visagezero Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 As someone who has dumped 1000+ hours into modding and stabalizing a script-heavy Skyrim LE.. I remember starting a venture into Fallout 4 and a few sex mods a few years ago, only to have constant Steam updates forcing my F4SE-dependent mods to constantly be going out of date. I ended up uninstalling, tired of having to fix everything all the time while trying to set up an awesome game with overhauls. Is Fallout 4 still receiving Steam updates? How is the modding community and content compared to Skyrim? (Mods such as Sexlab Defeat really change up the gameplay)
2Dimm Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 unfortunately yes, fallout 4 is still receiving crap upgrades that just add stuff to the creation club BUT you can set steam to update the game only when you open it, and open the game strictly through f4se, this way the game will open just fine, you will be able to get the achievements normally and the game wont update

There's another way around the updates, just leave steam in offline mode at all times. Fuck em. As far as Fallout 4 modding goes, sex mods are still extremely basic, and I really don't see it changing anytime soon. If that's all you're looking for, you'll be disappointed, but there are a lot of good mods out there.

Some, like Kassent on Nexus have managed to make their F4SE mods version independent, and as such...don't need an update with every stupid .exe patch Bethesda pushes down the CC Rabbit Hole. 2. @Dallas-Arbiter is quite correct. Sex modding in F4 is still very much in it's infancy. But there is very solid work in process. AAF has changed the game with respect to how animations are handled, there's a new Extended Skeleton in development that would make anyone drool into their keyboard. Seriously, look at the previews. People are really starting to ramp up on mods for 4. But is it worth it? To me, AAF changed things a lot. Before it was all really kludgy, hodge podge offerings that had to be cobbled together. With AAF, and the nearly plug and play scheme of things it's a LOT better, and a lot less of a hassle. I think there's a lot more to come, now that some sane animation frameworking is going on. Just my two cents.

Achievements are not meaningless for me, and a lot of people actively use steam so leaving it offline is really not the best option for most people... you will load the game though f4se anyway so i dont get why bitch about it, also if bethesda disables achievements with mods of course there is a mod to re-enable them https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/12465
phillout Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 You probably should specify exactly what you're looking for while asking. Because some people are looking for realistic sex animations with bouncing boobs and physics-enabled vagina, others are into story-driven mods or some specific mods like player slavery or bestiality. If what you are looking for is a replacement for the Defeat, there is RSE Elements, vol. 1 (CSA) which is a good substitute. In a nutshell, animations/sex mechanics/pregnancy mods are already good enough. RSE Elements are great (I would recommend them over the "full" RSE) - they are adding a lot of mechanics to the game. There are good NPC enslavement mods, such as Just Business. Happy Hookers Inc., a prostitution mod with quests and a free-form story, worth mentioning too. But other than that - not so much.
landess Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 The title of this post really got me thinking about what motivates people to create mods in the first place. I've seen plenty of examples where they've done it for themselves, and sometimes share that work. Other times it's an EGO trip, or a way to make money. I like to think once someone is proficient, they do it as a hobby and a feeling of self satisfaction. Obviously Bethesda thinks it's worth it, but yeah, I stopped getting updates within a month of getting the game - although I did get it almost a year after release. My experience told me the talented people whom mod, usually fix way more than the parent company will and why in the heck does a game over a year old need to be patched anyways in my case. With people chasing the updates and those being a requirement for many mods, I tend to lose out on updated or new ones ( like the ingame mod management tool ). So be it. Lucky for me I've learned to Archive entire game folders for games I add mods to, so in the future I can always swap 'installs' if need be.
AWP3RATOR Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 6 hours ago, visagezero said: constant Steam updates forcing my F4SE-dependent mods to constantly be going out of date This is still, more or less, the norm for Fallout 4. However, F4SE does not have anywhere nearly the depth of Skyrim's SKSE - so the vast majority of mods do not require it, though there are several "core" mods which do (LooksMenu, MCM - to name two major dependency mods), which do). Updates have been coming from Bethesda nearly monthly until recently where they seem to be coming about every 6 weeks. When those updates come, of course, F4SE "breaks" which requires about 1-2 days wait, then of course, the dependent mods require an additional 1-2 days to update. All in, you could be out 4-5 days in total for full compatibility/updates with the newest fallout4.exe. Like Skyrim, there are several ways to deal with this: 1. Setting Steam not to update you game 2. Keep backups of the Fallout4.exe, when the game updates - simply rollback to the previous .exe until your mods have updated.
ssddsquare Posted December 15, 2018 Posted December 15, 2018 Besth games... imo, not worth playing without mods.
