Bethesda Petition

I never post and been away from both Skyrim and Fallout series for well over a year and came back to just stalk the forums and read some posts. While I did that I was reminded just how horrible Bethesda did with Fallout 4 and I loved the Fallout series probably more than TES. But, the most obvious thing was that the Creation Club forcing constant non-stop updating seems to have greatly hampered the very talented modding community. I feel Bethesda has done more to work against the independent modder than in any previous Bethesda game in memory. I guess to get to my point, maybe, we should form a petition and gather as many signatures as we can and hopefully try to sway Bethesda away from this awful Creation Club. I doubt it will have much change because Bethesda is a stubborn developer. I'll be honest probably be awhile before I come back, but, curious what everyone's thought are trying to petition Bethesda to stop the constant mod breaking updates.

EDIT: Just wanted say thanks to all the modders for all they do to make games better for players like me.

Of course Bethesda is working against the modding community, free mods mean less money they can milk from lazy casuals. From what I've heard ALL future Bethesda games WILL ONLY be available on Bethesda's own platform. That most likely means they will have ZERO mod workshop support and they'll try to ONLY allow Creation Shop mods to work with future Fallout and Elder Scrolls games.

The only reason to even play Fallout and Elder Scrolls games anymore (except for New Vegas and Morrowind) is for the mods. The stories are garbage, all the systems keep being dumbed down and simplified and now the games are gonna be restricted to ONLY Bethesda's own platform where they'll have complete control over every aspect of the games.

The only way to fight a corporation is to hit them where it hurts.  The only thing that hurts a corporation is the bottom line.

Petitions are so 80's  Start a social media group dedicated to exposing all the practices that they do. Get people to spread and share this information .

Then suggest that everyone suddenly (en masse)  cancel their Bethesda account and to close their accounts with anyone who deals with Bethesda.

This will hurt Steam who in turn will put pressure on Bethesda.

Get on a local news station, do a YouTube podcast.  Even if what you say is not 100% true it will still have the desired effect.

THEN!! and only then will they listen.

Yep, which is why Skyrim and FO4 are the last Bethesda games I'll ever buy.  I mainly play Skyrim SE cause of mods and have auto update when game is launched.  So since I use SKSE64 I am two patches behind and unless SexLab gets a major update, or the latest OSex is ported I won't update.

I'd like to say I doubt they'd be stupid enough to try to block 3rd party mods, but there is precedent in the behavior of Fallout 4's very first patch. That patch tampered with config files and made a really poor attempt at locking out mods.

But it doesn't matter really, we'll mod these games whether they like it or not. It would hurt the flexibility of their games if they refused to provide an official creation kit, but as we proved with Fallout 4 and their unacceptably long delay in releasing its CK, we don't really need it. I've been modding games since the days when game publishers were stupid enough to send Cease & Desist letters to modders. We don't need their permission or their tools to create and use mods and we have more middle fingers to point at them than they do at us.

Beteshda has some of the best lawyers on the world.

And, yes, they try to milk mod from the modding community. But I doubt they will completely stop it.

Just be aware that they cannot publicly allow nude or sex mods.

But they will never stop such mods, because they bring about 10% of their revenue of the games.

Was already done.

There was even one on Steam I think that got over 30k signatures. Bethesda doesn't care what we want/think. Plus they have enough people buying up CC content, from reviewers to console players, that there is no reason for them to remove it. Heck, just go to the Bethesda site and look at the CC forums. There is people giving them ideas for what to put on the CC next.

Now that they realize they can milk the community with paid mods, they are going to continue to do so. Expect Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 76 and all future games to have the CC integrated at the beginning with a bunch of day one "dlc" (paid mods).

I though you meant money. That's the only thing that companies care about. If FO76, TES iv and further Beth titles decay on sales it will matter. Anything else is free publicity. Shame that most of the consumers are not aware or don't care about this kind of stuff and just pay for the newest release, or yet worst pre-order...

I can valid all of this.

Personnally, I won't buy anything from Bethesda again. Fallout4 will be the last.

I dont think that will ever happen, since the best modders are against forced paying part. you would see a major decline in very high quality mods. and only major increase texture mapping.. :D  idont think people will feel the need to pay for low quality mods.

Fallout 4 will also be the last game i ever buy from this company since i am not very fond off online play only. So the new fallout will not really be my cup of tea.

