Okay, so I just tried te new version and some minor titles are now duplicated (for example court physician, although you can only assign one, but the "You should really assign a court physician" info thingie stays up on top). I only have a very limited modding knowledge but it seems you included your own title file and also the base 00_minor_titles.txt. Not quite sure if I can just delete the base file?

In any case it's a cool mod, thanks for making it.

Sorry, that was my mistake. To fix the issue don't delete the base file, only delete les_minor_titles. What I meant to do with yesterday's update was to replace les_minor_titles with a blank file, but left it unchanged instead. I've just released a hotfix that should correct the issue, but instead of installing it you can just delete les_minor_titles.txt in common/minor_titles folder and that will fix our problem as well.

Hello there,

I've been playing your mod with CK2+ + Rep Equ + your comp patch for a while now but run into an issue that i've spend tha last week trying to solve.

The issue was that while increasing my female_council_power laws, I was not able to appoint women to the different council posts like I should. It wasn't a big deal in the early game, i could fill my council with male, but when I started increasing my female_authority laws and forbidding men to work, I found myself with an empty steward seat and noone I could appoint, neither male nor female.

So, after a week of digging through the files I finally found the culprit !

It appears that, in the base School of Sapho mod files, you've included in your les_scripted_triggers file chunks of code directly overwriting bits of 00_scripted_triggers, namely all of the can_be_marshal, can_be_steward, can_be_whatever_council_member,...

That means that, since CK2+ has it's own modified 00_scipted_triggers, your file is overwriting CK2+'s files without accounting for the change of name of the status_of_women law.

I've fixed it in my setup, but you might want to fix this in your compatibility patch for others.

Right, thanks for pointing this out. I will be updating my patch soon and I will remember to fix this problem as well. Next time just post here if you see a problem, it would definitely not take me a week to identify the cause and cook up a fix :)

Yeah I know but I took it as a challenge to my limited experience in modding Paradox games ?

Plus at first I thought it was caused by some other mods I had installed, so I didn't want to bother you for an issue that your mod might have nothing to do with.

Running into a bug, thought I should pass it on just in case. My suspicion is that it's a case of mod incompatibility. Whenever I send the "full rights for women" law to my council for voting, the game hangs and then crashes. I am running several dark world mods, and my suspicion is that one of them is also trying to do something with that law entry. I was wondering which events/flags/whatever in the sappho mod deal with that law, so I can compare with the other mods and see where there might be a conflict.

This actually happened before for me after I edited the new crown laws to make them account for a specific issue. But I thought I had rolled back the changes that were made, so this shouldn't be happening. I will double-check and come back with an answer.

EDIT: it was just as I thought - somehow the old buggy version of the les_laws file got into the release version of the mod. I have replaced it now, download v1.63 to get the fixed version. I am sorry for the inconvenience I have caused.

How do you join the society if the AI created it?
Its been some 60+ years since the society was created, when i last looked at it it had over 300 members, i never joined cause all my rulers so far were male, but now i have a female ruler and clicking the button to join the society seems to do nothing. I've waited 3 in-game years and still no event for joining.

Most likely there are no society members in your realm. Or you are in seclusion. Or you are nomadic/tribal. Or maybe it's a bug. Can't think of any other reason just now. Need more information to identify the cause.

I have had the same thing happen to me, for me it was a simple case of no society members were in diplomatic range in order to interact with me

Not sure if you're crowdsourcing ideas, if not I apologize. While playing, I had a couple ideas that I wanted to pass on.

1. I think you should add the nun trait as a conversion eligibility. It's mostly hearsay, but convents of the time had a very strong reputation as centers for homosexual activities.

2. Have you considered adding a general get together event to the game, similar to the hermetics' grand debates? Pretty much all of the events are one on one or personal, and it might be fun to implement a society wide study session that inevitably devolves into a mass orgy

Yes, I've read a study which suggested that certain forms of monasticism would have provided a perfect environment for women who were attracted to other women. Also there is the case of the abbess Benedetta Carlini (although she lived during the Renaissance, not the Middle Ages). I tried not to focus on nuns, because basically anyone can be "converted", with factors such as age and traits influencing the chance of success. But I suppose I could look into it.

I have been making this event last year only to scrap all my work, because the game engine couldn't handle it. Now I am making it anew. I am finishing the localization and flag-clearing today, mayhaps in the evening I will have time to work on the graphics. So it's nearly finished. Pretty soon I will publish it with the next update.

