Yeah right.
but this movie was filmed by a very small Polish company, they did not have the financial means to do it better.

concur. I agree with your assessment that they shud just write in a new character for diversity instead of making Fringilla VIGO a black woman.

There are no endemic human races in the witcher universe, only nationalities all of which are literally made up, as humans didn't evolve on the world, they crossed dimensions.

I hope they get Orlando Bloom to play the leader of the scoia'tael- assuming they will be in it. What books is this supposed to cover? If it's the same story as in the games- then I doubt they will do any of it as well.

I don't think Bloom has enough sneer to be Yaevinn; as for stories, they're just cherry picking whatever seems best for the format.

He will if they keep him snot-slinging drunk! Not sure what they could do about the voice though. :P And the pick for Yen is wrong....like several have said.

Yep I found Netflix shows like 12 Monkeys, Brooklin 99, AIKo, 3%, The 100, Death Note, Disenchantment, The Expanse, 7 Deadly Sins, Black Mirror, Orphan Black, Van Helsing, Magic Schoolbus, Mister Maker, Shadow Hunters, Pokoyo, Equestria Girls to all be hyper extremist centre lower right snowflake deplorable Russian election rigging political posturing :)

While I agree that an older looking Yennefer, as depicted in TW3 would work better, the younger actress they have chosen fits the lore of the books. 'Most' Sorceresses had already started taking a Mandrake concoction to stall the physical effects of aging in their twenties or thirties, Yennefer even described as having the physique of a twenty year old. Also, she is a Quadroon; one fourth Elven blood. That being said, the young actress cast still doesn't fit the description in the books.

This is a pretty good point actually.

If anything yen from the games is the setting-failure.  She looks right on between 30 and 35 - still beautiful but an old crone compared to the age sorceresses are supposed to appear to be. As much as her face is now "Yennifer's face" in my mind, if the actress can deliver a performance of emotionally mature, confident woman with unhealthily large ambitions then she's at least got a shot at replacing her as the most "canon" Yen.

My concern is young actors seldom can deliver such a performance.  You need a 20 year old girl to have the take-no-shit attitude of an 80 year old woman without turning it into a girl-power performance.  Young people don't understand the mindset of "too old to give a fuck". I have never seen that done successfully - but who knows.  It could be possible.  If she does I'll definitely admire her acting prowess.

Very well said. I think it means when you want shit done right, you stop pussy- footing around other's delicate sensibilities or some stupid set of rules and shit. That's Yen seeing the big picture and fighting with everything she has to ensure her's and those she cares about survival- while also furthering her own ambitions to some degree. Just a beautiful character imo. Though, I might argue that she seems to have been born that way or whatever more than being "hardened" with age. Still not a role that many young actresses could pull off convincingly.
