Music how important is it to you?

I am a music addict and snob at the same time. I listen to all genre of music however it must be done well.. Vocals are paramount when used in a song I like powerful voices from the likes of Sissel Kyrkjebø to Till Lindermann and all in between. I listen to a range from heavy metal to classical all in the same listening period. I also really like guitars that are played with emotion and intensity examples Joe Satriani Stevie Ray Vaughan to the likes of Kerry King  . I am not fan of the new wave voice machine bullshit nor do I like groups who have no instruments or talent to play them or can't sing for shit. So why the addict part?..... I have two music subscriptions who knows how many songs bought CDs.. and yes I even listen to vinyl records. I have a top notch music system that when I play it everyone listens to it I am a firm believer in having my own concerts when I play music lol. So here is a taste of what I like :)

Pretty much ignore it, I do have a couple of 3ftx2ftx2ft crates full of cd's though, even have the on my laptop but rarely if ever listen to them, I do watch the occasional music video on youtube.

There again there are not to many artists where I like all they do for the most part I may like one or two of there songs and not really be bothered about the rest.

Though I am quite partial to abney park, and steam powered giraffe as well as evanescence, I also have stuff by meatloaf, clannad, enya, who, quo, and quite a few other groups.

Hum, i don't know how to reply the title question. I think it is important to me, mostly because i listen to music everyday, and i have that hidden dream of becoming a singer. Never worked towards that, though.

But i like music since i was a child.

I remember that i would sit down and start writing a story while listening to rammstein, i would put songs while i was playing with my toys. I think it is more important to me than i even know. Maybe when i'm a bit sad, i may listen to something and then think about the lyrics, or start singing it, or maybe start to daydream about me being the vocal, things like that. Most times i am always singing one song in my mind, without even noting that.

I mostly like metal, but usually i say that if i hear it and i find that it is good, then i like it. I even don't like some of the most known rock or metal bands lol

Since i like to wear boots, chains and black in general, some people come to me and talk like if i am a metal head, but i dislike it. I just like to wear it.

I have a symbol of the band SepticFlesh tattooed on my arm, i really love them. Had the opportunity to see them live here, too. It was amazing.

Since i like a lot of, well, strange things, to say the least, i don't care much about the artist being really good at what it does. If they can compose something that is good to hear, that's great.

I used to listen almost only to japanese metal before knowing SepticFlesh for the first time and starting listening to more death and doom metal. Now i just love it.

From everything that i hear, what i prefer is always what i am listening in the moment...

But let me leave something here, from a metal band, but that express a lot of how i am feeling at the moment haha

Does people like music?

Of course I do. Most people do anyway.

Degrees of importance, I guess, vary from person to person. For me it's a vital part of enjoying something.

However I do not agree with the idea that you must be a prententious "music coinosseur" to feel good about yourself. That is entirely different from music itself.

Who cares if you like rock, heavy metal, classical rock, maybe pop or classical music. I dislike a few things but try to enjoy most of it. Tend to be more inclined to heavy rock, but I like romantics, ellaborate industrial metal, goth, trance or classic some other times, just to mention a few. Depends on the mood. Also a sucker for soundtracks of stuff.

I dunno. Feel like if you seek to "define your personality" by a music culture type, you must not be really sure about who you really are.

That said, since this is a gaming forum I will say this

A good OST is of PARAMOUNT in any kind of good storytelling.

Dont believe me? Just look at some of the most classic pieces of pop culture considered god tier quality. Most have at the very least a compelling soundtrack, if not a legendary one.

Music has a way of accessing parts of the brain that logic cannot understand. It reaches directly to emotion centers, thus creating a superior effect in storytelling. This goes for games, movies and shows alike.

Hmm, I always turn in game music off, for the most part I tend to find it damn annoying no matter how good it is.

Oh I know who I am that has never been a question in my life. I liken a well made song to a fine glass of scotch it is really nice to enjoy them for what they are.

Amy lee now there is someone who can sing she done a great rendition of " going to California "

Sound and music design in video games are severely underrated

You would think most people would realize that about film and games, about how much of a difference the musical score makes in setting the mood. I will never forget the music from Star Wars for as long as I live or the era music from L.A. Confidential. Let's not forget the Music for Sergio Leone's trilogy. Sound is just as important as music to me. I use certain weapons in games because I like the way they sound as much as and maybe more than they look or their stats.

Since 2005 I set all my uploaded in-game screenshots to music (currently 146 in FO4 alone), so yeah, music is important for me. And the air in Kingston town is full of music anyway, mostly dancehall and reggae tho. I just love it.

Sounds a little like paradise. You said something about moving one time I thought? I can't imagine why you would.

That was just a thought about the geopolitical situation and a possible further deterioration of the situation towards a shooting war b/t nuclear superpowers, when all bets are off. But that day has not yet come and hopefully never will.
