Does anyone know? I tried removing the shadow-eyed versions of Xelsword's replacer mods, so I would just have 8 variants instead of 16. For the Crusader, Highwayman, Plague doctor and Vestal that creates white glitch models in variant place 5-8 and 13-16, but for Hound master, Hellion, Grave robber and Occultist they work fine and just have variant 1-4 as clothed version and variant 5-8 as nude version.

I can't tell if it works for Abomination or Shield Breaker, because they won't appear in the coach, dammit.

[FIXED] Okay, I solved it. The steam_workshop_uploader and modfiles text documents in the mod folder caused the problem. In the Crusader, HWM, PD and Vestal folder these text files mention all 16 variants, so when you activate the mod it tries to find all 16 of them. The other Xelsword class mods don't have this file in them if you download from Nexusmods, so you don't get any issues.

Just replace the darkeye versions with their eyed counterparts, so you have two copies of each skin.

HAHA!

Fixed some more of my issues; it was all Steam Workshop's fault. Mostly my own ignorance actually but now I know! This leaves me with only one last issue if people are willing to help.

Does changing skins on DLC heroes require something extra beyond replacing the relevant files in the DLC folders? For instance I have replaced the skins of the Shieldbreaker with new ones (no fancy skeleton issues; just straight anim folder replaces) but none of them are showing up in game. Even more bazar is that the vanilla skins that I deleted are still showing up like nothing has happened.. I am still testing but I assume that this will also be the case for the Flagellent skins I tried.

For those who are interested in my suffering:

You cant modify steam workshop mods was my issue. At least you cant add new content to existing mods beyond replacing files of the same name in the same location. You can replace antiquarian_A with a new skin called antiquarian_A, but you can't add antiquarian_F to a mod that never had that file to begin with. Every time I tried modifying files only ones I replaced would work and not any that I had shoehorned into an existing mod.

1- I use modefiers from already existing mods for example if you want the option to use a lot more skins than what would normaly be possible is that you can copy the codes inside a palet modifier file (which will contain a lines where there is written values and nımbers for skin B,C,D depending on the palet modifier aswell since sometimes you can have a palet modifier file which has corresponding string of codes from the letter A to D sometimes can be even more or less)  and paste them onto the modifier file of the mod you want to add more skins into but then again there might also be an easier way for that :D. I just love to make my life a nightmare so I recommend not doing what I did and I don't think I made much sense either with this 'explanation' of mine

2- Normaly dlc hero skins do not require any other files other than the skins files themself which means you can just take shieldbreaker A,B,C,D,E,F etc. and just drop them into the hero file atleast I did not have any problem.

And if you are still not sure what to do I can always just post my own flagellent or shieldbreaker file where you can choose from quite a good chunk of skins that I use.

Thank you for the offer, I think I may take you up on that while I figure out my issue. Even if you have different skins, seeing a working file structure may help me diagnose my problem. I am using KairosZX's 3 topless wardancer skins and am still testing to see if the other changes I made today have stuck for ones like the Flagellent (TS_Skin_02; Eyeless_Female_Flagellant; and lastly Female Flagellant) and Contess/Courtesan monsters.

ok, so I gave the mod a look and downloaded it for myself and just so you know I didn't use it as a mod but rather just took the skin file which is shieldbreaker_X and put it next to the other skins and as far as I have seen it doesn't have any problem. Also this is the mod right?

Changing the relevant files 'should' change DLC characters, I can't imagine why it wouldn't. Are you sure you're replacing the right files?

As for your workshop issues, you can add new files to workshop mods... as long as you delete the mods modfiles.txt, a manifest of all files in the mod that tells the game to ignore anything not listed in it.

I think. I remember having trouble with that, but a more permanent fix is to install the mod as if it were a non-workshop mod in the Darkest Dungeon/mods folder, and delete modfiles.txt again. Unsubscribe from the original, or two identical mods will appear in your mod list.

If you don't value your sanity, you can add new files to modfiles.txt and it'll work guaranteed, at least, until the mod updates... But that's definitely the worst option.

Yep thats the one. I am going to restore the shieldbreaker files and go at it fresh. Most likely reason is that I made a mistake somewhere along the way. Thanks for all your help.

I ended up going with manual installs in the end, as you guessed. I will keep more complicated mods in Steamworkshop that will be more likely to require updates; simple mods like skins I installed manualy.

Thanks again!

XD ''if you don't value your sanity'' I definitly don't since I did it and I wasn't aware that you could just delete the modfiles.

So.... how is everyone doing? I never ask this question like how are you people? How is life? I am well and mostly happy with my life.

Unfortunately, the HoundMistress (Standalone) is crashing some people's games, so if you're going to try it (as with ALL new heroes/enemy mods you're unsure about) you should put it in your mod folder rather than dragging it directly into the game files.

Luckily, I avoided this issue, but some other people were not so lucky.
PS: Anyone got that Cutthroat Niur?
PSS: Hey, if Xelsword is reading this by any chance? Keep up the good word, buddy! We love your stuff.

Life is well. Cold where I am. Should get a start date for my new job this week if things go well.

And I just learned something new while fixing my shieldbreaker problem. Apparently it doesn't matter what you do to the Shielbreaker anim files in the DLC folder! The only way it works is if you make yourself a new shieldbreaker folder in the heroes directory and copy the whole lot from DLC to heroes; THEN REPLACE THE anim FOLDERS.

This at least got me to reorganize all my skin mods into 2 dedicated plugins; one for heroes and the other for monsters. No more loose files in the games folder.

THAT WAS THE LAST BUG! yaaaaaayyyy....

Next I'm going to spend some time putting them into the game,

and get them moving ......

If you have any interesting ideas when you look at them.
Let me know in the comments!

Have to say the standalone like this one is always bad since it overwrite some files on the main mod. Even you don't have issue now, you will get later if the Lustier Lair get a new update. They should combine it with the main mod instead.

1-It is also cold where I am somewhere around -10 or -4 constantly but I am a person who likes cold weather so I am good and I hope your new job goes well.

2-uhhhhhh..... my monke brain could not understand but I am assuming that you find a good way of handling future moddings and I am happy that you finally got rid of all the bugs. Though I still prefer to just manually (as in copy paste the files from the mod folder itself if that is possible) change images and other aspects of the game but ofcourse that can also screw up the game on a entire different level as well.

The reason why people put the shieldbreaker in the dlc folder is they want to use her on Butcher Circus as well. If you don't use this DLC, just put directly in heroes folder. It is much more stable.

I will be dead at -10. You can't call it cold. It is freezing.

Now I know, it must be a character from Azure Lane.
