dippity dip Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Which quest mods are ideal for which kinds of characters... I'm putting together a list, I figure this could help people looking for spoiler-free ways to choose quest mods... Archer Voyage to the Dreamborne Isles Mage Dwemertech Spectraverse Summerset Isles (follows Mage Guild questline) Undeath (for necromancer) Winterhold Rebuild Thief / Assassin (Stealth / Sneak) Agent of Righteous Might (has several missions requiring stealth) Aldmeri Domain - Fight against the Thalmor III Arissa (follower) Brotherhood of Old (follows Dark Brotherhood questline) (recommended!) Dark Brotherhood Resurrection (follows Dark Brotherhood questline) Grey Cowl of Nocturnal (ideal for thief) Warrior Immersive Idiots - Roderick Redbeard (follows Companions questline) Pit Fighter Vigilant (rewards are many heavy armors) BY RACE... Nord Blood of the Nord (follows Civil War) (recommended!) Helgen Reborn (could be any race, but seems more meaningful for a Nord) Orc Adal Matar - Fight against the Thalmor I ANY PLAYER CHARACTER Beyond Reach (not good for orc) (recommended!) Beyond Skyrim: Bruma (recommended!) The Forgotten City (recommended!) Clockwork Tower (best for scholars of Dwemer culture) Dragon Break Falskaar (but maybe not best for thief) A Forsworn Story (best for mage or warrior) Here There Be Monsters (not best for thief) Legacy of the Dragonborn (best for completionists) The Rabbit Hole (arena-style mod, maybe not best for thief) Wheels of Lull Here are other popular/well-reviewed mods that I've collected from my Google research. Anyone got suggestions for what type of character they're good for? (many may be good for any playstyle/character) Bhruce Hammar Darkend Descent into Madness Dragon Under Whiterun Interesting NPCs Main Quest Molag Bal's Inferno Moon & Star Moonpaths to Elswyr Rigmor of bruma Sea of Ghosts Shadow of Meresis Sulfur and Fire Wyrmstooth
Lodakai Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Arissa Follower has a quest that kinda fits a thief.
y_sengaku Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I can add some additional information for the following three quest mods, although all of them are viable for different RPs/ play styles: Beyond Reach: Your PC will act together with some quest NPCs who are mostly attacker (warrior) s in the later part of main quest line, although they'll be not so powerful enough to overwhelm enemies at ease. There are also some infiltrating mission (sub) quests that are especially suitable for stealth characters. On the other hand, in the latest version (v 3.97), Orc PC will take alternative route (although probably still in WIP) of the main quest line, not the normal one. Forgotten City: Since the plot line basically proceeds as investigations, so thief/ stealth skills like speech-craft/ stealth/ lock-picking will be very important for your characters. Also some alchemist potions/ alteration spells may be useful especially you install some hardcore mods. Quest items you have to wear as a complete set in order to have the best ending belong to the category of heavy armor, though. Vigilant: While the quest itself can allow almost any style, many additional armors are mainly heavy armors. [added]: Some new quest (?) mods not mentioned above: Clockwork (Clockwork Castle) (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/77809/): steam-punk/ victorian style castle with a series of quests concerning the its history/maintenance. Any PC style will be OK, but scholar-like PC who are interested in Dwemer culture would be preferable. Immersive Idiots - Roderick Redbeard (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/61441/): requires PC's completion of the Companion quest line, so mainly suitable for (non-beast race) warrior play style.
valcon767 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 Dragon Break can be played by pretty much any style of character. (the version I had you had to have some type of waterbreathing though). the Rabbit Hole ( http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/34106/ ) is not a quest mod, but is an Arena style battle mod for anyone who wants a SERIOUS challenge he or she can try to beat all 50 levels of it. when playing it you go in with what you carry and there are 50 levels to fight through, after beating 5 levels you can leave though, but when you go in again you start at level 1 every time.
dippity dip Posted March 10, 2017 Author Posted March 10, 2017 Thanks for the input! I have incorporated your suggestions into the OP
Darkpig Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 I played only part of Wheels of Lull and it seems to have a little bit of every style mixed in. It is fun, it is kooky, it is a bit fourth wall breaking. It is clearly made for the "Dragonborn hero" of sorts. Something of a protector of the clockwork of the world type thing. So yeah, It has dwemer written all over it. With Zelda type bosses. I would still recommend decent combat skills, something around 15-30 as the enemies you face can still bite and take a bite.
Grey Cloud Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 A Forsworn Story by Delzaron. Suitable for mage or warrior. Also his Things in the Dark (Falmer related) though that is still being de-buggified.
MsOtaku Posted March 15, 2017 Posted March 15, 2017 Excellent thread! Thanks for putting this together. I'm always looking for good quest mods!
