Pinup and Porn loot preview

I'd like some opinions now that I'm kinda sorta ready to post a mod.  Probably in a late alpha / mixed beta status (it all works but has a lot of work it needs and may change greatly plus has what some would call "conflicts")

At this point, items are distributed via overwritten leveled item lists for bandits, warlocks, vampires and guards (for pick pocketing fun). I have the intention to create a quest that OnLoad merges my custom lists into regular loot via a script but I can't compile anything at this point so if someone wants to create such and supply it, that would be great.

The source for nearly all of the images is rule34.xxx.  I tried to name the files according to author tags and other notable tags but some of the images I've had from another project and were not intended for release nor were always renamed. I have necessarily edited, resized and resampled all of them to a 395x450 or less pixel image, and for the transparent backgrounds reduced the color count to 256. This unfortunately reduces the quality of just about all of the images but may not be too visible in the Skyrim engine.

The vast majority of the book and note images will be on bandits and most are uncategorized. If people have ideas of in game books that fit the images one thing I'd like to do is incorporate as many images into books as possible though this will necessarily create conflicts with other book mods. Book Covers of Skyrim mod I probably have mixed into this mod in some degree with some of the cover references copied into my ESP. This shouldn't cause any conflicts but might result in some purple, missing texture, issues. It is not a required master so there should be no CTDs but whether I remove the references or just make it a required mod I haven't decided.  Feedback required for that.

I also expect to move most of the images into category folders and re-work most of book and note items as we find lore based reasons to include the images in the game.  My current head canon is that a number of magical paint brushes, similar to the Brush of Truepaint featured in TES IV Oblivion. They are unable to create a fully realistic painting that a person can enter but can create a very realistic painting depending on the magical and artistic talent of the user. This explains the variety of image qualities and styles and my headcanon of Sanguine being involved along with Dibella provides the reason for the content.

Potentially a mod like this could expand and have a complimentary non-porn option for the Nexus, pending image owner permissions and all of the related restrictions.  I think I'm in the clear with some of the images, having no restrictions on reuse or only on financial gain (for those I could find).  Others I don't know as the source is not available on rule34.

Since you unfortunately did not provide screenshots: Are the used images at least remotely similar to the visual style of the game? I'm not sure if I want a bunch of Anime style pictures with bright colours in my game, since that would be contradictory to the rather dull colour scheme used by Skyrim.

I think I had around 120 pics so I didn't do too many screenshots.  There are a few random samples in other blog posts but there will be some differences from game to game. I've noticed some of the images are rather washed out in exterior areas and just fine inside. Does not seem to matter day/night or other lighting conditions, so I'm guessing some gamma aspect is screwed up in my install... which isn't surprising.

Lore wise there will be a variety. Some are not much more than line drawings, others are full paintings.  Which ones are fitting and which ones are not liked is some of the feedback I'd like.

Did I already mention that this is the type of book that me need?

And a sleazy book seller :classic_laugh:

Book is in there. Might be in a book seller if you have one but should also show up in loot.

Be warned I made changes to loot lists but I was hoping people would install the mod and take a look and let me know, then pull it if they were doing something serious (and continue on from their hard save).

Editing the vanilla loot lists is problematic AFAIK. Too many mods do that and collide with each other, unless the player uses a bashed/smashed patch :classic_unsure:

I am experimenting a bit on a similar issue with BF potions. Not that I would have had enough time for that, but maybe next week :classic_shy:

My idea is to have a mod with an NPC. A merchant. I want to check dynamically if BF is also installed, together with some other mods.

If "yes" => I want to add stuff fro those mods to his merchant chest.

The general idea is to avoid hard dependencies at all cost and not to collide with any other mods.

I'll eventually make a quest that runs a script that adds custom lists into vanilla lists for loot on bandits, warlocks, etc and some chests.  I can't compile scripts right now so I might need someone to do that for me, and I don't know what the right drop chance and mix of which books and notes go together, so I did it quick and dirty.

If anyone else gives some feedback and lets me know which images work, which don't and where some of the images could be included in game books (the other half of the project, really) I can push out other iterations of the mod.

If someone can tell me how to do a dynamic insertion that activates on load instead of just starting a new game that doesn't hork everything, I could do that earlier rather than later.

I've been out of town or would have noticed this sooner.  Since you're looking for opinions, here's mine: (1) That Drunken Archer book is great, nice pictures, good story, and the right length. (2) I like the idea of pictures matched with guard and/or NPC sayings.

How would you go about doing this? Fliers / notes using images above/below the text, with lines similar to the book implying scraps taken from larger books by bandits and such?

Books or journals with just a page or two like the quest items we find that provide a backstory or clue (think Arvel's, the one outside Folgunthar, Medresi's notes, or the Writs in Geirmund's amulet questline).

Perhaps a bawdy journal of a wench's travels through Skyrim, scattered into separate pages like Jiub's, recording her interactions with Skyrim's people. Like the first three you have in your big post above - two handed weapons, wolves howling, enchanting a weapon, etc.

I had not thought about a separated journal but the idea of combining pages together and creating a book object was something I mentioned before, on one of my other posts I think. Might have been in a random thread.

Question on that is Hard placement vs loot drops, and if loot, what is the percentage chance any thing drops, how many drops are required to make the book and thus how hard is it to make a book?  I don't want to make it really hard to make a book and get nothing but all of the images you already have. If I go Oghma Infinium and boost skill points then having them be rare makes sense.

I think it is Misty Skye or one of the other follower mods that has a variety of placed notes with images (in game screen caps IIRC) I think as clues on where to find her but mostly as "where I have been" kinda things like you're talking about.

I did do a couple hard placed books (though I might have taken them out).  Bard's college was one and I think Greymane and Battleborn houses had one too.
