Blood Memory

Hello, dear readers.

Some of you were wondering about the true nature of the relationship between Kiki and Uncle Harkon. I’ve decided to create this second part of the “Blood”-series to shed some light on Harkon’s thoughts on the subject. As these are his musings, they are somewhat darker and more serious than is usually seen in my stories. Don’t worry though, this is all in his mind. Nothing bad ever happened and everyone is alright (yes, even the Vigilants of Stendarr). ?

Warning: Violence, a bit of gore and NSFW imagery. If this is not your cup of tea then feel free to skip this episode (no hard feelings, I promise ?). We will be returning to our main story-line soon.

Oh my, thank you! I'm happy that you like it and please don't cry! I promise they are all alright and Kiki will visit her Uncle more often and everything will be fine ?.

P.S. And no offense taken. In fact I take it as a huge compliment, that you enjoyed this story so much. ?

Very nicely worked story. As romanticist I can only say you did excellent job. It looks like KIki is ready to go further in her relationship with her uncle. Trilog's malicija only teasing Stranger. Well, every rule has exception :)

First of all - thank you for your compliment. I know this side-story was unusual and I'm glad readers liked it. ?

Now as for Kiki - she would certainly love to have a more intimate and romantic relationship with Uncle Harkon. She's fascinated by him and is drawn to him both as to a father figure and as to a man. And the main factor for this subconscious yearning is their blood connection. It heightens their senses around one another and binds them  in their damnation (yes, technically speaking Kiki is Molag Bal's subject). In a way that is what I tried to show with "Blood Dream" episode.

However, things are much more complicated when we see everything from Harkon's perspective. Kiki became his childe by a whim of fate. As he was raising her from a neonate he began to learn her personality and character. It was in such a stark contrast to his own existence and world view that it struck him to the core. She is the first 'innocent' vampire that he's known, and he is the one who created her (in a manner of speaking). This makes him want to possess her, so Kiki/Kathryn would be only his. And Harkon knows just how easy it would be to seduce her. But he is ancient. He has seen it all before numerous times. If Harkon would make Kiki belong to him, then he would slowly corrupt her - turning her into a cold, ruthless, calculating version of himself and in a process destroying everything about her that he loves. That is why he keeps these thoughts, fears and fantasies to himself and continues to behave only as a guardian/Maker.

Will this scenario ever change? Time (and comics) will tell ?.

oh, damn. I guess a mixture of the father’s love for the daughter and the love of the creator for his creation. You brilliantly conveyed this complex range of emotions.
And I like how Kathryn is different in his dreams (on the throne, in armor). Closer to some of her evil (?) varinat. ^_^

I liked this entry, as it is filled with paternal love mixed with desire, the first one limiting the second into thoughts and regrets. Harkon wishes to remain Kiki's father while knowing it'll be easy to go further, that's a noble and wise attitude.

And at the same time, he still thinks precisely enough so we get our fan service XD.

Anyway, liked this side of the Blood dreams more than Kiki's ones, as there is thoughts to accompany the reader instead of only silence.

Malicia : « Looks like Kiki and Harkon think a lot to each other. Vulvul should pay more attention to Kiki, uh. :classic_ph34r: »

Malicia : « I'm not teasing Stranger ! I invited him, made him visit everything, and then gave him a cookie and a cup of tea. It was very friendly and satisfying, yes. :classic_sleepy: »

You are absolutely correct! ? Since the first time Harkon appeared in my story I've felt there was something more in his attitude towards Kiki than just Maker/Childe or Lord/Subject. I've been looking for ways to show it and it seems I've succeeded at least a bit, as his emotions really are complex. ?qpb0IvewfqPSUz2RiNmTKsOzbOvvTbvJyJ3L1IH6QxJR7W16usIkC4bzJp3qzOPUeROz9Q4DYFp4FRj5DXgHFudedxF6pngV6V-FjGXTBl1ZWK2YTuMiRjoCuoTaeoOr725XTqXB

Yes, the armored Kiki is indeed a more traditional cruel, bloodthirsty and evil version of her as a vampire. And that is something that Harkon is afraid of and tries to prevent by keeping their relationship strictly parental.

I had a feeling you would enjoy this entry more than the first part of the Blood-episodes. ?Truth be told, the first part was a spur-of-the-moment kind of thing and I felt like making a small dreamlike sequence. Harkon's thoughts episode was done with my more customary approach.

You and Crw are absolutely spot-on with your interpretations: it is paternal love mixed with desire and Harkon is trying to keep that delicate balance without crossing either line. (He's a grown man and he has a good imagination, so it's not a surprise that his thoughts and fantasies are so precise ?)

Vulcun: Dear Malicia, I am paying very close attention to Kiki. First of all, she's my friend and I care about her well-being, and second - her Uncle will rip me apart if anything happens to her. ?

Nice job! I like this style of presenting more about Harkon's character.

What about Serana in yours story? Shouldn't Harkon's love be divided between the two?

Thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you liked it. ?

Serana and Valerica are a bit of a sore subject, as I have multiple various scenarios in regards to those two but none of them fit into my story in any meaningful way at this point (for example in one scenario they have not survived the Coldharbour ritual and are long dead, in another they have all went their separate ways afterwards). So for now I am simply keeping any mention of them out of the tale. I might address it at a later date if it will relate to Kiki's adventures somehow. ?

I'm very sorry, Ms Devianna, but you mustn't say anything to Serana, no ! She's got a lot of trouble thinking at honey-honey,

if she sees her daddy dreams about Kiki naked it'll get very bad, yes ! :classic_exclamation: »

Don't worry, Malicia. I don't think Serana will be in my story (unless something extraordinary happens), so she should be alright. We can think that she is off on her own adventure filled with mystery and excitement and delicious cookies! ??

I understand, I have a similar problem in my stories as I don't want to mess too much with Serana and the picture people have of her.

I think you can probably just pretend she is still locked away in that tomb and her mother in the soul world. So Harkon hasn't seen neither of them in centuries.

I liked this! It was well written and there was some good pics!

Really thought the lynching scene was well done!

It also cleared up the relationship a little and served to make your last episode a lil less "icky" for me ?

P.S. I hate Serana! And Valerica for that matter! Please feel free to shit all over their lore ?

Thank you for your kind words! ? Looks like most readers found this explanation satisfactory (I should've posted both "blood" parts one right after another in order to avoid confusion ?)

The lynching scene broke my own heart, to be honest. ? (I'm not saying that I massacred the whole tower afterwards, but I'm not saying that I didn't, either).

Ah, two people after my own heart, I see. ? I think I'll just keep Serana and Valerica far, far, far away from my stories.
