MCM duplicates and CTD on mod removal

Hi,

I have recently tried (after many months of playing with it active, yet broken/not working) to remove Beeing Female mod from my load order.

On disabling it, i can no longer save or wait in-game without a CTD.

- I have tried the player.kill/previous save method but that doesn't work here.

- If i clean the save with a save cleaner (i have tried with Savetool / Falrim tool / PDT wrapper) , it allows me to save but i then get long periods of hanging before it saves and or whilst waiting or even changing cells.

- Once saved however, if i load that save, i get the "this save is corrupt and cannot be loaded!" message... Save cleaners are then powerless on these corrupted saves too (or maybe i'm doing it wrong).

Additionally, i have duplicates in the MCM list, which i really would like to clean up... Beeing Female MCM never showed anything as far as i can remember, and appears twice also.

- Setstage SKI_configmanagerinstance 1 does not work - it doesn't refresh anything at this point...

I have :

- Jaxons MCM kicker

- CrashFixes 1.2

- ENBOOST

- Safety Load

- SKSE Plugin preloader

- LOOT'd everything

- Cleaned everything with TES5 edit individually

- Bashed patch

- FNIS'd

... pretty much run out of ideas too.

I also had massive unreadable Papyrus logs (50GB + ) at one point, but have eventually managed to rectify that by tweaking the .INI's i think, not sure what fixed that.

Also checked the strings number and am around 61000 (so under the 65,535 limit) but anyway, i think CrashFixes has a setting which safeguards against that.

All in all, the game is playable but MCM is totally stuck and i can't touch the mods which sucks.

The one thing i would like to try is terminating active threads / removing instances of scripts the proper way with Scalpel tool, but i don't really understand the tutorial video by flexcreator as there is no dialog/instructions.

Can anybody help please?  :)

? It sounds like you have a bit of a bigger problem (which might also explain your BF "not working". )

Just out of curiosity: What is the size of your latest save file? I mean the latest not-corrupted one!

And what I didn't get from your description

  • is it cleaned?
  • or is it NOT cleaned?

Next: what is the size of yor skse cosave file?

Posted

And to add to Worik's excellent question(s) do you have problems when you start a new game or only when playing a save that used to have BF in it?

Hey worik, thanks for replying.

So to clear that up:

- If i only remove BF from LO, i get CTD's before it saves/loads new cell/wait

- if i remove BF from LO, and then clean (because i can't save without CTD)  i can play and save but that save will never load again (corrupt).

So: the saves only become corrupt if:  1) I remove BeeingFemale from LO   and then   2) clean save using one of the tools.

- at the moment i can safely clean (remove unatached instances/terminate active threads) as long as i don't touch BF.

- that's the current status:   Cleaned but stuck MCM and untouchable BF.

My latest manual .ess savegame is 23,748 KB

the  .SKSE is 1290 KB

Hey Psalam, thanks for your time too!

Starting a new game doesn't seem to be a problem.

In fact i usually load via a coc qasmoke which does not have a stuck MCM... That said, i can load straight in also, i just do it by precaution.

I've also loaded a character which did not have BF and there wasn't any problems too.

Not necessarily a great idea.

Well, the reason for that is because i did follow this guide  https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50214/  Â Â  in my attempt at cleaning ?

The size of the svae looks plausible.

The cosave NOT!

Mind you that it can be ONE possible reason for trouble. => Clean it (that's why I asked about the sizes)

I recommend NIO cleaner ... link follows in a minute

I guess I need to know what your endgame is here. Are we trying to fix your save or are you looking for a way to play something resembling your load order without getting into the same problem? If the former, then there are plenty of save cleaners and Worik's choice is good. Most of my saves are considerably smaller than yours unless I am VERY far along in a game so I would expect your getting bloat. So, if the second question is what we're aiming for I suppose a load order, preferably from LOOT and preferably in a spoiler, would be the next thing.

Oh, and a last note about papyrus logs and size. While I assume that anyone who posts here has no real knowledge of what to do with them I think anyone who looks at them can see that they have date/time stamps throughout. Most of the relevant information occurs in the last 5 minutes. So, if you want to post a part of a massive papyrus log, goo to the END of the log and find the LAST time stamp. Start making a copy from the end until you have gone back about 5 minutes. If that also seems huge, continue to do the same thing at four or even three minutes. Then paste the log in a spoiler. The logs are MUCH easier to make sense of in a spoiler. I'll even let you in on a secret. When I am asked to look at a log where someone has simply loaded the file I open it in Notepad, copy it, open a response box on the thread, open a spoiler and paste it in. So, if you put it into a spoiler when you load it you've saved me four steps.

That's four years old, outdated and not very good.

This is better

https://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.10.0

If you can load a new game but not a save then your save is dead - move on.

Thanks - this is quite good, but pretty much exactly the same steps as described before or am i missing something else here?

Cheers for that! I applied this and the .skse is around the 500kb mark. Waiting and saving is now a lot quicker!

My aim here is definately to fix the damn savegame. ?

Playing a new game on this LO is feasable... But having put so much time into this character, and having unfortunately lost saves from before BF (stupid i know but with save number 1473 it starts to be heavy on HD space) i'd really like to fix it as my char is lv 95.

Testing today, i have noticed in my inventory, Carry weight is bugged at 100/100 and Gold show 200000 although i have 0... Would this point to SkyUI being stuck?