Okay, so there are some significant changes in this update (v1.64):

1. "Female Authority" crown laws that change gender succession in the entire realm no longer rely on scripts to work. Gender laws will change gradually within a month after each law is passed. This change should improve game performance. Ck2Plus users will still have the old script-heavy system;

2. Compatibility with Ck2Plus has been improved;

3. Some old society powers that have been present since before the introduction of "Female Authority" crown laws were removed or changed somewhat;

4. New event chain. Orgies. At first I was reluctant to add it, because the whole idea reeked of crappy porn. But then, as I was researching the subject of lesbian orgies (I'm serious, stop giggling), I stumbled upon a set of articles about a so-called "Skirt Club" and my entire view of the world was blown to bits, and this event chain that I was writing, which I considered to be quite a racy piece of lesbian fiction, actually started to seem quite bland and boring compared to the stuff that (according to the articles) actual real-life women are doing at "Skirt Club" gatherings. So yeah, google this stuff, it's... interesting.

I have got problem, but i don't know if this is mod-related or not.

I am at level 4 for tolerance but i can't vote for women rights and by " i can't" i mean the choice doesn't appear in my governement menu. It just happen after the update so... do you think its related ?

PS : Thanks for the mod anyway.

I am not sure, could you please elaborate? You're saying that you have level 4 Tolerance and you can't vote for "Significant Status of Women" because you see the option in the law menu, but it's locked? Or do you mean you cannot see any of the Status of Women laws at all? Or by level 4 you mean that you can't pass the 4th law - "Notable Status of Women"?

1. In the first case I cannot really say what might be the problem, because I haven't really done much with "Status of Women". Perhaps it's a bug from another mod. Or you just need to wait for 5-10 years after passing the previous law;

2. If it's the second case, then there is something overwriting the ze_demesne_laws file. Try booting the game with just "School of Sappho", "Republic Equality" and official dlcs without any other mods and see if the problem persists;

3. And in the latter case you might have installed an older version of the mod by mistake, because that was a bug in one of the versions.

For Vanilla: Republic Equality is New_Republic_Equality

For CK2Plus: Republic Equality is CK2Plus_Republic_Equality

In your .mod file, it is plainly Republic_Equality.  Does that cause any issues?

EDIT: For clarification: dependencies =

You're right. I suppose it would be best to use the regular "Republic Equality" for now. I will look into this when I get home from work.

v1.65

An important update for people using Ck2Plus. I've updated the patch with a replacement for the "School of Sappho"'s .mod file in order to set up correct dependencies, which I should have done long ago, but overlooked. There weren't any serious issues apparently, but still I apologise for this rookie mistake.

For the record: if you use Ck2Plus, download and install the correct version of "Republic Equality", then install "School of Sappho", and only AFTER you've done all that install the "Ck2Plus +School of Sappho" patch and let it overwrite anything that comes up.

As for the other updates in this version - nothing really important. I've fixed a few bugs and removed an unused option in one of the events.

It was something between 2 and 3. I just installed the new version by copy and paste, forgetting to delete the last version. So no problem now, thanks for your help.

First, forgive my stupidity.  I've been trying for a couple of days to get this mod to work.  I have the right DLCs for it.  I'm playing as a feudal Catholic.  It doesn't seem to matter if the player character acquires a lesbian lover or two, but no event ever seems to fire, and no option to create a school or society ever appears in the intrigue tab.  My guess is that despite both the School of Sappho and Republic Equality mods being ticked in the launcher, one or both of them is not really active.  I guess I am not understanding something about what the structure of the Crusader Kings II/Mod file should look like to get your mod to work.

Thanks.

Okay, let's try to solve this.

First of all, if it's your first time installing mods, make sure you've unpacked them into the correct folder (on Windows it's ~\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod\).

Second, see if both the "School of Sappho.mod" file and the "School of Sappho" file folder are present in the mod folder.

If everything is in order, try firing one of the mod's events via a console command. Type "event LES.1006", for example. If the mod is not active, you should receive an error message.

If you get the event instead, open the society tab and look for the society - maybe the AI has already created it.

Let me know if any of these suggestions helped.

Thanks for responding quickly.

The suggested console command just generates the red-letter message that there is no such event.

Yes, I am installing to Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings II\mod\.  I am used to Steam mods, so maybe I am installing it wrong.  I am unzipping, creating a file within the mod file--those are the functional text documents which actually do something in-game.  The 1-kb MOD file is also unzipped.  As far as I know, the MOD file is purely a graphical mod  for the launcher.  Since the mod's box is visible and ticked in the launcher, I am guessing that my ticking of that box has no effect on the game at all, and so I think I am playing with a box ticked, but without your mod running.
