Yeah, I always use new games to test mods.

That being said, I have done two things since and I have seemed to have fixed the issue with the events. First, I noticed that Wyre Bash was saying that this mod (Cursed Loot ESP) and Devious Devices Extension ESM had the skyrim LE form factor, so, I simply converted both mods to SE using CK. Second, I leveled my character to 10 (since you made it clear that characters must be past level 3 to trigger traps). Upon inspecting a body with 100% chance of triggering DCL, it worked!

Ill be honest though, I did not think I had to convert the esp to SE considering this is the DCL SE conversion thread? Regardless, that... or the level thing fixed my issue, cheers.

Zarantha linked to a converted version of 8.3 earlier, its just not been uploaded by kimmy to the main page. No conversion necessary if ya use that.

As far as your character level, you can go in the main menu and change that to level 1. But thats only for more advanced trap outcomes, I dont think it prevents you from triggering traps in general just disables the harder trap options. Also as Star said, theres another MCM option that disables traps completely if your arousal isnt high enough. I figure a trap doesnt really know what my characters arousal number is so I tend to drop it to 0, I counter that by lowering the odds of a trap a bit is all.

Theres a lot of things actually that are based on having a higher arousal or not, I suggest combing through all the options in the MCM and lowering what you think seems reasonable if you dont want arousal level to dictate if something can happen or not. When your done, go to the debug tab and export your settings so ya dont have to do it anymore :D

for me, it's more about what's my mood, and is my 14 year old daughter around. There are times I just want to get things done without DCL hanging over me, or I don't want to trigger something my daughter might see., So, 1 fridgid wash keeps my game 'playable' for those situations.

If I'm already bound, I'll try to play in first person a lot if the girl is nearby

Id just play when they go to bed *nod* Or when shes watching tv or something. Thats the problem with having responsibilities tho~ ?
Still, if I had a kid, I'd probably just explain sex stuff to them when they asked so they dont get stigmatized by it like I was~

Anyway if you want, I could share my CL settings. I feel it is very "playable" with just a few surprises here and there, unless ya wanna make intentionally bad decisions.

She understands the sex. She's just repulsed by it. (She has a touch of autism and has it in her head that sex is gross. Although she's maybe changing her mind a bit as she's starting to get interested in boys.) Although some of the stuff I wind up wearing, like the silk mage's dress, she finds funny.

I do have a pet peeve though. Just discovered it tonight. Why isn't there a toggle to disable bondage mittens? I hate them with a passion, and there's a toggle to disable almost any other type of device.

Should I be posting that question on the oldrim DCL thread?

There is a toggle for bondage mittens~ its called hardcore bondage mittens under DD's mcm

No there's not. That just determines how hard it is to pick something up while wearing them. Under the Devices tab for DCL you can toggle off or on (almost) every other type of device. I don't want to just set them to "easymode" I want them gone from my game.

The problem is, that I did too much in the beginnig, so ppl think that they depend on me. It seems to me like I'm the big rock in the way of others, when it comes to porting mods.

Only reason I said you were better at conversions is because I'm still learning and tweaking as I go. That doesn't mean I won't catch up to you, count on it.

Oh, my mistake. I misunderstood what you were saying... no there doesn't seem to be a way to disable mittens themselves which I agree is kinda odd now that I think about it. I like the mittens tho so never noticed really. But considering you can decide if you want ball gags, ring gags or panel gags, slave boots vs pony boots, corsets vs harnesses... and so on, strange they dont have mittens included under wrist restraints or something.

I guess one thing you could try doing until its ever added is just lowering "Standard Item Weight" to 0 under events~ pretty sure mittens are in that standard item category. But that would get rid of other normal items from triggering as well.

The reason this rant came up is that I normally reload a save if mittens come up, but in this case I got heavily hit by a darebox, and then the good people of whiterun decided it would be more fun to pile on more restraints and rape me than help me. (who am I to complain!) when I suddenly realized someone had added mittens to me inside my straightjacket. I wasn't about to reload probably about 40 min of nice restraint and sex time. Finally Ysolda unlocked my straight jacket after doing the shopping quest. I went to my chest where I store my spare keys, and had 5 restraint keys and saved there. It took me 2 hours of reloading that save over and over to unlock those mittens.