I think you are all reading this situation wrong;

the sudden distaste for modding is because it's clear Fallout 04 was prep for Fallout 76. Since Fallout 76 is going to be nothing but an on line PvP Gank fiesta the Devs want the mods under control so Fallout 76 doesn't fail from widespread cheating.   This is of course futile because so many players HAVE to cheat.

Even then petition Bethesda won't work because the word is the pressure for paid mods only is coming from Bethesda's corporate overlords.  Naturally since aforesaid overlords know nothing about the products they mandate only the most shortsighted and foolish of business plans because that's what the elite in our society do these days.  If the Fallout fans get pissed and stop buying, well as we saw with Disney and Star Wars - it's because the fans are crazy and the staff screwed up, not the Overlords mandated a pathetically immature idea that they knew would fail simply as an exercise in personal power.

As for TES5, it's not going to happen until ESO starts drying up.  Again, corporate overloads want ESO because because MMORGs are so 2005.  From the overlords point of view ESO subscribers pay the equivalent price as for a new game every two months as compared to a TES5 which would only be one time purchase then possibly some Creation Club mods.  I suspect Fallout 76 is an attempt by Bethesda to placate the Corporate Overloard Serious Person who is obsessed with MMORG because his grand kids play WOW - Serious Person who is totally not some octogenarian with early dementia and who spent most of his career in finance gets to hear the phrase "On-Line" from Todd Howard during a presentation and Bethesda doesn't have to surrender one of it's hit products to another company like it did with ESO.

When they kill free modding, they kill the Creation Club.

When there is no free modding their own games will have to be strong enough to stand on their own feet.

Bethsada Games Studio, gets to consistently sell old games at a higher price because the demand is based on the additional free content that is available to be used in a consumers play time.

Imagine trying to sell Fallout 3 or Fallout NV...Or any of the titles they produced at the price points they do without any mods available.

They would not nearly sell as much copy.

The games would be suffering the same as any other game by other production companies, that is after 1 month of release you have pretty much sold 90% of what your game is going to move.

How important are free mods, well in one summer 2 years after release Bethsada sold 1 million copies of Skyrim on Steam....No other non-modded game does those kind of sales that long after a game launch so how was that done....1) Steam Sale and 2) Youtubers doing lets plays of Skyrim modded.

Those 1 million copies were all on the PC, and all of those people headed over to the Nexus inside of 2 days...You could not get a mod off of the nexus easily for 7 days, they literally had to get more bandwidth to meet the new demands on the site and of course Nexus tracks its subscriber counts which is how we know that it happened in that number of days.  The amount of people playing Skyrim of course also sky rocketed.

For all intents and purposes after a game has been out for 1 month...Its a dead game...It wont sell any more copy, and if it does it will be at severely discounted price points.

Why not ask the modders to try to develop runtime agnostic versions of their frameworks instead? That is a far more realistic thing to ask than to tell corporations to leave money on the table.

As I said it's obvious to us, it's almost certainly obvious to Bethsade since they were so cool to modding  for such a long time. but Bethsada is now owned by some investors group who are completely insulated from the reality of it all or worse, packed full of well connected idiots who failed upwards (seriously, what fiance faster tracker looking for early retirement is going to be  involved game companies?).  Just look what they did to The Elder Scrolls series, they yanked it from a solo RPG to an on-line MORG, how crazy is that? That's like someone buying out some car company like Ford and giving the name brand to an aircraft manufacturer.

The really disturbing thing is this Investor Group might wreck Bethsade, fire the management team for "incompetence" and then sell the rest of it for salvage.

After being tricked once, one should learn from one's mistakes and avoid being tricked in the same way again...

The fate of BioWare's Montreal branch (ME trilogy, Andromeda) on the gaming market - the fall of a grand idea

into nothingness externally and internally (the leading devs have left the sinking ship already) - shows crystal clear

what happens when a developer company fools its fandom twice with literally crap (ME3 ending, Andromeda). It's

the near-death of the company due to the absence of customers that'd buy into the quality of the product line...

Question is, has Bethesda already fooled their fandom once, or perhaps even twice? And what actually defines such

a Bethesda fan next to a total customization of the game as they see fit? There's hardly anything. Think about it...

Wanna play FO4 Vanilla Plus (CC) or join in the Muahaha battle cry of those that have micro-transacted their last

marbles (that's what I did as a little girl, took me a while to recollect them all, well, almost all)? Don't let me stop ya.

If it were possible, it would have already been done.
