Missing head and body parts when starting a new game

So, I'm trying to start a new game of F4, but when I do and I go into character creation, the playable characters are missing their heads and arms. Okay I really didn't want to deal with you anymore and said the conversation was over with on my thread (you know - the one I started that you tried to explain to me what it was) but after seeing this. Did you already choose the Vulpine race in this picture?

Games don't use bitmaps for textures (anymore). To big, so a compressed format is used and one specifically made for games: Direct Draw Surface aka DDS which can include mipmaps as well in a single file and that can be "streamed" in.

AAF is the buggiest POS ever conceived by man. It can't even find its own files, and if I made a mod that did this, I'd be run out of town on a rail. Instead, everyone makes patch after patch, trying to circumvent it's problems. I have to wonder if people would've afforded ME the same forgiveness......

 

The answer is to uninstall Fallout 4 completely, reinstall the game & install 4Play. That is the ONLY answer, until AAF is fixed.

Let others judge if the answer is unacceptable.

 

Your pictures clearly show AAF found all files installed for it, so this statement is plain wrong.
AAF's concept is clearly not what you expect and it's not an adult focused animation framework either. it's modular and multi-purpose what has some downsides towards initial useablility, meaning there's a bit of a learing curve.
Understand it's modularity and you'll understand what those errors mean. Aside from that it is still a beta so almost everything can change, breaking older content hence the patches.

 

As you can see i gave another answer so yours can't be the only one. There are many people for who AAF works - maybe after initial trouble - but it worked in the end.
it's about not only asking for help but following up on the help given instead of fragmenting the given help with what one thinks is better, making the help request redundant in the process.

 

P.s.: Your problems with AAF have nothing to do with anything in this thread. it's about errornous character meshes.

Worst recommendation ever. Since you stated you know how to mod i highly suggest to look at how the tutorial is constructed.
What you wrote is taking chances what can work - or not. Not worth the risk.

It's not a conflict.  I got the exact same result by installing only the esm and esp files from the Vulpine Race mod, and not installing any of the other assets.  So most likely you either didn't install the mod correctly, or, as @TheBottomhoodofSteel suggested, you don't have loose file support enabled in your ini.

Hi Ego. Just curious for myself (and this thread of course). Does it matter where your VulpinePlayer .Esp is in your load order in relation to where the CBBE .Esp is. I just ask cause in his screen shot it shows CBBE loading up after so I was just wondering if that would cause it to overwrite anything and contribute to the problem he's having also or if the order simply doesn't matter with those 2 mods

@walkin i'm not Egoballistic but: The plugin should only hold the race data which is unique to the Vulpine Race so it shouldn't matter.
if there are edits touching other race records then it's a dirty edit and should be removed.

Thnx for the response. I just asked Ego cause he was the last one to post so I thought he might still be around. Lol. Good to know, if I ever decide to check it out.

The purple arms indicates missing Materials. I'm unsure if you did this but did you make sure to turn Archive Invalidation on in your inis?

The CBBE plugin only changes the texture for the back of the head on human female player characters.  It should not conflict with the Vulpine Race and load order shouldn't matter.  You can try disabling the CBBE plugin to see for yourself, doing so won't break anything since all it does is change the texture path for the one headpart record.

not sure maybe it is missed but did you check that enablefileselection is enabled in your fallout4prefs ?? also you need to add some lines in fallout4Custom to have mods activated what you see in the picture when fallout is unable to load with mods you get invisible and purple textures because the engine dont know to access those files since enbled mods support is disabled by bethesda also sometime it reset after a new patch is released.

Even if you enabled it previoisly sometime fallout 4 will reset the ini and undo any changes you made to it, i had this part happening even after steam applied a new patch. so always make a backup copy or just use the method to make the file readonly to prevent the game to make changes without your conscent.

So i made a bit of progress on this, as i was having the same problem. (note that i couldn't get CBBE textures to change from the vanilla ones, and the Never Nude option for CBBE also came appeared with missing textures, this also solved that problem)

Go to the Nexus and download a mod called "Fallout4ConfigTools" open the tool through MO2 and under the tweaks options click the "Invalidate Archives" option. then save.

I'm not much of a computer guy, but my guess is Fallout 4 is getting its body files from a older place. not sure how as i purged the game from my PC then started troubleshooting with basically just CBBE and Vulpine race installed.

Hope this solves your problem, because i have spent like.... all day on this.