Well there's a few things you can do. First off you can always lower the difficulty setting of course, so you dont need to save scum. Personally I dislike the whole "you can only try to escape once every so many hours" (I play on a slower time scale too~) so I dropped that to the easiest. I also dislike breaking keys since I figure that would be super rare, so I dropped that to the easiest too. I did keep the escape difficulty on normal, but then when trying to experiment with what might be causing ALL gags to prevent ALL ability to communicate I tried lowering that to the easiest too at least for the temporary.

I wish there was some sort of information or percentage or something to tell you more about what the various settings mean, but even on the easiest it's not THAT easy. Just not hard enough to entirely prevent you from progressing through the game anymore, least not for very long times... maybe sometimes you get inconvenienced and have to head back to town or something.

Otherwise, not to beat a dead horse but like Ive suggested before, you can get a mod that lets your follower help you out, and a bunch of settings for how easy or hard the rest of it becomes. Devious Device Helpers which returns the old behavior of being able to ask for help and is relatively simple, but also adds some playful interactivity so your follower does more than just carrying your burdens. The second is DeviousFollowers if you want something harder or more in depth. Both of them can have your followers unlock mittens if ya hate them so much. DF works out well with Simple Slavery as well, so bonus there~

Oh, speaking of horses, if you dont like follower mods, one of my favorite mods is Convenient Horses... mostly cuz it lets you put some stuff in its saddle bags but has a bunch of other horse improvements and even the ability to train it and level it up. *nod* But, its nice to have a portable item stash with some extra keys just in case.

As you may remember from my fast travel bug discussions, I have Devious Followers installed. However at the moment I don't have a follower. I'm trying to get through the clavicus vile quest, and don't want a follower AND Barbas. I also have the bound queen book and am deciding if I want to progress through that, before gathering a follower. The belt can make certain deals unable to be followed. I've gotten "You must wear clitoral piercings" deal come up as a random addition while I was belted before.

Oh, and for the final 45 minutes of save scumming, I had reset the difficulty to 'vanilla'

As an additional question, I'm suddenly getting disarmed by power attacks. Is this expected behavior?

I'm not a huge fan of the mittens either, but I love them as as item so I deal with it. Whenever I get stuck in mittens I'm almost always talking to a merchant and starting the "I've been locked in restraints, can you help me" line with I have configured to lead to a bondage adventure about 60% of the time and the other 40% I get released. Then again I have much fun with the bondage adventure quest. I love trying to navigate my way back home without allowing myself to open the map because, you know, bound hands and all.

Sounds familliar to me, I can't remember exactly and dont have the game open but Id check the mcm in CL, try around the rape area. Theres something about combat surrender and some sort of "chance for more complicated features" or something like that, turn that to 0. I also remember an option near the top near the events area that has an option to unequip things instead of dropping them, could try that too. If that doesnt do it, maybe you have some kind of combat overhaul or something which is responsible?

Theres a mod I remember from LE ya might be interested in. It removed your "you are here" arrow on the main map for more immersion forcing you to look at landmarks and such. I lost all my mods before when I had to repair my windows and cant remember the name of it, but I did find a different yet similar one called No GPS but it would need converted~

In case ya wanted something simpler tho theres this one I found for SE however, called Directionless Player Map Marker which replaces your arrow with a circle. For a harder version, you could replace the circle icon included in the mod with an entirely transparent one so it doesnt show up on the map~

Both of those options sound interesting actually, but I like the self imposed restrictions in case I want to override my restrictions, which rarely ever happens. To elaborate on to my restrictions, if I do not have a blindfold on and I come across a friendly NPC or get to a town/farm I will walk up to the NPC and if I can sucessfully get passed the gagged dialogue, I will then open the map, which I liken to the equivalent of a helpful person showing me where I am. If I do have a blindfold on, I take it a step further and I load up an external skyrim map in firefox to navigate without seeing the direction I'm facing, like the equivalent of just being told where to go. (I love this map set to look like a google maps type map) https://srmap.uesp.net/

I love having the 'Adventurers and Travellers" mod for this reason! What can I say, I'm weird.

