You're special.  No, You don't understand.  From a 'scientific possibility that YOU exist' standpoint, every last one of us is, indeed, special.

Guy I somehow ran across who does 'interesting stories'.  Basically he scours the interwebs for interesting, odd, and often scary stories, very often directly people oriented.

This particular short story talks about how it is the basis for a VERY well known song from the late 1990's called 'The Way' by Fastball.

As I recall, the propeller tips would go supersonic and it was that which caused all the noise.

Water on the moon:?  Probably.

On the Saturn V, and the fact that it was anything but perfect.  Specifically, not ALL of the parts were tested.  Sure, the bigger parts were heavily tested (engines, crew life support, etc., but every little resistor?  Not a chance!

This was the tradeoff required to meet Kennedy's 1970 deadline.

As I understand it, one of those untested parts failed on Apollo 13, effectively ending the mission, and almost ending the lives of the men on board.

Is one Saturn V not enough for you?  Okay.  How about FOUR?  1968 concept for getting a million pound payload to orbit in one launch.

What Special Forces is all about.  This is British S.A.S., but I've heard it from the U.S. SEALs, too.  Nothing from Delta, of course.  Professionals don't talk.  They just do.

Tyson with the very good point that the dinosaurs would have gone into space and deflected the asteroid if they could have.
