I'm not sure how as I delete the previous saves and start a new game for each check. Or at least I think I do, things are starting to run together :P

Ok, once more into the breach and whatnot. Thanks.

I've spent the last 4 days modding and re-installing 180 mods over and over again, if I didnt come across this I think I would've actually gone insane.

Now downloading "Skyrim 202X by Pfuscher" Other file to see if this fixes it.

Is this modlist still viable or is switching to Anniversary update better? Feels like lots of mods on nexus are now shifting to it now.

Atm. SAE feels smoother and looks imho better.

But two (key) mods are still missing:

.NET Script Framework (so no grass caching)

Improved Camera SE (the AE version doesn't work yet)

Otherwise 'AE Lite' (aka just using the update on STEAM) works quite nicely.

Will there be an updated version of this list out sometime or will only AE version be updated? I always used your lists since your guide is the best I've seen. There are so many new mods out there now that I just can't decide well.

I can't run SE anymore without having to delete all files for AE. So i have to stick with AE and updates here would be 'blind' as i can't test the mods. As you can imagine i'm very very hesitant to do anything like that.

Thank you for your replies and taking time to. :)

I will switch over to AE for now. Not sure which NSFW mods on loverslab do not work on AE but I hope a good amount of them are okay.

Anyone knows why the zaz from this forum doesn't work with nem and is there a workaround, or am I stuck with zaz 7 that makes my game freeze for zero reason?

Looks like SSEB will stay with the last update as i simply don't have the option to have two installations of Skyrim at the same time. Right now it looks like this:

  Hide contents

Untitled.jpg.07e81ba4133bd34991318556476389fb.jpg

Updates is only for the mods of FO4 and Skyrim.

As you can see going AE was sort of a one way ticket for me and with the current prices/inflation here i can't upgrade my system for the forseeable future (i simply prefer to have some food on the table ?).

For the last question: i can't really answer that. I didn't buy the upgrade (aka i only got 'Skyrim AE light') but so far we have around 120 less mods than in the guide for SSE and it looks imo better.

The drawback is the increased demand of the game. My old Radeon 570 is on the edge and only using some tricks allows me to play the game at all.

How did you have both SSEB and SAEB setup on one computer. I have not updated to AE yet. I finally have a new system with: C and D both 1TB M2, E and F both 4TB SSD. I am playing your FO4 and starting to build SSE both on Steam using the same MO2. I would also like to update as well.

Thanks

@Yrral

I used the same download folder.

SSEB and SAEB overlap a lot and, in a way, SAEB is only the finetuned version of SSEB. The main difference is merging 'Foundation' and 'Textures', getting rid of a lot of texture overwrites, and fixing the mountain bug (aka the too white mountains in the distance i couldn't get rid of for years).

In theory it should be possible to use the texture and landscape setup of SAEB for SSEB.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Are you using Steam? How do you select each? As a different profile or instance?

@Yrral

For the game you have to switch between the exe files. As long as you have a backup of the old executable you should be able to switch between SE and AE (same trick as before when a Bethesda update broke mods for SE).

In MO2 you can use different instances (aka one for SE and one for AE). But, with all the differences regarding the 'gameplay' mods, it will take a lot of space. For SAEB the created DynDOLOD files require roughly 30GB. The ones for SSEB are smaller (no seasons) but having both and all the different gameplay mods adds up much faster than you imagine.

I' ok so far. I guess what I don't understand is how you create the AE instance. My SE points to "D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\SkyrimSE.exe".

Sorry, I think I'm just getting to old to learn this stuff.

@Yrral

Just make a copy of 'SkyrimSE.exe' and name it 'SkyrimSE.exe.BACKUP'. And when you got a new version of the game make a copy again and call it 'SkyrimSE.exe.NEW'. Now you have the option to switch between versions by just deleting 'SkyrimSE.exe' and renaming a new copy of the version you want to use.

Thank you again  I made a copy of the Skyrim folder and renamed it Skyrim SE and set the path to

"D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition SE\SkyrimSE.exe".  For my SE games.

Uninstalled Skyrim and made a clean install.

Then I made a new instance and set the path to new install.

"D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim Special Edition\SkyrimSE.exe". For my AE games.

Did I do too much? I didn’t think that SE could use the AE directory. Some files in the root directory and data directories are different.

Also thanks for your builds. I really enjoyed your FO4 build.

First, I apologize for the extreme noob question.  I am installing Skyrim SE on a new computer. Havent had to do this in a few years and things have changed drastically.

I got to the step Dynamic Distant LOD something or other, and thats something new to me. Is this required? The manual reads like "How to build the DeathStar."

I found a lot of "How to" pages and NONE of them have anything in common with each other. Search on LLab is useless. Google search has thousands of results. <facepalm>.

Could someone point me to some simple instructions. Simple like you were explaining it to a child.

I recommend bypassing Dynamic Distant LOD (Level of Detail) on your first install/test until the game is stable.  It just injects the modifications to the landscape done by mods to the

distant LOD meshes that represent the terrain at a low level of detail for performance.  The original LOD in Skyrim were set up for 2011 minimum processing specification with very low detail.

Perfect.

I appreciate that answer. I just want slooty chicks and swords. :))

every time i play skyrim use your guide to add mods, i like games to have a spicy touch.

I have no idea about mods or how they work, I just followed your guide and it worked for me. I'm going to play skyrim again, and my question will sound stupid, but

how can I implement OSEX , OSA to the list?

Should I take something into account or just install it as another mod?

this one benefits from all the improved textures ?

And in what position of the list of mods should I place it?

sorry for the stupid questions and thanks in advance

If you're just starting up again, you may want to consider looking into the new AE version of the guide.

Even if you don't want to update from SE, the adult section in the AE guide does include an Osex branch to give you an idea of how to order things.

Hope that helps
