Hello all,

 

Intro (skip if too long, not important):

 

I am currently playing through a heavily modded skyrim game (see load order bellow) and my game is rather unstalbe (I know...shocking).

 

It is far from being unplayable and after entire days spent trying to solve the problem (I did reduce the number of CTDs considerably in the end), I decided to power through it and just accept it. But I thought that just because I ran of ideas to fix my game, didn't mean one of you kind people couldn't maybe have some more ! So, all help is welcome !

 

description of my problem :

 

Very often, I experience CTDs when walking around/in the cities and towns of skyrim. The size of the city doens't matter, I experience this both in the holds capitals and the small villages (like Ivarstead for exemple).
It also happens in smaller cells within the cities (traders, inns ect...).

It almost always happens when I open the menu to save, my inventory, a barter window, a container ect... and almost never happens while out of these interfaces.

Very occasionaly it will happen in the wilderness. That's so rare that I wouldn't consider it a problem though. And it never happens in dungeons.

Steps taken to fix problems :

 

- I use ENBoost

- my load order is sorted by LOOT

- I use a Wrye bashed patch (maybe poorly since I don't fully understand how this tool works)

- I use papyrus with JContainers

- I cleaned a few mods using TES5EDIT

- I use a little mod called "safety load" found on the nexus which has completely fixed the freezes  and infinite loads problems

 

Suspects :

 

- SkyUI : never heard of this mod being a problem but the fact that the CTDs almost always happen when opening an interface makes me wonder

- Immersive armors : the fact that cities are bugged makes me  think that the modified city guards armors are responsible but deactivating the mod doesn't solve

- Creature framework : papyrus log tells me that the game was running a shitton of script for the mod before crashing... but since it so rarely happens in the wilds, where most creatures are... I don't know...

- just general script overload : yeah... probably...

 

Conclusion :

 

First of, thank you for reading all of this, you are awesome. Have a honningbrew mead on me while in skyrim. 

 

At this point I am ready to accept the fact that it's just a script overload and that no matter how much I try, I will never get it stable with so many mods. As I said, I got tired of spending days trying to fix it and I am just content to play through it despite having to restart the game occasionaly when going through cities.

 

But if you have any suggestions, if you spot any compatibility issue or know of one of my mod that is problematic, please share your solutions with me.

EDIT : forgot to mention, I have a new, quiet preformant computer. Don't have the stats right now but it's a brand new Lenovo "Legion". So I don't think memory is a problem

Well... if you have CTD i think you need stability tools.

Google a bit and install this if you not have it:

SKSE Memory Patch

Crash Fixes 12

ENB in Boost mode

 

SKSE Memory Patch is a simple ini file but you need it if have mod's with SKSE

Crash Fixes 12 is the most powerfull tool for give stability to the game and catch a lot of problems.

ENB is obligatory today and help a lot in the stability to the game. While you have CTD use it in Boost mode.

Some CTD can be caused by a bad configuration of ENB.

 

Reinstall XPMSE and let it overwrite all. Is another know cause of CTD.

XPMSE must overwrite all and none mod can overwrite XPMSE. Re-install it every time you have problems.

 

Safety Load is a bit old and is supersed by Load Game CTD Fix. I not use Safety Load for long time ago.

 

Test your game ALWAYS IN A NEW GAME. A lot of instabilities, CTD, freezes and problems come from damaged or corrupted savegames. Forget yours savegames for now.

First verify if your game run good in a NEW GAME. Latter we see if your savegame is recoverable.

 

If the problem not disappear with all this tools and steps you can have a problem in a mod.

And the only way for locate it is disable half of your mod's and start a NEW GAME, with 80 mod's in your case.

If problem persist disable another 40 mod's and make another test.

When the problem disapear start enable mod's in groups of 5 or 10, not more, until locate the problematic mod.

After you do everything that GenioMaestro suggested, if you are still having problems (and you may not be), let me make the following suggestions:

1) Get rid of the three SexLab Nude Creatures mods. At best they are now redundant (since you have MNC and others loaded) and at worst they are part of your problem, and

2) Unless you are absolutely sure that you want it turn off Hentai creatures. 

 

Let us know how all that works out. If this fixes your problems come back and we'll give hints on things you can do to shorten your load order and improve your performance (that's quite a mod list you have there).

I forgot coment another very important utility called BethIni for manage the ini files of the game.

Some parameters in the ini files are very important and are too related to the stability of the game.

 

Simply open BethIni and mark Enb mode and recomended tweaks. Press High and save/exit.

ok, I have followed all of your recomendations and I will soon start a new game, get to lvl 10 and see as much of skyrim as possible in order to check that everything is working fine. Don't know if I'll be able to play for the next couple days but once I know everything is good I'll load my real save and see if a problem remains. I will update this thread then.

So I couldn't wait to try it after all and I played all night (I had a bad day at work today ^^).

And I can't thank the both of you enough. Not only did your solutions worked with a new game but I tried with my old save and everything works fine, I have yet to experience a single bug or CTD.

Not all players can do this and not always work perfect, it's not easy to achieve.

Do not worry if your game does CTD, in some installations it is normal and inevitable.

 

Open the console and type TGM and press enter

Type player.setav speedmult 1111 and press enter

Close the console and duck a few times until the game gives you super speed.

Go running at super speed, for example, from the whiterun stables to the riften stables and return to whiterun stables, do not fight with anyone, you can't do at that speed, just run and ignore the fight.

 

I can do this in 3 or 5 minutes without any CTD and only with some freezes from a few seconds.

If your game fails, sorry, it's not a super stable game. Try the 555 speed. Tell us the results.

sorry, honestly wasn't expecting a reply. my game CTD any time i get near a town or city, load order will be listed below. i've tried multiple meatheds, everything listed above by genio, multiple stability patches and bugfixes, but nothing seems to be helping

I was using Rudy enb for obsidion weathers but followed a guide to remove it, I'm still relativly new to modding, but have been following guides found online. I disabled the varied guard helmets in IA but still CTD, game has no problems loading in city cells when i choose property options or sail to dock from the alternate start menu but crashes as soon as i get near another town or city (sail to Solitude Docks at start, then walk to Dragon's Bridge as example or local patron at in in dragon's bridge and walk to solitude)... Again i'm new to modding, all mods have already been run through xEdit and cleaned as well, along with DLC.

 

I'm running Version 1.5.97 of se using downgrade Fullpatcher found on the nexus.

 

And appologies as i'm unsure of how to aquire the auto generated load order list from loot so the list provided above is manually typed.

First off - none of the solutions in this thread will work for you because you are running SE and they are made for LE. It follows that you are in the wrong section.

You can get a load order from MO2. (Don't ask I don't use it).

 

First thing you need to do is make sure all your mods are for SE or at least SE compatible.

Next learn how to use your mod manager.