I was looking at oldrim mod Sexlab Survival 0.42 which among other things adds a requirement of having a map and compass to bring up the map. I almost converted/installed it to try it out, but again I stick to my self imposed restrictions/conditions no matter what so I decided I didn't need a mod to do it for me.

2 times now I have had a problem with the "Find the Thief" quest in the new DCL. In both instances I find the spot on the map where the thief supposedly is located and there is nobody there. I believe it's the exact spot where I was defeated and robbed in the first place, so I'm thinking the thief may have despawned or something. Either way I have no way of tracking this person down and all my stuff is lost forever!

Hmm, I had something like that happen to me before as well. Afterward I just set the possibility to be robbed at 0~ This was a few versions back, I actually wasnt sure it would still happen, what version are you on with your current game? If its 8.x then I guess I gotta wait until 9 before I try turning it back on again.

I'm using 8.3 still. Even with the issues I am having, I still prefer the latest version.

The way I see it, if I can make it to the spot where the marker is, free of crippling restraints and nothing is there, I can consider my stuff recovered. I will use the addmenuitem mod to give myself back the important items I lost under those circumstances.

I'm also considering it to possibly be an issue where the game just fails to load in the character. I have that from time to time with Katarina going missing in Laura's bondage shop. When I see that happen, if I export funclist.ess at that time, the ID that is supposed to be attached to Katarina just says "UNLOADED".

Unfortunately I can't do what I do to restore Katarina to whoever stole my stuff to test that theory.

if you read the little help text at the bottom of the screen, "You have a certain amount of time to find the thief" so yeah, unless you immediately went there and it was empty spot, it's working as intended.

Posted

Yeah but the quest marker is still there, also after a while it will change to a failed quest. Logic would dictate that you would have until the quest officially fails to find the thief. In the above example, it was less than 2 game days before I managed to return there. If you have less than 2 days to find the thief, that's not a long time at all.

I usually don't convert the form right after converting a mod, it's been known to break things. I haven't seen an issue with DCL and form 43 yet.

Pfiffy usually does convert them, because people complain about the form even when it's not necessary to update it. But iirc he's also noting down what errors there are in the CK before and after resaving, and fixing any new errors.

As an example  of this, when I was using DCL's LAL quest, I would resave the LAL esp from DCL. This broke something so I couldn't use the captured princess start. My only option was to go back to the original esp. So I stopped resaving everything in sight, and this fixed a lot of issues for me.

That said, some things do need to be resaved before they work in SE, I just don't recall an example right now.

I have my chance of being robbed set to 0 as well, but have found that if you fail when you try "resist" the game robs you anyway.

I love the idea of the risk of losing your stuff for good, so I leave it on. I hope this feature gets expanded on at some point, perhaps similar to how it was handled when I was using Defeat and Death Alternative. It would be interesting for some of your expensive items to have a chance to show up in the shop of a random merchant, or perhaps in the inventory of a random NPC or in their house. You would have an incredibly small chance of actually coming across the items again, but it would be neat to know they're still out there somewhere.

Looking to re-update everything after quite a few months and start this up again. One question on my mind because I remember the last version of this I played on SE didn't have it and I cant remember where it came from on oldrim and I don't know where my mod list for that version of the game got off to. In oldrim I remember my followers having devious behaviors as well and depending on certain variables in locations specified in the MCM (or anywhere if you set it that way) they would at times initiate dialogue with you essentially asking for a play session or in some cases just bind or lock your character in devices without asking and force a session. I cant remember if these behaviors came from DCL or not because at the time the version available on SE was a bit behind oldrim.

Other than that I'm looking into what other things have updated versions to load and wouldn't mind an updated required mods list for this just incase something has changed.

I'm using Zarantha's 8.3 and i'm having an issue with the bodyslide files for the Latex corset's included in the Cursed loot group.  I'm using the current CBBE body for SE and I'm getting the following when I try to build the latex corset dress or any of the corsets.
