halfbullet Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 Hello everyone! First of all, i want to say i'm total newbie in 3D modding. But i want to learn to change clothes and/or armors textures. Like making latex/leather/pvc effect. I searched alot of threads and found nothing useful. So can someone, please, direct me to the right way or post tutorial for editing clothes into latex/leather/pvc effect. Thank You
Farmthat Posted December 6, 2017 Posted December 6, 2017 I can explain. It's very, very similar to Skyrim. what textures do you want to change? Default game objects? Clothing from mods? if the former, you'll need a BSA unpacker to access the files that are "baked" into the base game. You can make almost all of your changes in Nifskope, fortunately. Open up an armor .nif. You'll see a hierarchy of "nodes." Selecting a node shows you the piece of armor it is... expand the tree--In BSLightingShadingProperties (not at my computer, apologies if not exactly correct) you'll see settings for glossiness, specular value, etc. for a latex-like look, I like to set the glossiness to 60-80. 60 is a little bit matte of a finish, but is in a way more luminous, but over 80 is too glossy in the way that light bounces off the surface too easily, making it look overall very dark with a few reflective highlights. So the sweet spot I think is where there are reflection highlights but also the ability to see the surface texture some. i'll follow this thread and answer any questions pertaining to textures and nifskope. Unfortunately I can't help on the fallout end of things.
halfbullet Posted December 9, 2017 Author Posted December 9, 2017 Thank You! I probably should mention in earlier post that i want to do these kind of modifications only for custom armors and clothing (mods, like from nexus). Does that make any difference?
halfbullet Posted December 10, 2017 Author Posted December 10, 2017 So i've tried using Nifskope on easygirl outfits and i got no results whatsoever. i've changed glossiness to 80 and absolutely nothing changed in game. Maybe i'm doing something wrong?
Rdawgx Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 If you're still interested, you should check out this thread: https://www.loverslab.com/topic/88368-latex-and-leather-clothing-and-specular-maps-tutorial/
Farmthat Posted December 12, 2017 Posted December 12, 2017 Sorry I missed your posts--Rdawgx's link makes me question whether they've changed how shininess works in fallout4. you didn't need to mess much with specular maps in skyrim.

P.s. ever author of that post apologized for that

P.s. ever author of that post apologized for that Changing the specular map/glossiness in NifSkope doesn't work in Fallout like it does in Skyrim. The only I've done it is by using the link I posted. Photoshop works well if you follow the steps he outlines in the linked thread. It didn't work at first for me because I didn't have the Intel plug-in. But once I downloaded it, it worked very well and now all my clothes are very shiny (particularly my female's skin). Looks like she's oiled up. I can go into further detail if you want.

Maybe i'm doing something wrong? In FO4 maps (textures) and settings for specular, glossiness alpha etc. are stored in external files. In shader material files (bgsm) and / or effect materail files (bgem). If textures (or spec. /gloss. settings) are stored directly in the Nif, they will be ignored in the game if the above files are used in the NIF. Bgsm and Bgem files can be edited with the Material Editor by ousnius. PS: It is also possible to do all textures and settings in the Nif. But then no material file may be used. And it is not recommendable.

I have PS CC 2017 with dds plug-in (unfortunately it only works with 32bit PS version :/), i have material editor and i have nifskope. Do i need something else? I'll be very thankful (and i think a lot of other member appreciate) if someone post a full tutorial here. p.s. if it helps, mainly i want to edit glossiness for EasyGirl outfits. Once again thank You

Once again thank You There are enough tutorials available. I do not write a new tutorial on topic - not even in German. A step by step with pictures yes - if you tell me what you want to achieve. I do not use PS - but Substance Painter + Gimp, so my explanations may be strange for users of PS. So, what do you want to change - specifically? Since I also use Easy Girl outfits, it should not be a problem to get straight to the point.

What files to change? p.s. and yes, i want to edit EasyGirl outfits and make them into latex. If its possible could you write quick tutorial or maybe post a link to decent tutorial?

Right now is a bit of stress due to mod and holidays - preparation. I do not know if I can do it before the holidays. If I forget it, just post a PM or quote on my post. The as a preliminary information: To create latex for HN are 3 textures to edit. - the diffuse (_d.dds) Removing stains - actually a complete coloring for latex is sufficient - the specular (_s.dds) Again, stains are not necessary for latex - the normal (_n.dds) For latex, no heights are necessary for stains.
