Charley's Story: Getting ready for more adventures

Hi folks, hope you've all had a good summer! I'm just winding up a round of playtesting on my Skyrim build and I'm starting to feel the itch to continue Charley's adventure. It'll still be a little bit before I can post new chapters because I need to reread where I was at to make sure I'm not forgetting key plot points. I'm also thinking that I might want to do some non-story articles recapping the key characters' backgrounds and plot threads. This won't just help me get my brain back in the story, but hopefully it'll be a good resource for new readers who don't necessarily want to read through the early books in order to understand and enjoy the newest material.

When we left off, Charley had just established a formal presence in Diamond City, somewhat to the dismay Mayor McDonough. She's also learned Brian Virgil's name and concluded that she needs to contact the Railroad. Charley was experiencing some friction with the growing assertiveness of the Cabinet within Concord's dominion, as well as warning signs that both the Institute and the Gunners are becoming more aggressive on her borders. At the same time, Concord's influence on the Commonwealth is starting to show itself in a cultural shift in the lands adjoining Concord, which while I'm sure it pleases Charley to see it's certainly not gone unnoticed by the people who hold power in those regions.

Stay tuned for more material soon, and in the meanwhile please feel free to let me know in the comments if there are any areas you are especially interested in seeing emphasis on, or any deficiencies or shortcomings with the previous chapters that you'd like to see improved on.

Apparently Sim Settlements 2 Chapter 3 came out while I was away. I don't expect for that to show up in the game any time soon as I'll need to do a thorough technical analysis of it, but its still exciting news.

To be honest, I was fully expecting you being already knee deep into BG3. ^^

BG3 and the upcoming release of Starfield are both pretty tempting, I have to admit. I don't really have the bandwidth to take on a new game at the moment, but I definitely reserve the right to take a break from my current projects in the future so that I can check them out.

I hear you, I'm soo tempted as well, but it's a pretty high load period at work currently and I fear if I get BG3 now I might end up calling in sick. ;) So I'm pushing it back perhaps till christmas break, we shall see.
Not sure if I've high hopes for Starfield, even if it's good, it's a Bethesda title I will give it at least 6 months to actually reach release readiness (after being released) and perhaps some community fixes for the most glaring things Bethesda refuses to fix.

I gave into temptation and bought Starfield - and it's really good. I agree with you that time will tell if the mod scene is equal to Skyrim or FO4 but I'm very entertained so far. Very stable game too with few apparent bugs (though some abandoned/not yet ready features have residual fingerprints, such as a lot of effort into the food system but no survival mode and food buffs being functionally useless).

I have a half written FO4 blog entry sitting on my desktop, and I'd like to say I'll take a break from Starfield to finish it up, but honestly I'm having too much fun right now. Maybe this weekend.

One thing I do want to get around to when I start writing the story again is at least a brief visit to the Starlight Drive-Thru location. I've accumulated several pictures that I think would make good movie posters and I was fiddling around with one of them today...
